Went to see them a couple of months ago. They were fantastic. I did not expect what I saw. That young brother Omar rips reasons up. I was sooo impressed. I got to talk to him after the show. What a sweet, humble young man. If you haven't seen this band yet, you are definitely missing out. They are a " must see"

Real musicians, real music played live, soulful tunes , covering one of the most complex songs from an amazing band, a good singer putting his best, this altogether can be just highly admired and respected. Just a few bands like this can be daring enough to cover EWF! And by the way, the backup singers are gorgeous, especially the tall red haired lady!

Hey not so fast. We isolated his vocal and ran the audio through the recently developed pitch capacitor calibrator (borrowed from my ex-girlfriends' cousin) to test your theory and it showed zero variation to the original vocalization mechanized audiation scale. That last note he sang also broke all the shot glasses at the bar in the club! Just to be transparent...lol!

He sings nice, but just like an imitation of Philip Bailey ... so I prefer to keep my EWF version. It's not like John Legend that when he sing a EWF tune makes it HIS OWN. Sorry !

Your point is valid, as a "cover" of a song can certainly be one's own interpretation with a totally different arrangement. That would typically be what you would see from an established artist such as John Legend. On the other hand, many covers are meant to come as close to the original as possible. That is what we were attempting to do here, i.e...honor the original artist - EWF and Mr. Philip Bailey by paying homage and respect to their incredible music! Thanks for listening and commenting.
