I did this today on my '09 308. Was a bit of a mission! I also needed a 36mm socket for the hub nut. All of the bolts were a lot tighter than they are in this video...! The caliper bolts especially so - needed a well-fitting and good quality socket to not round them off. The T50 bolts were okay, as they are much less prone to rounding out. Oh, and the piston rewind was an absolute sod, becuase the brakes being so worn meant the tool wouldn't fit at first!! Thanks for the guide - it was V useful.

For people who watch this video and want change brakes. Dont forget the ABS Ring. İn the new disc there is often the abs ring not included.

If possibity of reusing hubnut always good idea to make an opposite notch with angle grindet for staking in fresh position.

On a 308 (T7) the hub nut requires a 36mm socket. And needs to be tightened at 300N.m.

What about the hydraulic plunger? You won’t get new pads in if the old ones are worn right down and the calliper plunger needs adjusting to fully open.

In that case you need to remove the cap from the brake reservoir and use a wind-back tool or piston compression tool. Don’t forget to replace the reservoir cap, start the engine and pump the brakes repeatedly until they firm up once you’ve finished.

How often do you have to change the break pads and rotors? Any signs that they are worn enough for a change? It is ok to only change the front or rear brakes? Not all at the same time
@screwsnutsandbolts
@screwsnutsandbolts 2 года назад
It depends on how hard you brake and how much mileage you put on the car. You usually change the pads every 10 to 20 thousand miles or when any one of the friction surfaces reach the minimum thickness and the rotors every 60 to 70 thousand miles or when they reach the minimum thickness, and yes it's ok to change just the front or rear brakes but never just one side of either.

Good job but when you disassemble all that stuf you should have show how to clean abs sensor (common problem on 307) , lubricate caliper guide pins,...etc

Thanks, this was just a basic demonstration on how to replace the discs. I might do another video on the abs sensor at some stage.

All the 307 are the same? I mean, all 307 have this kind of “assembly” of brake disk and hub or there’s another model with independent brake disk? Thank you so much. Greetings from Uruguay.
@screwsnutsandbolts
@screwsnutsandbolts Год назад
No they're not all the same. Some 307s might have disks independent from the rear bearing

Great video. Just one thing to note if you were to do it yourself: I’m guessing this is the SW? I have the Hatchback (308 -09) and the hub nut is 36mm instead of 32mm like this one. Thanks for a straight forward guide👍

It would be safer to buy new discs. It would be difficult to rectify them evenly at home

1:44 Before replacing the brake disc, you should replace the Tire, it's almost out of tread.
