I am a student in one of the top iits (i won't disclose the name for personal reasons).....in our college most of the CS students are placed at High paying salaries but the catch is that only 25% of those jobs are related to CS...rest 75% jobs are related to management or of some other field. The reality is that majority ppl are not interested in the subject and they only chase high salaries..... even ppl from mechanical and electrical branch learn coding on their own and are placed in top MNCs
In new IITs, majority of jobs during placement are in CS field. Even management or non core are not present enough for non CSE students. Hence many remains unplaced even after getting degree from IIT
The erosion of professionalism in society is a worrying trend, and it's often fueled by narrow-minded attitudes that prioritize technical skills over a broader understanding of the profession. While coding proficiency is undoubtedly an essential part of being a good engineer, it's by no means the only one. Thus, I find it regrettable that the video you mentioned seems to overlook this fact, and instead promotes a reductionist view of the discipline. I must say, I'm disappointed that such a simplistic message would gain traction in our community. It's vital to keep education and career separate, as they serve different purposes. Education is a means to acquire knowledge and develop critical thinking skills that are essential for success in any field. It's not just about getting a job, but about being prepared to face challenges and contribute to society. Ultimately, if you're qualified and committed to your profession, opportunities will come your way. However, that doesn't mean you should neglect the bigger picture and focus solely on technical skills. A truly professional engineer is someone who understands the broader context of their work, has strong ethics and communication skills, and is committed to lifelong learning. Let's not forget that.
@@aflah03 We believe that qualified professionals are essential for the country, and individuals without degrees should not be considered for large-scale projects. Without a degree, they lack the necessary documentation to validate their knowledge and credibility.
I don't think CS degree is useless ever. You learn a lot and you use those ideas a lot. A CS degree is not to make you a developer, rather it is to make you understand the core logic behind computer science. Personally I have learned a lot through my CS degree. Even though I don't use my learnings everyday, I learned the basics concepts of every subjects which made my fundamentals strong. And I don't think courses are outdated. These courses just introduce you to the basics which are important to learn the core concepts. And I think we use these concepts all of the time but we just dont relate to it. For example you learn about multi threading, paging, memory management, databases, payloads, tcp, udp, databases, etc in CS Core courses which is equally important to sofware engineers. So please don't think that doing CS degree is useless.
Completely agree on that. CS != coding. Its much more. Coding is just a way to tell machine what you want to do. Computer science is much more. It is more of study of how computation happens. and as you said Saurav, CS core concepts are very much used in day to day work. One more thing, software engineer just dont create apps / website. Backend software engineer work on very tough problems, and sometimes even write patents / research-paper in their job. TBH, I dont like when computer science is shown like a fashion-show. Seen ads of coding-classes (want to get into FAANG drama). Also, there is a reason why people go on to do Ph.D in computer science, why research papers are written in the field, its not that simple. And for God, professor dont teach outdated syllabus. To all Indian students, please give respect to your teachers always!
But a cs degree is more focused on theory and not the practical implementation atleast here in India. You can get the same knowledge from an online course. There are so many people who have built their skills by learning from online courses, youtube or bootcamps. My college didn't help me at all with building my skills. I only go to college to write exams and nothing else. I'm preparing by myself and I've also joined a bootcamp that will help me get a job.
@@hemanagandla6195 So this is a misconception that CS degree will make you a job ready person. CS is more about theory. Not everyone wants to be a software engineer. Some wants to pursue AI or Cybersecurity or big data or devops or any other related field or some wants to even become a professor. So covering all aspect is not possible right? And if you want to learn only software engineering, there are tons and tons of bootcamps. You can do that. But CS is not only software engineering. If you feel like you are not being job ready after pursuing CS then you have not researched well before taking a CS and this is a major problem of all.
@@pranavsaxena4861 I never knew professors teach in college. Being in reality, I only have to self-study all academic subjects, even when wasting time in monotonous lectures, for the sake of attendance, while also studying come coding, to maybe get even one unpaid internship to be grateful for, not, while just being able to complete 80% of syllabus, which still does not help in securing a decent GPA. What's the point of degree after all, when I can just sit at home and learn all these, or maybe attend courses related to CS, while wasting time going and coming college, for nothing, but just some criteria called attendance.
Hey man! Great video!! A small request, can u make a detailed video on how I can get into foreign universities for undergrad, like from scratch.. I've seen videos on it but idk what to do exactly.. It'll be so help helpful if u covered everything in it like scholarships as my financial background isn't that good enough to study in abroad and also on how I can improve my application as, for now i don't have many extra curricular's, thank you!
I'm Glad you posted this comment, I also want to get into Foreign university, I have watched a lot means a lot but I still do not know how to get into it. Hopefully singh will make a video on it from scratch or show it to us with an Upcoming Undergraduate and helping him with attending Foreign University.
Hey dude, i feel this video would help, i have landed internships after watching him in 10th grade itself. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OwppddCNfbI.html
Nice to see you again here on another video, keep it up, u r a true inspiration to new students my son did got acceptance at GSU for CS by following you and also he got acceptance at MSU, pen state, verginia tech, IIT chicago, NCSU he is little confused to finalize his college
Namaste sir, I'm Dhruv, from India... I've just completed my class 12 and seeking to pursue my future in ios and Android app development. I'm having MacBook Pro M2. I have very basic knowledge of python that is taught in Class 12. So sir, could you please make video on RU-vid if I want to begin my app developer journey from zero level...
Thank you Bhai Harnoor brother, watched your videos all the way from Australia brother, thank you for putting subtitles/captions on all your videos for us English speakers thank you bhai💯🐐🐐🐐🐐🇦🇺
Sorry bro, I don't agree that the curriculum taught in college is of no use to job. The only difference is that we now use wrapper code over the underlying principles. If you really learn it well and infer the application and could correlate with tech around you, then you are good
If you DO NOT have good hold on core Computer Science subjects, you CAN NOT design good systems, and the world is not solely about Application engineers only, but also low-level programmers and researchers. The way you said you don't use networks and OS, shows a preety immature of you, you will realize soon when youwill reach the higher levels of engineering.
All the people on this channel; Arpit, you, Aryender, Apurv, Faizan and Srujan are inspirational man, esp regarding tech. Seriously one of my favourite channels to watch,
Nice video, I really appreciate your clear and simple breakdown on financial pitfalls! I lost so much on Crypto's, but now making around $9000-$12000 every week trading different on stocks and Cryptocurrencies...
Same here, with my current profit of $59,000 made from my investment with Mr Charles Bill's trading platform I'm totally convinced, he's the best trading broker I have worked with and his strategies are so easy to adapt, he’s such a blessing to me especially in this current dip
Mr Charles is the best expert trader I have seen on a certified broker, I've invested with him for years. Profits are secured and over a 100 percent return on investment. Everyone he processes his or her trade is so lucky, all you have to do is believe in him and follow his guidance. Then sip your drink and relax.
Hi, I'm in 11th and a pcb student. Can you plz make a video on the eligibilty criteria for getting into Standford or any mba University in USA?? I'll be really thankful to you for that!:)♥️ Also, do they allow pcb students to get into mba universities in USA??
What people don't tell about the education in US is, out of 100 companies that come to campus, less than 10% sponsor for visas or take international students. For some countries it is difficult to get a greencard and get more jobs. Many jobs require citizenship due to security reasons. Also, there are consultancies in US who market people's resume with fake experience, do fraudulent activities in H1Bs. Hopefully these things get fixed and help genuine people.
Hi... i am now pursuing my 12th grade and I am looking forward to study BSc event management degree in US or Canada . Could you please tell me whether it is worth spending more than one crore on this degree?? Are there any good opportunities in this field??? Please please please let me know 🙏
It's really helpful, please watch entire video. I myself is a software engineer and build one startup as well and from non technical background. Planning to move to US for master for research and accelerate my startup.
If you are able to clear jee and get into the iits then go for jee and if u couldn't..and u r able to manage finance for study in abroad then go to abroad
Only one thing to say WTF. I am from an elite school and work in a fortune 200 as chief architect and makes close to 4crs. If you say a kid who did computer science will make 4cr is BS. Do not pick outliers to say CS grads makes that much. Stop creating such false hope. At google level 7-8 at makes that much money (500K) per year. You get stock (RSU) but will be vested after 4 years how can you consider that as a salary as there is so much unknown. if you get 100K bonus who provides the assurance that you will get even 50%. Show me an offer whose base salary is even close to 250K without outliers. Stop this nonsense to create false hope. Do not consider someone consulting for $180 per hour as there is no asassurance that it will continue for years.
Is Ms in CS one yea is as valid as two year programme for job seekers. If they don't want to do PhD then is it ok to do one year of masters so that they do not waste money and time. Can you make a vlog Harnoor. Most of them wants and lot's of confusion behind this.
All these trading companies are indeed very high paying but they mostly have extremely bad work-life balance, isn't that right? So is it worth it at the end? How do we decide? I am confused here.
Hi harnoor I am a grade 11th student precisely I came in 11th 5 days ago and I am very scared and terrified I am expecting around 85 or 86 percent in board examinations and want to go abroad after 12th somehow I managed to gather courage and started doing coding courses and participating in extra curricular activities to build portfolio but still I am very extremely terrified that 10th marks will break my dream and wanted to ask that is the percentage good for getting admission in the best colleges in the world maybe somewhere like us Canada aur aus Hope you reply and that's it Thankyou
bhai physics ka background hei to kisi coaching (acchi)mein teacher bna jaao dba ke paisa dete hein unacademy waaley to starting package hi 15 lakh ka rkhte hein bhai

Harnoor don't be a dogla. If you want to peddle online courses or great lakes make an ad become a model. Don't window dress an ad in your vlog. 9 minute ka ad bahut lamba hota hai
