I believe Reba McEntire is the greatest country female vocalist of all time. She has the hits and the awards to support the designation. But, most of all, she has the pipes, and she has always had them. Each of these women is talented in their own right, and each has had a wonderful career. But, even here, when Ms. McEntire begins to sing, there is something special and and unique about her sound, her style, her confidence and her delivery that elevates her above the rest. Perhaps someday another female artist will come along who will eclipse her, perhaps not. Her talent is so tremendous, she will difficult to top. BTW, I have long believed that George Jones is the greatest country male vocalist of all time, and the same is true of him. He will be a hard guy to top!
I love this performance so much. I just love country music. A lot of my friends said that country music is boring but i simply like the purity and the honesty in their voices. It's beautiful.
+BoltonsBestBabe I think Reba has a polished confidence that makes her stand out and she has such a distinctive voice that when u hear it you know it's her, so when u hear her u root for her. Saw her many times in the 90's on tour and she was always the true professional. I was never disappointed.
I agree 1000%...Reba had the floor. The other ladies should not be discounted and were great contributors too. But Reba has the vocal talent and range. Just watch how she needs to keep the microphone away from her mouth and the other needs to keeps it really close to make their voice hear. Miranda was a close second but Reba had this one. Great job for all these gals. :)
Martina is my favorite, and I love that she starts the song so strong! The Judds duet! YES! Miranda with that hard Texas accent! Love that twang! I love how Jennifer Nettles looks like she's having the time of her life!
To the people that keep rudely making statements about the Judds, lets remember a few things here. 1. Life is not about judging someone about their physical appearances. All of us are going to look old, ugly, and not very perfect when we reach a certain age. Yes, I would've preferred the Judds without the plastic surgery look, but there's nothing we can do about it now. 2. You should be looking at person from their heart and not on their physical appearances. The heart leaves a bigger imprint on a person than their physical attributes. They are talented ladies that have beautiful voices. If they didn't have that kind of talent, they wouldn't be standing on that stage.
am I the only one who thinks that Reba and Miranda are the only ones that really appreciate old songs like this that started the music that pays for ALL of their things
+Cassie Anderosn There is that possibility. You actually believe none of these women appreciate Patsy Kline or Tammy Wynette? Maybe you should listen to more interviews or do more reading. That's like saying Garth Brooks didn't appreciate the music of Hank Willi or Bob Wills.
+John Carpenter I'm just saying that I don't feel that their attitudes show it. With them up their acting like singing a song about selling a hog is some kind of funny joke. They act like they're trying to be above their raising.
+Cassie Anderosn I get the Reba reference, she was miles and miles better than any of the others but Miranda was weak on this song. Almost all the others were better so I don't understand why you lumped Miranda in is all. She isn't very good. She might be the latest flavor but compared to the others she kind of sucks.
Wow! Martina, Reba, and Wynonna! All this ladies are amazing but I would be terrified to get up and sing with any one (let alone all) of these legendary power houses!
I've actually seen Wynonna in concert a few times and she's actually an amazing singer (has won many awards). I saw the Judds a few years back and they were very good and shaped country music. Maybe this wasn't their night or something with so many people complaining about it.
She has a very good surgeon. Unfortunately, Naomi's isn't as talented. She and Dolly must have the same one. The Country Music Female versions of Michael Jackson.
Aj Scott Reba ages gracefully. She doesn't believe in making herself plastic. She said long ago she'll never have it and she said a few years back she hasn't had it and plans never to have it.
country music has been my medicine wherever am stressed or felling bored..this has been my life..av never listen to any other music before expect country.. and I love to be in this good home of country..
Reba came in on a key change, so it made it seem even better. They were playing that audience like a harp, lol. I love Reba tho! Def the best of the best!
To all those talking down about Carrie, maybe you should watch the previous part of this show. She sang How Great Thou Art with a standing ovation just prior to them singing Coal Miner's Daughter. She wore her voice out, and was unable to sing her part of this song. She was suppose to sing one of the portions, but one of the other girls picked it up.
My fave girl here is Martina McBride, but I find them all great! Miranda Lambert reminds me of Paris Hilton. Don't ask me why...Jennifer & Miranda are really funny chicks. Really a nice performance. Good musicians too, love the pedal steel
Carrie didn't sing because she strained her voice on her performance. She was the one who went to the producers and told them she couldn't sing during the tribute, so that's why they gave her parts in the song to Reba. And that's why Reba's parts are longer than everyone else's.
All u people getting upset about Carrie Underwood not singing, go and watch her How Great Thou Art performance! Im sad she didnt sing too but she sang flawlessly in her solo performance and that makes up for it! :)
I think they are all great but Martina is my all time favorite! Her voice goes "unmatched" by just about any singer I can think of, talk about a set of "Golden Pipes", and she is also very beautiful inside and out!
Not a Cole miners daughter but a Cole miners granddaughter and come from a long line of coleminers, and a hard working farther regardless, my grandfather was one of 8 this resonates deep
every body is singing as loud as they can straight into the microphone and reba is holding hers away. yet reba's voice is still standing out. love her voice so much. these women are my favorite country artist!
McEntire's voice was made to sing traditional country like this. I live her early music but very little of hers from 1988 on. Here, she's unbeatable and she should have sung the song by herself.
Actually the princess of country music. And she will be the first one to tell you that. The queen of country music is the one they are paying tribute to.... Mrs. Loretta Lynn.
James Dooling I hate the Judd’s. They trashed Taylor Swift back in the day for winning entertainer of the year. Those bitches brought their private life problems into their show business. They are hasbeens. Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are bigger than the Judd’s ever were.
well ladies you did good!! did that song very proud!! nobody could top Ms Loretta singing it but you ladies actually sounded like y'all rolled right out of a holler somewhere!! I'm a Ky gal myself and I was born in Pollard Holler!!! different life to put it mildly!!! lol
