The worst creatures in this game are the ones that don't give you a warning call and it's rare to witness a reaper that doesn't. At least it didn't carry you into the void and drop you.
it probably did before the clip started, in the data entry it says that they stalk their prey and circle around them for a flank attack. Had a situation where I thought everything was..... too quiet.. turned around and a reaper nearly destroyed my seamoth
@@behavior2836 yes, those moments are deafening. Mapping out the dunes a reaper charged me from overhead with little warning. Luckily I was nestled inside a pocket in the ground with my Prawn. I'm sure it would have carried me to the edge of the map if I hadn't hid.
@@Lycurgus1982 reapers actually do that a lot, everytime you go through reaper leviathan area and you dont hear one its probably chasing quietly behind you
Reapers often don’t scare me much anymore like they did during my first playthrough, but there was this one time I was chasing after one to kill it (at nighttime no less) and I lost sight of it. Looking around I saw A Reaper which I thought was the one I was chasing. Nope it wasn’t, I turned around to get some distance and saw the Reaper I was initially chasing. And at that point I just booked it.
Reapers aren't as scary as they used to be in early access. 1. There are creatures objectively way scarier in the game now lol 2. The spawning of reapers is now only centralized to a very few select areas. Knowing where they spawn now helps massively with knowing where they are. Like for example in earlier builds they used to spawn all around the Aurora meaning you couldn't approach from any direction without risk of reapers. 3. Reapers are alot less persistent now and don't wander as much. In earlier builds these mfs would follow you to the end of the earth and even leaped out of the water after you. Now they give up after short chases. Also they don't leave their spawn locations. In old Subnautica they would traverse any part of the map once they spawned in. Even the safe shallows.
I always said I prefer the Reaper over the chelicerate because at least you can tell the Reaper’s here and coming with that loud ass roar of his compared to the cheli who only does a small roar the second he’s in your face. But then situations like these take place as if the Reaper wants to prove he’s scarier than the cheli. Don’t worry little Timmy, you are.
Ye i noticed that if there is a Reaper and it becomes completely silent then there is a high chance that it goes straight for you. Happened to me as well but i was outside and it focused my vehicle.
Bro I got a Heated Knife and a Laser cutter just like 2 hours into my newest world. Just went straight to Officer Keen’s lifepod in the greenish area and found the time capsule. Hot damn though was I about to die, panicked by a blood sucking parasite and 12 seconds of oxygen. It was hard mode too. Damn this game man, but bless the guy who gave me that, saved me so much time with wreckages now.
I wish it was programmed to do this more often. Just show up completely unannounced, without making a sound during the approach. Particularly if you've been sitting still for a while.
I tell you, there is nothing more suited to explore the crash zone than prawn suit. I had this bad boy carry me through the entire landscape and exchange some blows with the dreaded red monsters. Riding a prawn really does make you feel invincible
I was exploring the mountain island earlier today, the underwater caves specifically, and I was near where you can find a purple tablet when I heard the reaper’s “”I’m coming for you” roar and I bolted back to the surface. I have no idea what happened. I mean I knew reapers could glitch into the walls, but it didn’t follow me up and it wasn’t there when I cautiously went back down to check.
Reapers are such dicks in the sense that they keep roaring when they're far away to scare you, but they're dead silent when right next to you causing you to shit yourself when you get caught out of nowhere.
and this is why the 1st game is still the most terrifying. Btw does punching do more dmg or drilling? there is this one noisy reaper who is my neighbor and I kinda wanna return the hospitality 😂
Punching is way more dps. One of the faster ways to down them is just double punch them to death. Dies in 3~ passes. Only thing faster is gas torpedo spam if you can get it locked in place
@@someone-ji2zb but the drill is still more useful than the fist,it does damage(even if less) but it still has more uses, and i ain't switching arms in the middle of a leviathan encounter
@@bcgazero6472 Yea, no big deal using it anyway, but mostly for a planned kill the double punch is the way to go. Not like it matters too much at the end of the day, only saves like 1-2 grabs
Devs disagree. Though they still consider elements of it to be more of a terror theme rather than horror. Which by definition makes sense. The fear is usually of what may happen, rather than the moment itself.
