Just to tell you as an daily railway user in Janakpur, lemme inform u this ain't Nepali railway, Its Indian railway... The train gives Rs.44K everyday as custum duty to nepal to enter in nepal. There s been a agreement betn Indian and nepal government for that. THE JANAKPUR-JAINAGAR RAILWAY IS NOT NEPALI, ITS INDIAN RAILWAY. RAMAYAN EXPRESS PAYS 44K TO ENTER IN NEPAL.

In Nepal, particularly in hilly regions is not manageable. Ev trucks and buses will be more efficient. If Shigatse could just connect to 5 hilly borders to China and big dry ports can be established on Nepal side for trade. Nepal could get technical support from china to make mid-hill expressway, also connecting to terai and mountain borders. Terai east west railway will be good. A better railway would be to connect Haldiya to Raxaul freight railway. Considering how railway is used worldwide, freight railway is more efficient than passenger railway. Also hydrogen would be better than maintaining electric infrastructure. Two sides of outer kathmandu would be good for passenger railway while inner can be serviced by ev bus RT and bicycle friendly routes. The outer kathmandu rail will aslo remove congestion in inner and improve home affordabilty. Ropeways should connect all hill mountain areas.
