I have some of the most complex, expensive and fantastic VST instruments ever made. Despite that, I don't think I have a single published track (10 albums over 13 years) that doesn't employ the use of Subtractor. I have over 400 custom patches that I've programmed in Subtractor, maybe half of which were programmed from scratch. This is easily the most versitile and overall useful soft synth I own. I started programming with it in Reason v2 and haven't stopped since. As simple as it is, it remains my favorite soft synth and is definitely my go-to tool for quick capture of ideas.
Been using this synth since ver 1. It was the only virtual analog one available in the beginning. Made so much good music with it over the last 20 years.
I can't explain it, but your one video thought me "what" to do with a synth, as opposed to how. It's like finding the meaning of life in software synth terms. Wow. I've seen almost everything on youtube related to Reason. Haven't checked your channel, but I pray I find something on Thor.
Fam, this is one of the greatest videos on Subtractor Ive ever seen. I been using Reason for damn near a decade and didnt know you could do all this!! Good shit!!!
Nice tricks, thanks for the upload! Easy sub. I just got Reason Intro two weeks back and never done synthesis before. You make it look so effortless :D It's going to take me a looong time to save up the money for the full version. Meanwhile I'm learning to use what I have and decided to start with Subtractor.
My comment is that there is some sort of gain issue in Reason instruments. The newer synths are ok, like Europa. Kong seems to by default reduce the gain of samples by 20% or so. I think the propellerheads team was very concerned with clipping as there was no global compression before the SSL mixer. Thanks!
Yeah I find myself gaining samples up as well. You could just work from that volume (lower the synths and whatnot) but it can be a little bit of a pain when you add something later in the production process. Headroom isn't bad but it CAN be too quiet as well. Thanks for watching!
@@itsdjQuasar me too. I’ve got the Behringer Deepmind 12, which reminds me of the SubT. There’s a rumour that Behringer are gonna replicate the SubT. What a move that would be. 🎹✊💡
Bro i have a request. Can you do a quick video on how to replicate the ben bohmer Diva Synth sound on subtractor? I know it can be done i just don't know how and i know you know
I remembered after that you can flip the rack and route the Modulation Output "Mod Env" into the Modulation Input "Osc Pitch" via CV cable. That will modulate both. 🙃
Oh yeah! 🤔I've just completely turned off all vst in reason, since vst introduction back in r9.5 nothing but issues, especially since r12, I'm back on my r4 💩🤷🏿♂️🎹🎛🎚🎼
@@itsdjQuasar hp z600 , dual xeon 6 core at 3.07 ghz each! 96 gb ram. Check my icy dock videos on my hard drive setup! Windows 10 with r12! But feel the stop code issues was coming either from reason or my gpu, but 90% reason 11 suite was the issue, cause everything else works 100% on this 10 year old hp z, I'm even running a fw400 interface still, lol
@@itsdjQuasar the vst is the issue in reason! I've been a Cubase user since atari2600, I've seen everything we use today come to light yesterday! From Cubase 5 up to 9.5 vst was the issue for all crashes across most daws, this includes protools! RTAS was nothing more than a vst reformatted same as Rack Extensions! Google steinberg "plugin sentinel" reason desperately needs to integrate that protocol!
