When I started watching the show, I never imagined that I would be shipping these two characters, but here we are. It feels a bit weird that there's a romance at the heart of this true-life murder story, but truth be told, it's a refreshing break from the rest of the narrative, and I'm loving it. Also, for those who are regulars here, I haven't forgotten about Marta and Fina; please bear with me as I tried to post it three times and all three were taken down. I haven't given up, and their story is coming very soon. I hope you enjoy today's video, and thank you so much for watching!
The thing that I particularly love of this show is how, despite all the pain and sadness of the case, they manage to insert the delicacy of their relationship to lessen the pain and the sadness of the case. No matter however many years pass, they were and will always be each other's strength and weakness, a constant presence even if they took separate paths for years, they are and will always be linked by an invisible thread. Plus the chemistry is INSANE
I can't stop rewatching the bar scene. Since the beginning. The conversations, the way they look at each other (especially Lily aka Cam), the dance, the kissing... everything. In love with them
Lisa Marie's daughter and Lily Gladstone?! Wow. Lily G. has SUCH a presence on screen...her demeanor is always so powerful, my God, nominated for an Oscar! This is such a well written and acted mini-series. Thank you hulu. I'm going to see all Riley Keough's work now. *And who knew Lily G. was gay in real life!*
Is she??? I thought she had a boyfriend & a kid. Rumours she identifies as queer but has never officially said it. She is so complete, while.and well rounded
I really wouldn’t mind if they actually got together in real life not gonna lie. When I first started watching I just KNEW they had tension just by the way they move around each other and the way Lily looks at Riley is just so❤❤❤❤
She's amazing. I absolutely loved her performance in 'Daisy Jones and the Six.' Plus, she appeared in one episode of Riverdale and starred in the queer movie 'Love Song.' Her talent is undeniable, and it's no surprise, considering she's the granddaughter of Elvis Presley.
For me, combining a sapphic romance with a dark mystery is right up my alley. I don't think I have seen that before. Nancy, as always you give us a wonderful video with insightful narrative. Thank you sooo much! 🥰🦄
Geri, this is also my favorite genre! I just hope they give us the story we deserve, as it's not always easy when dealing with shows based on true events. So far, only three episodes are out, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thank you so much for watching the video ❤❤
I'm completely and deeply in love with Lily Gladstone, she's effing amazing and beautiful and so talented. And I knew they had a thing from the moment Rebecca walked into the police station and looked at Cam... and even more when she put her hand on Cam's arm.
Me too! She has been cast in the upcoming remake of the classic Ang Lee comedy 'The Wedding Banquet' by Fire Island director. She will play a lesbian character in the film who is in a relationship with a woman. The plot involves the woman agreeing to marry a gay man for immigration and family-placating reasons. Her love interest in the film is the also beautiful Marie Tran. Also, I just read that the Lily film we've been waiting for so long, where she also plays a queer role, 'Fancy a Dance,' will be released this summer. So honestly, we gays are always winning!!
I agree, such great chemistry between the two! The whole cast is great, but their story feels so real and i think adding it for tv without taking away from reenas narrative/story is great..people don't stop living their own lives but how this intertwines as a fictional storyline works really well imo.
I thought about the part inviting her to dinner later was romantic but I don't know why Cam turned it down to make it suggestive of them hanging out and doing other things. Like, come on. Cam, she wants to have dinner with you just not that dinner. 🙄 I loved it and can't wait for the next 4th episode. I love the odd pairing that turned out to have loads of chemistry. Fuvk
Agreed, I also thought about that part a lot. But for sure, there's something behind. Even so, the way she said it... I cannot wait for episode 3 that is TODAY🎉
Cam wants to flip the script. Rebecca wants to cast their relationship in traditional romantic terms. Cam cuts to the chase, teasingly refusing dinner with an invitation to “hang out” after. Clearly she feels conflicted about how things ended 10 years ago. But she’s into Rebecca at a very visceral level, so much so that she questions whether it’s “right”. Rebecca’s response (reflected on her face in the make out scene) and in her simple acknowledgment that Cam’s feelings are ok ( without even specifying what feelings she’s referring to) are testaments to Rebecca’s sensitivity and real care for Cam, as well as ceding a bit of control to Cam despite Rebecca’s real need for connection. Rebecca bears the scars from her brother’s death openly, Cam is really the only one who she can speak with about the haunted feeling. But Cam is really investigating the murder of Reena Virk. Because of the case, theirs is a rather symbiotic relationship- quid pro quo, Rebecca is using Cam for access to police files and entry into the world of the teenage suspects to further her book, Cam is using Rebecca as a confidential informant of sorts- that kind of set up is kind of anti-romantic- but it seems realistic, given the way their lives have diverged. Also the ulterior motives are there for Cam as well as Rebecca- for Rebecca the murder case is a way to return home, to the scene of the other crime to resolve her feelings about her brother’s death, for Cam it is the rocket fuel she needs to make her stand out to the crime units in Vancouver. So they are swimming in opposite directions. The show is really good at developing the motivations of all the characters, ironically it is Cam who has first hand experience with the foster care system and racism and class conflict, but her status as a police officer makes her suspect. Rebecca crosses so many ethical lines, (by lying to get access to Jo, by manipulating the girls and Warren G. to get more information, by promising more than she can deliver to the girls and Warren.) Her justification is her role as a journalist, to find the truth. It’s just there is no singular truth in this tragedy. PS- I really like this show, as an Indian, and a lesbian who grew up in a white suburb in Ohio. I can relate to the rebellious nature of Reena, but also to the agony of her parents. I have an intimate understanding of the loneliness of Reena which forces her to try to be accepted by “the nasty girls”. I suppose it is the nuanced performances and the real chemistry between the players that’s got me hooked. ❤ Lily Gladstone and Riley Keogh!
I viewed that comment as a bit of a joke. Cause if you watch ep 5 you can see Rebecca calls Cam to say she has to cancel for dinner. Even Cam’s tone was light when she talked about Rebecca coming over later.
Riley Keough playing a queer woman!!! Yes please!!!!❤❤❤❤ She inherited incredible beauty from both sides of her family and she's a fantastic actress❤❤❤
so hot. great chemistry. such an intense scene and such a heartbreaking series. Lily Gladstone is especially impressive. they both are. in fact the entire cast.
bro i started the video, put it fullscreen, all cool, then i hear out of nowhere "HAI BEAUTIFUL SAPHICS", now i dont wanna watch it, im sure its great though
Have been thinking about for awhile and I am happy to watch this show. I really know nothing about the background story line other than it is based on a true event so I am supposing that those two women are reflecting folks from that area of the country. I don’t want to be disrespectful but it is interesting that both of these women are not size 0 . That seems to be the the trend with lead women characters in films regardless of straight or gay but the reality is we come in all sizes and shape (myself Included) and I am not denying they are wonderful to view; but how great to see more realistic bodies Lily Gladstone is lovely and sexy and am thankful for casting her in this story. They both connect in a terrific way.
They have chemistry but I def do not want them to be together. I wanted want cam to have to deal with Rebecca who is nothing more than an adult brat so far from the epis I’ve seen. She’s childish. That ain’t sexy.
