We moved from 33’ toy hauler pulled by an F350 to a 23’ Airstream International 23FBT pulled by an F150. Traveling with a very capable smaller rig is a joy. Sometimes less is more.

Yes!! That does sound wonderful honestly. Especially lugging this thing around the city or the truck through Dallas we feel that. Simpler the better. Are you guys good with organizing and keeping it minimal?

Totally agree. I have had large rigs before and now have a 2020 27FB International with the rear hatch and I am never going back to another brand. Until you stay in an Airstream for an extended period of time you can’t begin to appreciate how well everything works and how well everything is laid out.

I think one thing that Airstream has going for it, is the lack of tech savvy features, at least on many models. Anyone who has owned an RV for more than 20 minutes knows it’s not a question of if it will break but when it will break. More motors more problems. At least in my opinion.

We had never been in an airstream. Stopped by to take a look and was sold. We tried to look at other rv’s but kept going back to the airstream. I love the space without having to deal with a pullout. Yes the shell gives you pause….but decided we loved it enough to get one. ❤

We are weekend warriors and love our 2021 33' classic. I am 6' 2" and have no problems with the shower or toilet in that model. It was the bathroom that sold us on the 33' floorplan. As far as washing it, I have learned to treat it like a car and washing it correctly. Using the 2 bucket method, using a lube when drying and all sorts of other tips. I found myself watching Pan The Organizer to learn how to properly clean a clear coated surface.
@OutdoorsInn
@OutdoorsInn Год назад
Oh yes that bathroom is the most roomy!! We also really love the desk area that one has across from the couch on top of having a dedicated couch and dinette. Great floor plan we’re definitely tempted to look into that one. And we hadn’t heard of Pan The Organizer yet, thank you so much for the tip!

Another great video! We are almost 11 months fulltime in our 2011 27' FC. We just have the two of us and our Golden Retriever. I agree, we love the simplicity, although there are times I would like it to be bigger! Maybe the 30' or 33'. But, I love that it's paid for and basically has been trouble free. We are in Colorado at the moment with a beautiful view of the Rio Grande. Can't beat the view of the mountains.

Having just returned from our fourth trip with our FC 28' RBT, space is a precious commodity! We have learned to make it work already. In the kitchen, we get collapsible items. Stackable items are a big bonus! The one thing we want to change in our Airstream is the storage area under the beds. We are going to convert them from the drop down doors to drawers. That makes so much more sense and it will be easier to access the storage. We are considering moving up to a 30' FC Office model. Just considering though. We really do love our Airstream and plan to be in it for many years!

Agree! It really has been a good experience over a year very little challenge with quality. If we were still in our apartment, guaranteed there would be a few things that need sprucing up or fixing over that time so we’ve been super happy with it and the minor things that have come up have been no big deal. I've owned 8 RVs. Everything from a pop-up to a $1 million class C. But the Airstream is the best built of all. And everyone leaked at one time or the another. I have had zero leak issues on the Airstream. And your incorrect. You can get an automatic leveling on a Airstream. I have one on my cloud.

My first RV was a 25 ft Flying Cloud...I loved it!! If you're truly camping, you don't need a trailer/apartment....the only downside was the bed...it was a west/east queen...my husband, 6'4 slept on the outside...for me to get out, I had to sinch down...the shower had plenty of room..remember, this isn't a luxury multi million dollar RV.....We absolutely loved ours.. I sold it, and am now looking for a 27ft twin bed AS...couples, you don't always have to sleep next to each other every night...you get more room and storage with a twin bed layout

Awesome video! I would imagine that your truck makes up for the lack of storage as well. How are the tank sizes? We have a Mercedes Sprinter B+ motorhome and thought about an Airstream. I read somewhere that the black tank was less than 20 gallons on a 27 or 28 ft model, and the fresh was around 30. That doesn't seem like much and would be a show stopper for me. Is that the case with the tank sizes? If so, does that limit your camping to full hookups? thanks!!

Bathroom space......The 25'FC and 30'FC have the largest split bath in the line up. The twin bed arrangement is even better. I am 6' and 170 LBS and have no problems with the shower. The lack of power anything is the main attraction on the Flying Cloud. Less stuff to break, not work when you push the button, Etc. I do not need to run everything from my phone. K.I.S.S. Interesting thing about storage - I have lots! Choose the unit best suited for you. My unit has been well thought out. Exterior - room for all the camp site essentials AND, interior, everything has a place. There is no need to have morning coffee in the rain - my table is great (while the other three campers sleep in their own space). Sofa is wonderful for curling up with a book! Last camp trip consisted of 3-cats, 1-dog, 3-young adults and one very active Mom AND all their luggage. Happy trails!

Great camera angles, good editing, fine sound for the most part and the comment relating to the potential of getting scratches and dents in the shell is a frightening prospect that no one else has mentioned. This is almost like taking a fine and fragile family heirloom out on the roads on regular occasions. Were I fortunate enough to ever own one I would relegate it to the confines of a carefully cosseted existence in a glass showcase.

You two are so cute! I agree, the windows on an Airstream are the best! I am currently parked with a beautiful panoramic view of the river and listening to the water rushing over the rocks, so peaceful! We have had our Airstream for almost 4 years and absolutely LOVE it! We chose a 30 ft Flying Cloud, which has an L-shaped sofa in the front, very roomy and also turns into an almost King-size bed pretty easily (much more so than making the kitchen table into a full-size bed). We also have 4 outside compartments, besides the bumper compartment, which we actually can store quite a bit of stuff, however not a kayak! There is also quite a bit of inside storage and more leg room in the bathroom. I say all that because the extra footage in some of the different Airstream models will offer a lot more room and comfort, so check them out! :)

To listen to the two of you people, Can I suggest any of the other trailers out there that "have more room" and come with a tidal wave of issues starting with the plastic roofs and leaks and wood rot all over and go from there. "careful what you wish for" one other thing to note most other trailers cant stand the test of time, as does.

This is only a review of one model... not exactly a fair assessment. What Airstream has going for it and i am FT in a 33' Classic is that it holds resale value, holds up better than most other brands. no slides, which are problematic for other brands.. you get what you pay for and it doesn't seem that this couple did a great deal of research before the purchase. I researched for nearly two years from soup to nuts, this works for me. I'm off road off grid ready and i have an 8' bed on my truck w a cap for overflow storage and organization.

Listen guys, if you planned on going "Full Time" in an Airstream, then you made the wrong decision from the start. Airstream categorically states that the unit is NOT for Full timing in or being used as a substitute house. Most of your gripes here are due to the fact that you are using a travel trailer as a full time home rather than as a camping recreation vehicle . I hear the same complaints from dozens of notably young couples on RU-vid who are using travel trailers as their permanent home. These were never designed and built to be that. The fact that they dont have enough storage for full timing is because they were never intended for that purpose.

I purchased a new Airstream Rangeliner. It appears that the window in the sliding door was not installed properly. Neither Airstream or Ram consider it their problem to fix. Also, I have discovered that the generator is leaking gas. Apparently that will be up to Cummings to fix. All of this is very disapointing.

Back in 2015 I began researching RVs. I thought it would be a good option for my constant military transfers. I knew some people at the base who lived full-time in their 5th wheel. I thought I could downsize (1500 sq ft apartment) and make the 27' Airstream work. I drove up to the dealership, and was shown the requested unit. I walked in the door and.... WOW! I had no idea it would be so small. Reality. The Airstream was not small. It was what it is was. What had changed was my imagination of the inside. I hit the pause button. Good thing because I was transferred overseas. I returned in the summer of 2021. I noticed that many of the RV YT blogs had disappeared. I'm still on pause. I'm going to wait until a post-military life.

I just finished watching a lengthy video of all the problems encountered in and on a couples extremely expensive huge fifth wheel RV before and during their first trip. Man that thing must’ve been slapped together in record time using the cheapest building supplies available. Amazingly bad! It was nice to see a video on an RV focusing on design dislikes dislikes rather than it quickly falling to pieces. Airstreams are ridiculously priced but I’m figuring it out that that’s for a reason, especially if you’re going to be traveling lots and living in it full time. Unfortunately it looks like you’ve got to pay maximum $ for a dated design to have solid engineering. If airstream ever go cheap to drop prices then I think they will have nothing!
@OutdoorsInn

Yes, it can be tough to find the balance. We sometimes contemplate what it would be like moving to a fifth wheel - the space would be nice for sure, but it has a completely different feel and every rv is going to bring its own, unique set of challenges.

Ok we checked in the owners manual and it actually didn’t say. We think it’s the 36 range not the 48. When we fill up it says we have just under 600 miles but we typically get around 400-450 on a tank of diesel when towing.

The bathroom shown in this video is the smaller of 2 designs on several models - at least before 2024. The 25FB & 25RB are a good example of the 2 different sizes - I much prefer the 25RB as it's alot more user-friendly.

If Airstream would just make it 2 inches taller and figure out a little more outdoor storage, it would take it to the next level.

Been RVing for >30 years and haven’t come across anyone who bought their Airstream with the intent to entertain inside, so that’s interesting. What model and length is the Airstream you show? Don’t you have a lounge/sofa besides your dinette? I’ll give you that the dinette isn’t the best Airstream option but it’s sufficient.

We owned a 30 Classic for 6 years and had some issues. The ZipDee “Relax” automatic awning never worked reliably. It got to the point where we just never used the awning and it rode around as dead weight. The electrical wiring was an absolute rats nest. A quick look under the couch or fridge would make a a Bishop kick in a stained glass window. The dealer service network is absolutely awful, and now that Airstream has chosen to dance with the devil and allow Camping World to be dealers, it has become so much worse. Over all, we elected not to purchase another one.

We wanted to love Airstreams. I even ordered a Silver F350 thinking thats what we were going to get. Love the Classic and the Globetrotter. I am 6"2" and the shower and the not really a full Queen bed was a non-starter. The salesman said "since you are that tall, get the twin beds" Nope, I like to hug my sweetheart in the morning just before I get up. We went with with an Alliance 310RL Fifth Wheel. 35 feet long, Kind Bed, big shower, self leveling, big tanks, very stable to tow, tons of storage. @@OutdoorsInn Haha. Thanks. We don't mind making a little fun of ourselves. Its funny, every time I see an Airstream I think, man, that looks so nice, easier to tow, classic, Iconic, really cant tell just how old they are etc etc. Your video on looking a the 30Ft Globe Trotter was great....I love that model, although the first GT we walked into was the 27Ft at the Dallas show and we loved the style and sleekness of it. It felt like a Euro Rail Car. The 30Ft GT just came out when we got the truck. The 35 Foot 5ver is a good size for us....when I see the massive 42 or more foot 5Vers I think how difficult that must be.

Two supplementary more important reasons for not buying an Airstream: watertightness can not be expected from a trailer wich its manufacturing process requires the drilling of 4000 holes in its shell and the fact that they proudly have biodegradable floors.

So many other rvs have a beautiful exterior. Plus the price is absolutely outrageous for a normal middle class family that camps a handful of times each year. Ill pass

Obviously this young couple did not do any homework before buying their Airstream! Just because they made a big mistake buying a trailer too small for what they planned on doing is no reason to tell people "not to buy an Airstream"!! Not very informative!! They need a 40 foot 5th wheel, and that probably wouldn't make them happy.
