This is the first time I have seen shocks put on without a vehicle jacked up and or without taking off the tire. I believe I can DO IT myself after watching you work❣️🖤😌 You are appreciated❣️

@@backyardchevy328 I just finished the job…. I got way more dirty than you did. But I did leave the wheels on like in your video. That saved me that additional step. Now it’s off to get gas for a shake-down run. My kid is driving it 300 miles tomorrow. It should behave way better on the highway.

So just wondering is this safe without jacking up the vehicle does it put any stress on other suspension?
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 года назад
Yes its safe to do so..since its just a shock absorber the spring is what will carry and hold the weight of the truck..the shock absorber is just meant to absorb the springs motion..but being thats its standing still theres no spring motion
@samb7603
@samb7603 3 года назад

@@jonz2989 no, not if u dont lift it..the spring is what holds the weight of the truck, the shock absorber just absorbs and dampens the movement of the spring

Is it ok to lift the rear when doing this? My big butt won't fit under there like that, LOL! Also, it seems like you are using a regular shock instead of the premium ride or nivomat shocks, did you already do the spring swap in order to use those?
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 4 года назад
Yes, i would just place the jackstands on the axle tubes so the rear axle doesnt drop down any when u remove the shock(if left hanging in air)...yea the springs are still the originals.
