Jay Z’s Reasonable Doubt wasn’t instantly crowned a rap classic when it was released 20 years ago on June, 25 1996- it took some time. But now, two decades later, Hov’s debut album is widely considered one of hip-hop’s greatest works.
Meet Biggs, who, along with Jay and Damon Dash started Roc-A-Fella Records, the independent label where Hov released Reasonable Doubt and set the foundation for a two decade long career which includes just as many rap accolades as it does business benchmarks.

That Illuminati BS is what ignorant people use as a scapegoat for not being able to understand the amount of work & the kind of work people put into their success.. I know this because I am also poor lol

Karim, true, I always hate it when feeble minded less successful people try to credit a man's hard struggle out of poverty to the devil and Illuminati, always making it seem like God 'took a break' from handing out blessings

@mikegillins4992
@mikegillins4992 8 лет назад
+Ace Dinero sometimes when albums get slept on its because of other great albums of that time...in 96 pac was so dominate at his peak with all eyes on me the first ever double cd in rap, and later 7 day theory, fugees had the score and nas it was written came out the month after RD and went platinum...so alot of times it depends on what is popping at that time!
@urbanflavorz
@urbanflavorz 8 лет назад
Exactly, I say it all the time... but they were all Jay-Z fans back then let them tell it.. Fact is in 1996 it was so many established and great rappers it was no room for Jay-Z. Tupac and Biggie were still alive, Nas, Fugees, Outkast was on their second album, Tribe working on their last album, Busta was on fire... 1996 was just sick

@Crates94
@Crates94 8 лет назад
I think 1995 was the peak of rap civilization, not to say that it was the best year, but this was the year when lyrical and beat styles were perfected. It was also the last year of "diversity" in rap. After that, high percentage of rappers slowly started using the same styles and theme, homogenizing the game for a while. Strangely enough, that same time was also the dawn of a new age in basketball, when we started to see become more modern and flashy in playing style. Think Shammgod, and Iverson who would go on to change the look and style of the whole NBA.
