Wouldn't the little attached pad be the solution for not burning your fingers as the tip heats up when adjusting it?

These are the bare minimum stations i reccomend for beginners especially for more precise work. If you have shipping price issues you can buy it from aliexpress instead

Yea I just got a similar type for around that price point Ben got solder too there’s definitely some bargains to be had if you look around , hey my trainers work just fine without a tick on the side 😅

I have one of these badged as a different name, they heat up so fast, got various bits and tips for it, have it as a secondary but bang for buck it’s great

Yeah that whole aligning thing looks like a pita but for the price it does offer a lot more options than just a regular plug in iron for just a little more cash.

If you don't change tips too often the alignment thing would wind up being a non-issues, but it is something they should fix.

Just yesterday I was ordering a $4 part and the shipping was $9. Kinda sucks when that happens. I ended up canceling and ordering it from somewhere else. My POV on this is when we buy stuff that's in-country already, the shipping costs to get it there are reflected in the retail price. When we buy stuff in China, those costs are not applied to the retail price. So to come out ahead--this may sound silly--you need to buy more. That spreads the shipping costs out over more things and you benefit from the lower list price. Kinda screwy, but I'm pretty sure that's how this all works.

Yeah, that is an annoying thing. One other comment said these tips don't use the holes on the bottom for contact, that the sides are responsible for contact. Whatever it is, that was a little annoying. However, once set, it seemed fine and worked well.

Is the Temperature reading accurate? Don’t you have a IR temperature gun?

I put the gun on it but it wasn’t accurate. It showed 30c. However, at 350, solder melted pretty quickly so comparing it to my Hakko, I’d say it out out completely sufficient heat for small work pieces. I did not try any heavy jobs to stress test for maintaining temp because it didn’t come with tips designed for heavier gauges. So bottom line, it puts out plenty for lighter workloads.
