Unrelated to the video, but do you guys find that there is a recently increased interest in Australia in building NA subaru engines? There’s a few small manufacturers in the US offering lower compression rods and blocks and such for FB and EJ NA engines now, and one of their engines just won the regional rally championship. Also, I absolutely love this build and can’t wait to see more!
Hey Woody, great episode mate. Does the auto sparky do larger jobs. I have a ht kingswood with a turbo ls set up in it. I have a haltech R5 to go in and a ic7 dash ect?
Mini wise Yoda? Hahahahaha the guy is a clown. He can't do anything. How many years did he sit side by side with Al and he still can't do anything by himself. What did he even do on this build? A little bit of welding on the exhaust? Hahahah useless.
Yeah, just chillin' wit Carl, normal day, nothin major.... Fark me, the Don, the 3 Deck Wizzard, the Man, the Myth and utter Legend that is Carl Cox. well done Woody.
Sick episode, looked like a tone of work. Loved the pipe work. I would build a chain driven supercharged ducati powered shopping trolley for supercheap - because is would like mad drag racing out of their store, hitting a ramp and flying (special effects) over their car park.
Hi from the other side of the world (UK) where the transits are everywhere. Enjoying the content and looking forward to the future episodes, would be great if we could do some of the conversions/projects in this country.
Woodrigos, seeing your mates rally around you to knock out an awesome build like this in a week was really sweet. Quality effort Woody, and you have some real good cunce for mates. Awesome to see you appreciate them and shout them out.
Maybe a throwback to my Childhood for a Vehicle reference. Land Rover thinking Leyland Brothers or maybe go Perentie (that was built by us for the Army), then Barra swap would be another Aussie reference.
Replace the ice cream van song with a launch control/ 2 step medley. Surely all the car blokes will pop out from under their cars for an icecream break!
I'd build a "Barbeq-ute". A 4wd hilux, Dmax, Navara type ute. Tray back decked for camping with a BBQ, under a metal frame canopy, doin egg & Bacon roles, steak sangers etc. Nice work on Mr Zippy Woody!
I can’t believe you got to drive this with the Carl Cox! Holy shit Woody! The guy is amazing! I bet he was like, “Holy shit! I can’t believe I get to ride in MrZippy with Woody!” Rock on Woody!
As far as a Project for Super cheap, i reckon one of those old school EL Fairlane Limos with a Turbo SOHC or even a supercharged windsor would be pretty funny.
Great to see you continuing the great work Woody. My build, an old Suzuki Sieara tray back made to look like a rock crawler but it has a rocking chair on the back with an "old coot with a blunderbas" shouting at all the noise and trying to load his gun as they chase off the "noisy" cars but the rocking chair rocking makes his powder and shot go all over the place as he tries to load.
I remember a episode of Happy Days when Fonzie got a job driving the Icecream Van, he thought it was to slow so he took it to he's Workshop and fixed it up, the Kids would hear the Music and run like crazy, but he was already past their House..🤣
ThTs wired as in the uk this was one of the best vans about as the Ford transit was it’s very reliable, great workhorse Builders delivery men like to use the Ford transit here in the UK. It’s probably one of the most common vans on the road.
Depends who you ask 🤷🏽♂️tradesmen in the UK swear by these transits there's loads around of this generation from the earliest 2002 02 plated ones or the later 2014 63 plate last of the line. My builders had one when they were doing my house that one was a bit shit very rusty 😂it failed it's MOT had no tax or insurance and they still drove it until they saw another on my road offered 750 for it and got it was far less rusty and actually passed an MOT lol
An idea that's been bouncing around in my head for a while that I would definitely build for Supercheap would have to be a backwards Falcon, the shell of a AU-BF Falcon Wagon put on top of a BA-BF Fairlane. They have the exact same wheelbase, plenty of access to the engine bay from what was the boot, etc. I think it would just be really quirky when moving, but (nearly) comply normal when parked
Rented one of those Transits years back and towed a car trailer with it, which I was nervous about being only 2.5 litre, but it did fine. Being of above average height, the Transit was very roomy compared with the Japanese vans I was used to. Even though it was 10 cube van handled well, especially compared with the Japanese ones. Noted it had 235s while our vans at work had 185s. Clearly designed for higher speeds. Oddly my observation was it would have been perfect with an LS. Clearly someone else had similar thoughts.
Well done, Looks amazing. My kids are excited to get in their pa's van. Im also telling them to keep it like this and start an icecream business for drag races haha
I haven't tuned in for awhile, but you look like have settled well and truly into the skid factory mkII. ultimate wacky car build would be like a Subaru Brumby with an overlander kit slapped on it.
The fresh fruit or seafood delivery cars at caravan parks are a classic. Some beat-up old rodeo Ute filled with fresh food, with a big donk in the front
For the Supercheap ad, I'd go find one of the old Japan Fire Service Datsun MK Patrols, swap the old petrol engine for an SD33T, stick it on a GQ patrol chassis with a stupidly big lift and tyres, and make sure the fire pump and everything on it is working. Probably hasn't got a huge amount of relavance to a supercheap ad, but it's a tiny Japanese fire truck which is just fkn mint.
Woodchip factory looking fresh with a side of sprinkles! Love the content mate from a farmer in northern nsw. For the next super cheap build I would do an old fj Holden, 6x6 off-road beast with a turbo diesel conversion out of an old tractor or something. Cheers
Keeping with the van theme. Gotta be a Suzuki Carry all with turbo 4agte. Still set it up as ice cream van but it'll be for little people. Snow Cream and the seven scoops.
We originally spoke about the project last year but it wasn't untill February when we locked in the transit! There was going to be a hovercraft but we came to the conclusion it would be too dangerous (and useless after the video).
thanks heaps for the OBD11 scanner and gift card... will come in handy 😃. now I have to wait till next year for you to start the next SCA oils campaign build!
Hey Woody, love the finished product, Mr Zippy looks wonderful! If I was given the chance to build something for supercheap with a budget, I’d build a mid- engined Subaru Fiori EZ36 turbo mated to a Porsche 911 turbo gearbox with limo tint so you couldn’t tell what was in it. 😄
Love the SCA ads, I reckon you need a pretty unique build these days... gotta start with something a bit left field, maybe a hearse on a 4x4 chassis with some big muddies? Or a hot rodded version of one of those tractors they use to collect trolleys in shopping centres?
love the Build Woody what about a Mini Bread Panel Van 4x4 with a midmount engine so it still looks like a mini van but the motor hidden in the back and enough room to drag a bread tray out that would be cool 😁😆😅 cheersQuinny
I reckon @SuperCheapAuto need to do like a “redline food delivery” and maybe the skid factory build is a small delivery car that’s hiding some surprises under the skin. So I’m thinking a Honda jazz with a k20/24 turbo that’s all about getting those food deliveries done quick smart.
Awesome video woody! I have such an appreciation for what goes into these videos behind the scenes… dropping hours and hours of footage into Final Cut Pro.. then to chop it to bits and be left with 8 minutes haha! I’d love to see Barra squeezed into a TG Holden Gemini…making them saucy boost noises!. Love your work bro! 😎
Might be a bit left field but for the next supercheap oils campaign, I'd love to see a boat.... not just any boat but think back to James Bond Live and Let Die, a Glastron GT-150 but running an OMC V8 outboard with external headers. Then use this to rip up a lake (Rick Kelly can drive it) while being chased by turbo CT110 postie bikes and jump out of the lake into the back of a twin turbo v8 kubota tractor towing a load of hay bales.
Stupid squared - love it! 😂 Great effort to turn it around so quickly. If I was planning a Supercheap Auto build, I'd build a 70's style VW Manx buggy with a WRX motor in the back, metal flake paint, and all the accessories that Supercheap could supply for the build. Fast, light, lairy, and as long as you can keep the head gaskets up to it, lots of fun too!
Great video! Always loved the Supercheap auto campaign builds! If I had to build something from them on a budgetish, I would do a k20 swapped Subaru wrx bugeye keep the awd and do a procharged set up and cammed.
Great work again Woody! I would love to build a go kart or a small buggy with a boosted 4AGE for the supercheap add, can’t beat the sound of a little 1.6L 👌🏻
G'day Woody, I'd build a hayabusa powered side by side. The steel framed ones are everywhere and people can't give em away and a motorbike engine and chain drive would be an easy fit. Love the work btw keep it up mate
Sweet Ep, looking forward to seeing the SCA ad campaign again this year, will keep an eye out for it. For the next build, a Hayabusa powered 'wheely' Golf Cart would be an absolute winner.
Given the opportunity I'd do a Suzuki Cappuccino with a 13B. Just a bridge port with a single turbo. Nothing too insane. Because even 300hp would turn that go kart into an utter rocket. Blue with white stripes and stick some Dodge Viper badges onto it. Just make sure it has a decent set of anchors too because you need the whoa to match the go.
Such an impressive amount of work done in a short time. Id personally build a toyota kp61 sprint with a 4age 20v blacktop in it... Id do that because i am currently build one lol. Love your vids and Hi from NZ🇳🇿
For a SCA ad, I'd take something weird that no one will miss like a Chrysler PT Cruiser and do the whole 1940s race car thing with the wheels at the front outside of the front guards with the front narrower and make some noir schtick outta it, fedora and all. Cause why not.
Bit sad we didn't get to see or hear much of mr zippy in the ad ! Is a nice Rig ! :D Since the ads always seems to corrupt utility vehicles into beasts, i'd build a v8 swapped vintage tractor ! turn the field worker into a mean machine !
I'd put a B16 in an older Mazda 2 (the model eith the really square back like a tiny van). I'd raise the height on coilovers and make a dirt racer. It'd have a huge bullbar for crashing through fences and driving through parks etc and big spotlights for seeing the other cars it hunts down lol.
Hey Woody ya legend I just watched the Super Cheap advert and you got to hang out with the absolute master of techno music DJ Carl Cox I'm so happy for you and a little bit jealous 😂 and he is a huge rev head and he owns drives a funny car You should try and get him into the Skid Factory for a something different Take care buddy and I love ya work mate 🔧❤️
@@theskidfactory brilliant if I got to hang out with him all I be doing is asking about is music 😂 I got to see him play last year it was cool Cheers for taking the time to reply to my message Woody 🙏🏻
Epic vid mate, I’d built a old falcon ute like a XW or XY but with a turbo diesel fitted and exhaust out bonnet, set car up as a old blokes wood cutting ute for supercheap
Woody, saw this in the ad and thought it was briliant. Pity you don't hear much of the "whoosh whoosh burble", that would've been cool. Next Super Cheap build? Hmmm.... LS swapped Jet Ski would be a pretty extreme beast.....
