@3:44 I recommend we fill that valve up with assemblee lube, and be done with it. That part is a pain in the ass. Although I watched this, I failed to glue the 4th gear clutches together, and they kept falling apart when I maneuvering the next steps. Aargh. Why didn't I use it!!
I had the same problem putting the channel plate back on that you did, Seems like the Orings for the Pump shaft will not seat into the collar, When the next video starts you start off with.. Everythings torqued,,, how did you solve that dilemma? i am looking at using teflon tape to give me some manipulation ability and then just pull it out once i am in the collar,,,,
question to video poster mph- what would cause the input shaft stator splines to wear on one of these transmissions ?? I found one with the splines worn down about 1/2 way
Hey MPH, I’ve been following ur video to help me reassemble my trans, but it seems like the sprocket on the torque converter side won’t slide back in all the way, then obviously the channel plate won’t seat. Motor and trans are out of the engine bay but the motor is still attached. Wondering if I’ll have to separate the motor because now the splines won’t line back up with the torque converter??? And I’ll have to remove the torque converter to get that sprocket back in all the way?? Then finess the converter back on?
This is a common issue. You need to remove the sprocket by removing the snapping that holds it on. There is a plastic indexing piece that came off the sprocket. Put some trans assembly lube between that and the sprocket to basically glue them together. Then reassemble it. No need to separate the engine from the trans.
Oh man, I guess the lighting, or the fact that it's been a long day. I was looking for jet black objects, and I see them now, sorry about that. By the way these videos helped me do this in my gtp grand prix, so thank you for making them.
Thanks......your video will now get me $1000 a transmission because its not as hard as I once thought it was to do a transmission!!! Your video was a great help!
I can imagine.......But I'm 1000% percent sure that I have every part in it's location. All I did was replaced the broken band that controls DRIVE & 3rd which is the band all the way inside of the transmission
Nice, couple tips: make sure all the bands are on their servos, make sure all the clutches are clunked into place, air check all the clutch packs like the video. Take your time with the channel plate cover and make sure its seated all the way to the trans.
