You notice that if dwight acted normally then jim wouldn’t do this stuff. Plus you notice dwight does turn into jim when charles is in charge.

he is definitely horrible in earlier seasons. just because the actor playing him is handsome and the camera making him look like the main character, people dont see him as a villian.

He is a narcissist, doesnt take accountability (every time he is in the wrong he tries to play it off like its no big deal), and he doesnt respect other people(daryl roommate scenes, finer things club etc). But i guess its fine cause he is "funny" and "charismatic". He is a great and fun character but lets not pretend he doesnt have huge flaws like the rest of the people

Like in conflict resolution I do like Jim but yeah, he definitely deserves reality checks now and then. Overall, Dwight is my favorite character, but again I don’t hate Jim but honestly, there are just times where I feel like he could be just as bad as Dwight…

Every watch I have disliked Jim (and Pam) even more. Never a fan ngl. All the side characters are better...

Ive met real life Dwights who pretend to take authority when theyre not supposed to. Him forcing a confession totally deserved to be locked in. The last one with Andy was cruel, though.

The Drew thing was the result of underlying mental instability and anger issues, altogether being aggravated to the point of a workplace mental breakdown all caused by.... Well, it could only be him, one and only Jim Bc he wanted to play a funny prank, which he never took accountability for 🤷‍♂️ I guess being kinda annoyed about being called Tuna for a few months was totally worth immense mental distress 😂

I don't think that was Jim's thought process. He seemed horrified with Andy's reaction as in "there's something definitely wrong with him, not me, I'm the reasonable one". He didn't stop his shenanigans.

I've re-watched the episode since. That DEFINITELY wasn't Jim's thought process. A scene later he's mocking Andy's yell "it's pretty freaking unfunny" with Pam. So they're making fun of Andy right after the incident. And then when Andy comes back from anger management Jim is awful to him from the start.

For a made up character, Andy didn’t grow at all and actually regressed. Not a lot was genuinely funny about his character just annoying.

I've always hated that.

Why was that so bad? I think both of them saw it coming. Why should Jim put happiness on wait when Karen already knows it is going to happen. She has already had that realization, and let's be honest. This was Jim's moment. Although it sucked for Karen, these things always do. They were in a doomed relationship since Jim never really had his heart in it, he just hoped he would. Although Karen was a bit unlucky, you can't blame Jim for trying, failing and admitting defeat. That is simply part of life.

Maybe I am an insensitive git, but from Jim's point of view, he has postponed this moment for years, and finally decided to do for what he feels is right for him. Of course he won't wait until the next day because of symbolic shame in the name of someone who isn't even there, and honestly, is quite irrelevant to his life going forward. I mean, yeah it was a failure, but that does NOT make him a bad person. He just did not want to be left out of something. He is just human. And yeah, lets be honest, the coi pond incident was barely him being a bad person. Michael almost hit and kicked him in his flailing falling. I am not sure I would have been able to save him if I had my hands in my pockets either.

To be fair Miner was a soulless incompetent rude corporate lackey. But yeah I enjoyed how he put Jim in his place too. Even tho it was unfair in context. But then again Jim is often unfair towards other people, and judgmental too.

Watch the episode it is from, that puts it in context. Andy was SUUPER annoying in that episode, and spent most of his time bothering Jim and sucking up to Michael. You can't blame Jim for wanting to get him back a bit. Then Andy overreacted, and suddenly Jim is totally in the wrong? I don't see it.

I disagree with this; the way you phrase the comment makes it seem like Jim had an elaborate ploy at rising through the social hierarchy of dunder mifflin that was hidden by a charismatic or socially valuable facade. Though it may seem like he’s disdainful to the “weird folk” like Dwight, it’s shown that much of the reason he pranks him is to occupy his time at his lifeless job. Which granted is a flawed trait but still goes against what you’re depicting in your comment. A good way to gauge the social motives that you describe in your comment would be to analyze his interactions and treatment of characters in the show he hardly interacts with or strangers. It’s very easy to forget that a lot of the characters in the office don’t behave like people do in real life which creates the illusion that Jim’s character is disdainful or calculated. His responses to his work acquaintance’s odd behavior are usually perfectly fine and acceptable and show no sign of inauthenticity or preconceived superiority on his part. Toby, for example, would be one of the characters whom, if we were going by the logic of your comment, Jim may treat poorly as Toby’s generally seen as one of the weaker characters in the show. But, though Toby has his weird moments, Jim treats him with respect and decency. Showing that even when given the opportunity to belittle the weaker link at a chance for social points, Jim doesn’t take it because that’s not who he is as a character.

@@babytin3573 great idea to harass and make an enemy of the HR rep -, - Michael never paid any consequences for his treatment of Toby because he was actually an effective manager for the most part in that he made the dough. So corporate are willing to turn a blind eye. Same with Meredith sleeping with the supplier - it made economic sense to allow this to continue so no action was taken against her. But when Jim became a manager he did start bullying Toby so you're remembering him the way you want to remember him. Jim mainly torments coworkers from his own department, so sales staff. His competition. And he chose Andy and Dwight, then Ryan but they had actual beef so that's understandable, then Clark, so the most susceptible and "defenseless". He doesn't harass Phyllis because in the beginning she was so sweet everyone in the office would protect her and he'd be discovered as the bully he is, and later on she'd rip him to shreds, same with Stanley, Karen was his girlfriend and admittedly he never treated her right but that was outside of work.

Jim is fantastic to his wife and kids, and usually pretty polite and thoughtful with his more normal coworkers. He can be smug and mischievous with his stupider and meaner coworkers, but it’s never unforgivable like Angela’s many infidelities, Dwight’s hostility to all, Phyllis’s manipulative ways, Kevin’s sexual harassment, Meredith’s bad parenting, Ryan’s embezzlement, Kelly’s pathological lies, Oscar’s affair, Andy’s neglect of Erin, and Michael’s Scott’s Tots shenanigans.

@@zerjiozerjio Jim isn't exactly polite, he's non-confrontational, which to me stems from lack of personal responsibility and/or courage. He has failed to have someone else's back many times. This isn't a positive quality.

@@zerjiozerjioDwight isn’t even that hostile, his behaviour is mostly brought out by Jim because Jim is aware he can bully him without consequence. Jim crosses people’s boundaries time and time again as long as he’s sure he can get away with it. This is directly tied to his lack of responsibility in the workplace and occasionally in his personal life/relationships. Mind you, I love Jim, but we shouldn’t act like any of these flawed characters are flawless just because we like them more than others.

hes a funny guy, but yeah i didnt like when they were married, or when jim was the co manager. he was probably the best around seasons 2-4

He wanted the job but he wasn't good at it. He got it because he weaseled his way in, buttering David Wallace and playing Michael's feelings, also he used his privilege as the cool everyman. It was the opposite of what Pam did, because she was already doing the job of an office administrator so it was only fair she finally got properly compensated.

I think it is because HE is the one that chooses and not you. At least the way I saw it, Pam and Jim are just a better match. So whether or not YOU like Karen better, I would say he made the right call for himself, which is good enough for me.

What would that look like? More clips put out of context to make Jim look bad? Honestly, some of these clips are so unfairly cut that I would love if someone made a version of it that was longer, so that maybe we could have some context, and actually give Jim a fair judgement on whether he is "the worst" or not.

All characters have their flaws.. and this is for every sitcom ever
