Thank you for the advice. Would you say the same thing to older unmarried people. I"m really fucking up with my chances of a good suitor if I go get a degree. And I won't even do Phd, probably masters. My chances of getting into an excellent institution is laughable. My only solace is that I'm in a high paying industry that gives me more money than the average salary in Europe for the same job.
@@invaderg3332 Well I don’t understand why phd will reduce marriage chances. You can get married to another phd student in the lab or university. I have seen many such cases take place
Walmart USA is currently hiring for positions such as Senior Manager of Operations, Design, and Strategy. All members of my Indian community residing in the USA who meet the desired qualifications should consider applying. Best of luck to everyone! (Date:20/03/2024)
Thanks for covering this! I have 7 years of experience and m struggling to land a job in US. Its very scary for international students in US :( Hope things will get well in 2024
market may be good, but its all in math, h1b: 80 k, atleast 300K people filing it(200K + international students), we will have to hear so many horror stories soon, feels bad man @@SuranjanaVlogsUSA
I have been residing in the USA for over 10 years and currently hold a Green Card. I work in a mid-level management position at a leading technology firm. If you were to ask me in 2024+, I strongly advise against coming to the USA for a career in computer science/IT. Job opportunities are increasingly shifting towards India, particularly in offshore positions. Currently, there are graduates from prestigious institutions such as MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley seeking employment in the USA, leading to intense competition. Additionally, an interesting observation is that my American boss has offered me a promotion if I recruit individuals in India and form a team based there, as it offers a significantly better return on investment.
Is it ok to come if I get admission in the teir 1 universities? What are the kind of salaries to expect, to understand the return on investment of this v v expensive education?
Tbh, university ranking really does not matter here in USA. If you have the skills required for a job, you will easily land a job (depending on the market situation). 80k-120k USD is an average salary is what you can expect irrespective of other factors.
Education is Important, but even before moving to US, UK, CAN or any other country you should have a Network of people from different companies. Once you complete studing you should be able to reach them for a Internship or a Job....
Use your brain. 1 year program means that you don't have time to do INTERNSHIP or MAKE CONNECTIONS which means that your job search will become impossible. You'll have to go back to India after your program. It's not necessarily a bad thing. if you want to go back to india, go back. More power to you! GO BACK TO INDIA YOU INDIANS!!!!@@rohangupta1411
@@rohangupta1411 I watched and also heard the same stories over and over from mediocre students. Even if you watch the entire video he is also indirectly discouraging 1 year programs.
@@rohangupta1411if you were really aware, you'd know that 90% of 1 year program do not have an internship program. So mediocre candidate would have a mediocre work ex and grades before. Not enough to secure a full time without a summer internship.
5 years ago I ran into came to know 3 people. They tried 3 years still was not getting job. Finally I asked them a question how long you're going to hang around. Is it worth it or you go back home with your family and start something there? In 6 months later I heard they all went back home. You got to know when it's over and when you don't need to waste your time. You need to know your deadline
Usa 🇺🇸 is still better that you guys are doing great and doesn’t seem like a much of a problem ! Canada, Australia and Europe is going through worst times.
I felt so relatable when he said it’s so hard to maintain professionalism while building relationships for us, I feel you bro I had the same problem in Europe
@NXS443 When he said during networking most of his Indian friends were talking about the job but then an American just walked and started talking about general life in a friendly way that made him stand out. We need to know where to keep it professional and where we go a bit more personal to connect with the person but still maintain the boundary.
One STEP at a aTIME try for a job in Mall if you have an MBA, its a very good time to meet lot of well dressed people who are important at big companies........
Thanks harnoor for the video, but only one thing I would like to say anyone going abroad for masters/work do not worry there are still jobs and plenty of opportunities but only for SKILLED INDIVIDUALS, so keep hustling if you have skills you will definietley end up at very good place. For eg, those who were really skilled and got laid off they are still doing well some got even better jobs, some started their own business so they just took it as opportunity and the people who actually didn't saw any layoff/recession majorly are the ones talking much around recession.
In the coming Next 10 years It will not matter which university you graduated from. DO not waste money on this, do certifications, gain experience and improve your communication skills. that's it.
Same truth in Australia as well. People from child care, aged care are straight away taken as leads and delivery managers. It really hurts when you are holding a masters degree and 3-5 yrs of work exp and still doesn’t even get an interview call. One more problem in USA is people are doing 2-3 IT jobs ilegaly which is eating up opportunities for many students
Thats why I moved back to India after working on H1 for few years. Worked hard made good contacts and went back with a remote job. Still working remotely for US client from my home in tier-2 city since last 6 years.
Time for india to build our own capabilities. Technical universities, increased collaboration with Indian industries, and increase our manufacturing capacity and industries including semiconductors and other critical tech.
MBA in USA, if not in the Top Ten Business schools is not of much use. Secondly, unless you exhibit extraordinary skills, US companies prefer Native American candidates for MBA related jobs who they feel more suitable in management kind of roles.
Its the time, if you need a job go to Macys, or any big mall you will find a job in sales/marketing if you have MBA and you can save your OPT. In holidays you will meet lot of people who are very important from big companies, strike a good conversation and there you will find a job.....
I agree; a very small percentage of the Graduates from US universities from India land a job. The strategy during these harder times would be to find internships, while studying, and also to start the job hunt quite early and not wait till the end of graduation.
Ye yahi classmate hai jo hamesha bolta hai ki me average hoon and he always tops in a class. LOL. Great interview Harnoor. Love from Tokyo. I work at Rakuten as a Senior Product Manager. I hope to get a chance to interview with you soon.
Good wishes from Multani Indians, #multaniindians, Thanks for sharing your views on current situation of U. S. This definitely will give an idea to the people who are looking for employment opportunities in U. S.
Both of you have to see the forest for the trees. You both are living is the US long enough to understand this. It is a capitalist country so policies are revolved around money, finance etc. You have to understand whether it is tacit or tactical reasons behind bubble bursts. They all happened for reasons. Try to find reasons why US Govt wants a recession in the country when things are looking good in general. Why FED is sticking with 2% inflation. Big IT companies laid off employees even though their Financial statements were strong. Is someone asking them to do so? Has salary hike demands by IT employees crossing the limit? Has other non tech professions suffered? Young generation from non tech finding difficult to survive? Is manufacturing making a come back to the US? Find you answers and planthe future accordingly. Just remember cash is the king for next few years for sure so invest wisely. I always think scientists, Phds, MBAs, bachelors etc educated people are nothing but working class labour required to run businesses owned by shrewd people.
World population in 1947......40 crores. In 2023......800 crores. World should reduce population, to reduce all our problems. All countries, should reduce 50%, population.
If you are not getting a job in India can understand the competition we have here, however if you are not getting a job in USA or any other country then you are ? Sorry to say this.
Almost 35 years ago, my brother-in-law used to say that he did graduation graduation Bombay I I T. Everybody knows how difficult it is . He was a polo engineer. He worked there also in India. Then he did his p h d in Polymer signs in w state University of michigan. Most smartest down-to-earth person I came to know in my life. He always says it's not important which University or college you go name has nothing to do with it. Grow yourself. That's all matters.. When he was starting, he was teaching also and he did receive from student as a best teacher Award. Which recommended by the student I believe it did twice. He passed over five years ago with a blood cancer. And I see he work till the end. 1 week before he passed over his job. Working from home company was great with him because he was dead genius. And sometimes you're lucky to find that kind of company and engineering that they're also nice.
I have some things to point out in this video. It's okay that he is correct in his way. I am currently an undergrad here, and to be honest I would say making connections as Indian is the easiest way. Right now I am in Phi Theta Kappa in my college. I easily have a large number of connections where I get into colleges like NYU, NJIT, and Rutgers. But man the main thing is I play D3 soccer and I made very much connection because of soccer. Its somewhat misleading as a student here.
According to me, Networking doesn't matter if you have proper or extra ordinary skills. Maybe this Networking things not happen in California as i have never seen these kond of networking in Los angeles, nobody cares here if you don't have proper skills for the job.
GAtech has a great business school but always remember that all programs aren't the same. The rankings are driven by the full time MBA program. The STEM MBAs were created to attract international students because of the 3-year OPT.
its very relatable for my boyfriend whose name is YUVAN. So in the intro where u said 'HELLO EVERYONE' sounded like 'HELLO YUVAN'😂 he is happy. Otherwise great content.
I/m surprised he being an MBA scholar doesn't see this. The US economy is dwindling. With decreasing sell of US treasury bills, and recently 30 year US treasury bond yield going unsold, the USD's value is going down. More and more businesses are switching their bases to India and other Asian countries and targeting clients more in and around South East Asia and Middle East and this could be one of the reasons for mass lay offs and no new hiring. Also, with rising multi-currency/bilateral trading currencies/deals increasing globally, the difficult task for the US is that even if America brings industries home, then the entire pay-scale to the salary value has to be reset and be brought down to cover expenses along with massive job cuts. Add to this, the cut-offs in even benefits. Thinks are looking bleak for the US, as of now. You'd be surprised there are already so many Westerners and US citizens of Indian origins who have started "hunting down real estates/properties/land" in India and the South-East Asia .
In my opinion, mad rush is because of two things. 1. Dollar difference 2. Poor educational infrastructure in India due to reservation policy In my opinion, maximum percentage of Indian works in IT sector. If you really look at early days of US IT sector, our IITians, engineers has replaced US undergraduates in IT sector. In my opinion, it's best time to return back to India after completing your education and support Indian economy. That's long-term shot.
I got education from reservation. Passing marks was 50 points for me, just like everyone else. So reservation created an educated person how is it the reason?
Have been watching your videos for a while but particularly Loved this interview. It was very very relatable are similar to what people experienced in 08 crash as well

No jobs next 20 years every western country and depression is coming just starting and better to stay India next 20 years for India all western country will go down
Plenty of jobs are available for Indians throughout the world As Indians have better talents, knowledge STEM, SKILLS, intelligence, expertise and technology compared to other countries people .Even Americans are afraid of Indians due to high level of talents and brain .
@@steelbubble1921 Because the entire dicourse of the west being better than india is predicated upon the strength of dollar being the reserve currency of the world. In the next decade the dollar will no longer be the reserve currency of the world and when that happens there wouldnt be much incentives for indians to go and settle in the west. So film culture in bollywood who started basing their movies in the west and people like singh in USA and others who through their youtube videos have made a image of the west as some utopian and aspirational land will all come crashing down. But before the crash happens things would get a lot worse for westerners, economy wise. In the next decade or even earlier NRI's would start moving to india and settle here. The west is a civilization in a decline and the east on contrary is a ascending power like the east was for more than 5000 years with india being the center. Knowledge always flowed from east to the west and this is what the world will be moving towards in the next decade.
