I bought a long track version last year, between myself at 240lbs an otter resort, auger, rods, bait, vex, buddy heater and a 20lb tank it works just fine. added studs this summer for the track for the boat ramps. Only complaint I have is the muffler loosened up and had to retighten the mounting studs for it. A little bit slow in powder but gets where it needs to.
A buddy of mine has one, we have used it a lot it is super awesome for smaller inland lakes and early ice I definitely think it has it pros especially the weight advantage for early ice. The only problem with my buddy’s is that if there is any huge amount of snow you can’t pull 2-3 jet sleds of gear daisy chained behind one and another through much snow. Like you said if it does get stuck it will walk right out. But my personal opinion of it is I would rather have a snowmobile with electric start and reverse not saying a sled is any better or worse or anything just personal opinion I run a 97 Yamaha 500 that has electric start and reverse fun sled to trail ride and perfect for ice fishing so kinda a win win in that department. Even if someone gave me one for free I wouldn’t see myself using it much once the ice was thick enough for a sled. I think they are pretty awesome though I see alot of them on the ice actually seen a whole group of people on Burt lake in Michigan they were buzzing right along.
