They are allowed to open packages in an attempt to find the proper owner by novice or correspondence. Items are filed by date and type. After several months, if there is no claim to the item, it is sold.
Defund USPS!! I ordered a box spring through Amazon and USPS- instead of leaving it at my door- left a note in my mailbox saying mailbox was full??? When i contacted USPS they could not tel me where my package was, was supposed to receive a call from my local post office master and never did.. scalpers 👎
Learn to think. Dejoy got control of USPS and has a private company that competes. More like fire the heads that want to see it defunded and destroyed. Countries need mail systems that are not privatized
Some mf is marking my packages as "addressee unknown," even though i consistently sent packages to the same P.O box and always received them prior. They talking about sending back to sender on tracking info, but it's still sitting there in the back?! Never received email or phone call about issue, so I think they planned some sketchy shit. Fyi, the items in my packages are essentials, and some even expensive. When I called for my packages the kind lady told me some clerk is doing this (one who worked there for a long time), and she isn't supposed to. If I didn't call the companies I ordered from for their updates, I would have NEVER known. My shit would've been "lost," and 9/10 stolen by some bitch.
Can they legally sell lost mail? No. Can they legally open other peoples mail? No, its a Federal crime. They could if it is safety concerns. Only the law enforcement can open it.
EXACTLY!!!! They are just stealing!! Businesses are hurting because of them!! They “lost” my package valued over 200 and my customer did a chargeback!! This is crazy
Buying things on eBay almost always results in it being sent by usps. You have to avoid eBay entirely at this point. I have had five packages get lost since August 2022 and I’m looking at two more currently that are likely lost. Stick to FedEx and UPS if at all possible.
Those quilts look like they took forever to make and an enormous amount of effort. USPS stole my cousins package recently thats why im researching this but man i feel for her.
Breaking the law x10 you cant open someones mail let alone fucking sell it it should be sent back to the return adress if it cant get to to its destination super FUCKED
I never received my international mail despite them saying there was no access first and then they said it was delivered, but I never got anything back. I've been contacting them everyday for a week and still nothing. there's got to be a way to legally make them accountable with all that sender/receiver information blatantly on packages.
When faced with a "lost package" inquiry, the default position for the USPS is that "it was scanned at the proper location and delivered". When pressed, they claim that the scan includes GPS coordinates. Yet, their own automated system to which complaints are directed advises that automated delivery notifications can be in error; how is that possible? Attempting to navigate the USPS automated theft reporting system is arduous and profoundly frustrating - especially for seniors and the disabled. When a perfunctory follow-up is required by an actual postal worker, the USPS never admits error or takes responsibility for a missing package, rather they go to the default excuse that the package must have been "stolen". Again, when pressed, they admit that the "missing package" may have been delivered to the house or business next door as the GPS scan is not as accurate as originally suggested. Truth be told, millions of "scanned" items go missing a year. In fact, the USPS itself claims that "there are as many as 1.7 million cases of mail thefts daily. Over a third (36%) of all Americans who deal with the postal service have once experienced a mail theft case." Even when one employs Registered Mail, where a return receipt is required and purchased insurance is intended to cover all losses, the USPS tracking system is often unable to track the exact location of a package en-route - this in spite of the fact that every way station is required to sign for and scan the package before storing it in a predesignated "secure" location. Lastly, the USPS reports: "For Priority Mail Express items not requiring a signature, a delivered scan event constitutes a valid delivery, and no indemnity for loss is paid." - thus the USPS has no incentive for, or interest in, pursuing a claim of a "missing package" as a "scan" is considered prima facia evidence of delivery.
This is the best explanation of the situation that USPS puts the American public through. Very insightful, thank you for this valuable information. The process of dealing with the USPS and other postal services is back breaking work, and I know of not a single person who hasn’t suffered losses at the hands of the USPS.
This is why they have to put quotes on "lost." Because if it was lost then how do they sell the items if it was lost. The lie detector test determines this is a LIE!
When is something gonna be done this is a scam im dealing with them right now and they can't find my package and it's been forever. You can't even trust the us postal service. They should be held responsible for all the lost items it should be insured!!
Oh lord! PLEASE let my package get to where it's going 🙏🏿 I'm in Johannesburg, South Africa and I sent a book to Centralia Correctional Center in Illinois weeks ago! I don't know if the package is taking long because its international... but I really hope USPS doesn't lose it 😥 I will be heartbroken 💔
Lydee did your book get delivered to the person you sent it to? The reason I ask is I have known a few family members in jail and you can't send anything direct to a jail/prison. It has to come directly from the company. Thats what I was told when my son in law was in Texas jail and again when my son was in Missouri and Florida jail. Just curious if your person actually got to have it.
It could be dangerous for us? Maybe because after someone buys something you don’t give it to them and you sell it to someone else and you get both there monies. Yeah people would probably take down that sick facility
Two words: qualified immunity. It is truly one hell of a F'ed up system. Any and all US government workers such as police, these mail men, and much more have something called qualified immunity. Essentially it insulates them from being sued/charged or otherwise held accountable for any felonies they committed while on the job, such as theft in this mail recovery centers case, but also shooting innocent people in case of a cop for example. It is possible to have a judge declare their qualified immunity null and void, but there needs to be an insane and overbearing amount of direct , non circumstantial evidence in combination with a detailed document detailing the specific reasons for retracting their qualified immunity. I don't know 100% of the details, maybe try googling for more and more accurate info, but I am fairly certain this is the reason they have yet to be sued into oblivion. Man man man, qualified immunity, it sure as f*** is one *HELL* of a _f***ing_ drug, dawg!
Its alright . TheLord knows Everything . On the Day of Judgement they( every Person Involved in this Will get Judged because I think alot of people are Involved in this Not just one Person).
How is this not considered theft. My package has stopped scanning for a week. This is a very important package. If I find out this has happened please believe I will be doing whatever it takes to f all their lives up
USPS IS THE WORST DELIVERY BRAND RIGHT NEXT TO FEDEX, because I was very disappointed because it said “carrier attempted to deliver your item.” AND I ORDERED IT FROM EBAY
The USPS Regional facility in Sacramento CA just stole my package. The USPS customer service said “It never left Manchester NH” when the tracking clearly shows it left Manchester NH on April 4th and arrived at the Sacramento CA facility on April 8th and went missing from there. I’m about to make a ruckus! This is bullshit
USPS lost my package. It also was a quilt that I made for my grandson. He never received it even though they said it had arrive. I believe it was stolen. I spent weeks trying to recover it. I finally gave up and felt like a fool because I finally figured out that they had no intention of getting it back to me. USPS is a joke.
I feel like mail would be more reliable in developing countries at this point. Or one could say “other developing countries” and that’d probs be correct too Good reporting either way. More of this
Same here..idk what else to do. I've filed complaints and lost mail inquiries. I have informed delivery which shows my checks and W2 forms were scanned
I got a notification that my item just got delivered. I even saw the truck pull away. I went to check and regular trash mail was there but not my item. I waited 2 days and nothing. I opened a case. A supervisor called 2 days later to basically tell me that my neighbors took my package, because there is NO WAY IN HELL that her contractor-carriers would steal a package.
Same happened to me last year. Post master suggested it was one of my neighbors. So I go door to door asking all of them. (Knowing it wasn't because I am the first to get my mail.. pretty much when or seconds after the drop off.... none of the neighbors were even home yet) PM says I'd have to file a complaint with the police against my neighbors before they could compensate me for it.
Imagine you buy someone else’s package on govdeals and it gets sent through USPS and gets lost, just to be sold again. Idk seems like a money harvesting scheme to me.
Got Robed By USPS TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN ON JULY 2 I SEN A PAKEGE TO MY SON WHO US IN THE MARINES ABOUT 3000 dll worth of in one box about 60-70 pounds in electronics and clothing when it got to my son he just got 1 shirt 1 short and. halo lamp all the rest of the stuff supposedly got lost tried to get things done the right way some people may think its just stuff that can be recovered but it took more then 3 months and a lot of effort and sacrifices they tell me to file a missing mail claim usps makes more then 180 billion dlls a year out of us getting robed for service we don get i had documented all the stuff that i sent to my son with pictures and videos please help.
We bought expensive Wedding invitations for our daughter and placed stamps on envelopes and on the return RSVP Envelopes the post office lost all the invitations that we dropped in the post office mail slot. Not just one or two invitations every single one. I called and called and left several messages and we did not receive any callbacks or emails nothing to our search for where those Wedding invitations went to. The total cost we were left with was 500.00 for custom wedding invites with RSVP cards and envelopes including the postage which was roughly around 150.00. That was and is an expensive cost for my daughter's wedding. The USPS could care less about what it is doing to the public. I am so tired of the US postal asking for stamp price hikes when they offer such poor service.
At least I get my money back from Amazon. I just hope who ever buys my VOKKA back posture corrector has a slouched back like me. Haha! I'll buy another anyway and will keep doing it until they get annoyed and I get my product.
Pro tip, attach an address label on the inside of the package as well. Use a sturdy box, and seal it well. You can file a package search for missing items.
For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the message was lost. For want of a message the battle was lost. For want of a battle the kingdom was lost. And all for the want of a nail. TLDR: Don’t order horse nails through USPS before going into battle
That's ridiculous! Doesn't everything get scanned into a system when it's shipped, so even if the label is torn or made "illegible" it can still get where it's going? I can't believe they're just allowed to open everyone's packages and sell things that get "lost". You also gotta wonder what they do with packages containing cash or uh, less than legal items. Guessing those go right into someone's pocket, never to be seen again. I used to like the post office just fine but this really pulls the curtain back. You also have to feel bad for that poor lady who spend God who knows how many hours making those quilts, probably obsessing over every stitch, doing her best to get it as perfect as possible, only to have it get lost. Something like that can't be replaced and even though I'm not into quilts in the slightest, I have to admit that elephant one was pretty cool. Thousands of hours of making those, for nothing.
My package is cash, and USPS stole it! The tracking clearly said it arrived at the Sacramento CA facility on April 8th, and the worker there said “it never left Manchester NH”. I have the online tracking that clearly says it left the Manchester NH facility on April 4th. And arrived to Sacramento CA on the 8th. I’m so angry right now
Thieves they stole and sold my guitar I sent to Florida I believe this is where my 3000.00 guitar was sold from after I paid them to ship it to Florida
I recently purchased a les paul from Reverb.com on November 20 and the seller shipped it out the very next day and immediately got the tracking system. I think because of Thanksgiving it got delayed as of the 25th but hasn't updated since then. Contacted the seller who contacted his USPS rep. It's been a couple of weeks now but still. Their excuse was "maybe it got on the wrong truck, because we're between Thanksgiving and Christmas and Covid-19."
USPS lost some of my packages and when I went to the post office to report it, the woman at the front counter said all she can do is ask the mailman/mailwoman that delivered it. USPS is a fucking joke.
DANI Z At the USPS OFFICE IN NORTH HILLS CALIFORNIA 91343 NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED!!! I had a 1 of 1 painting coming up missing IMMEDIATELY AFTER I DROP IT OFF AT THEIR OFFICE! HOW DOES A PACKAGE 35 x 24 just VANISH??! NO TRACKING HAS UPDATED. NEVER MADE IT TO MISSIONS HILLS!
My package from Japan is stuck on Pre-shipment and now I am worried. I’m supposed to get my package on April 2 or later by April 12. I see no change in tracking status. 😰
What dont you get about how can a package get delivered without an address, missing address label, or nothing inside the package to figure out who it goes to. Why dont you report on how much effort goes into looking for a valid address to deliver or return the mail!
And it's so difficult to be compensated for the loss even if filling a claim. And the mail is considered government and ask yourself who does the government belong to? Ok.......
Of course not.. its looked as an income for them.. Plus, who is it auctioned off to?... They need to forced to store the items for 2 year before they can be sold after multiple attempts to deliver... or take away the money made from the items when their budget extensions are made.
Dude, she made a quilt for her relatives, she was not buying anything. She used the postal service because it is normally a trusted source of getting things to go places that would normally be a hassle to do yourself. How would you feel if you made your parents or other relatives something that you spend months on only to be sold off by the very company you trusted to bring it to them?
@@lilithdekatzethethird1290 where did that come from? It’s just an observation, people go nuts over that next thing the want to get a hold of so it can collect dust in their house
write the correct address of sender and receiver...... Double check the address Triple check the address and tape the barcode, NOT the edges of packaging slip
