It is clear that you do not understand the difference between sadness and clinical depression which is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain chemistry. Your advice and perspective might be applicable to the first but not so much to the later. Bipolar disorder is also caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain yet acts of loving kindness will not solve this issue. It requires the proper medication. The same is true for schizophrenia. And neither of those would constitute a "sin", but rather something that the individual struggles with, much like diabetes or kidney failure. It is clear that you have never struggled with clinical depression and for that you should give thanks for you blessings and good health. May you have such good fortune in all areas, and G-d forbid, if you were to ever have a problem, may you have understanding people at your side.

I think that maybe she is right even with "chemichal" depression... The truth is that Doctors dont know everything, and I have 2 friends that suffered depression, were treated with doctors and committed suicide anyways... So why you put so much credit on medicine??? I think we should listen alternatives...
