A subscriber has told me that is easy to earn £250 per day mowing lawns. Not today I say. The weather won’t allow.

That’s why I’m now targeting areas near my house - new estates - that gave exactly the same size of laws, not too big, so you can mow and move, mow and move.

It's been mad for the last 5 months the amount of jobs I've had to put off , move , cancel until the weather improves has been infuriating , luckily I've had some fencing and decorating jobs to fill in , effing weather is really pissing me off

Seems the weather in the upper left corner of the US is identicle to Mother England all the time! Most good advice for me comes from UK gardeners. Good channel, Rob!

Agree Rob, the weather has been relentless. After 6 weeks recuperating from surgery and needing to replenish the war chest, it feels like the weather is just relentless in its attempts to derail me this year. Today has been a touch better in north notts once we go the early morning rain out of the way and mild winds have dried the lawns out quickly this afternoon. Let’s hope it is a sign of things improving! 🤞🏼

I WORK FOR A COMPANY AT THE MOMENT, (IM GOING ON MY OWN AGAIN THIS SUMMER) AND HE HAD US OUT CUTTING THE FKN GRASS AT SOME SITES TODAY EVEN THOUGH I SAID IT SHOULDNT BE DONE, GUESS WHERE HE WAS ? SITTING IN HIS 700K HOUSE IN ST ANDREWS WITH HIS FEET UP ALL DAY WHILE WE ARE OUT IN THAT MESS

I think you should be doing £180-£220 a day as a self employed gardener but sometimes every days different so I would look at your gross income monthly then see what profits left

Yeah getting sick of the rain not gonna lie :( Luckily I have been able to do most of my visits and focus on odd jobs like borders and jetwashing whilst I havent been able to cut the grass and all the customers are happy with it and understand. (for now)

It's growing like mad at the minute! Wise words as always , I must admit.. I can't believe that garden! I'm lucky living on the coast basically on the side of a mountain and even though we have solid clay not that far down under the ground the gradient down to the sea is enough to keep the garden's not dry but manageable 👌 I hope it gets better over that way for you very soon my friend! It's been a very tough year so far

I was out mowing today aswell, pretty much had a bow wave in front of the mower 😂 had to be done as it’s only going to get longer and need to keep up with my schedule

Good on you Rob, maybe you could have an alternative on the back burner, such as fencing or decking, on the understanding that you drop onto it when you cant cut grass?

I reckon I’m about 2 to 3 weeks behind on my expected turnover for this time of the year. I still have 3 customers whose lawns are too wet to get 1st cut done. All others are 2 cuts in, but I’d expect to have been at least 3 visits in. What I’m definitely behind on is Scarifying as I don’t like to scarify very damp and wet lawns. Down days due to the weather are an occupational hazard that need to be dealt with. Great post as ever Rob.

Hi Rob totally agree difficult couple of weeks ground so wet. Look forward to brighter warmer weather. Being ex military myself I don't find it hard to work in bad conditions however you can cause more damage than good so you need to know when to leave alone. Have a good weekend Graham

Should not be a problem....though not ideal...to continue cutting in the rain.....modern machinery...ie backpack blowers...think carefully how you go about the work and you will achieve a good result in poor conditions....yes it does your head in having to constantly unblock the mowers...and not leave lumps of wet grass everywhere all over the place😊...but you will have continued to earn....a result for both you and the client

I had exactly the same this Tuesday, I use a KAAS Pro mower. Excellent machine, but heavy! Ended up painting the stables instead! Work is work! Keep going chap.

Your mind set is key! I wasn’t very motivated last March but this year I’ve been more focused & determined to go out & earn! And yes some people are clueless over the running costs of a business or they simply just look down on some professions & don’t think we should be earning a profit & just be charging minimum wage!

I do garden clearances and jet washing as side lines- can do that in any weather. Might be worth a try especially getting all the patios and decking clean for the summer could be a nice earner

It's been a terrible few weeks up here in Glasgow First cuts all done but grass not growing much at all On really wet days I still go out but might spend less time at some jobs or cancel a few gardens Cheers mate

Wet as a fish's backside in Shropshire, rain seems to of been everyday in March now into April. I've only just started last weekend when it wasn't to bad. Working tomorrow on some first cuts as it looks ok. It's doing my head in trying to organize my diary!! 😭😂👍🏻

When the rain eventually stops and the sun comes out the grass will be turbo charged. And yes do as many down time jobs as you can to make yourself more productive when tbf sunshine starts.

"spend all that money on a van" sore point right now. I've had to bite the bullet and get a new (to me) van. I always say I never stress over cutting grass. But in reality we all do to some degree. When we wake up and see it peeing down. Nothing worse! But say la vie. As for cutting in all weather's. Words fail me...... All the best Rob.

Different subject but do you ever use a mulching mower to reduce waste problems? Seems like the perfect solution. Just starting out and wondering which mower to get first.

Hi rob, in my first year grass cutting/garden maintenance, if you don't mind me asking how much is that lawn for a simple cut? Im thinking£20/£25 a fortnight... Struggling to get lawn jobs in at the moment, my minimal pricing is £15, but most customers want garden maintenance which i charge£40 for two hours every fortnight but im trying to stay clear of them for reasons you know. Give me half a dozen£20 lawns a day and i will be a happy man, problem is finding them!

I don’t know how u cope with full books and all this rain, I’m in my first season and it’s very slow and I’m also struggling pricing as when I get work it takes way longer than I thought, so I’ve upped my last couple of quotes and got told I’m too expensive 🙄. I’ve just got a part time delivery job though to take a bit of the pressure off

If you're unsure on pricing, just go by £30 a hour for example and them add a few more quid on top

Not for grass cutting. With a good big mower you can cover a huge area in just half an hour- id be charging around 25 pounds per lawn if it takes half an hour @JDMM92

It looks like you’re on clay Rob. Where I am it’s very sandy soil and I’ve never seen a garden waterlogged like that one. Of course come the summer droughts the grass will go brown here while yours is still lush and green.

I'm looking at other factors to make money now. The climate is definitely changing rapidly with erratic weather from droughts to floods. I've had a bad week with income but using the time to explore other opportunities in marketing. It's getting harder to close deals since the cost of living
