During this shoot I remember having a little nap while the crew were setting up and when I woke up surrounded by storm troopers and lights I can honestly say I almost choked I was so happy. I'll never forget that moment! Thanks for getting me involved in such an awesome project and congratulations on doing such an epic job! Love it :)

Always loved you guys and your software, been following since you started basically. Seeing that year after year and version after version you STILL keep providing great free tutorial, a free version of your software and even a short movie made with the free version(without forcing new editors into thinking only Pro is capable) is simply undescriveable. This is exactly what the industry, and the world, needs: people showing others that it REALLY isn't the tool but the way you teach yourself to use it that matters :) Who needs Ad...nevermind ;)

uummm....the story is, (Spoiler alert) : A couple of rebels sneak into an enemy base with the intent of destroying it. They plant several charges. They are about to make their escape when they get discovered. They make a run for it only to be caught .....but he's got this detonator.... hhmmmm. I thought it was sweet and simple.....and the cliff-hanger was great!

Thinking I'm gonna have to pick this up. Using Premiere, AE, and DaVinci Resolve is good and all, but having everything rolled into one package is really nice.

What I love about Hitfilm is you can use the free version for pretty much anything...and you can add more functionality by purchasing only the add-ons that you need. Great short BTW

LOL Man this was sooo.. ahh. Anyway, I really LOVED the locations, and the soundfx. In fact, it was a such subtle tribute to Star Wars that I really didn't even notice the effects. "Subtle" meaning that others really tend to overblow it with CGI and stuff. Thanks for this. The Stormtroopers were funny. They reminded me of those Target Stormtroopers* that walked like robot zombies. LOL * an American Target Stores commercial that cross sold one of the Star Wars Prequals at the time. the Stormtroopers were searching for two little kids, a boy and a girl, dressed like Rebels.

Best star wars fan film ever. The color grading, vfx, everything is perfect. All of the other fan films are set in the woods and coupled with the awful color grading, i cant watch more than 10 secs. :(

Nice job, guys! I only have one big thing about it: the stormtroopers at the beginning. They're all in a very inhuman pose, and aren't armed or anything. Besides that, they don't move at all. I understand It would be way too tedious to animate each one individually, but you just very easily create three or four idle animations for some template stormtroopers, the duplicate them and place them randomly within the battalion. But otherwise, I things were pretty good, and I'm loving the software. Keet it going!

We will have some HitFilm Pro tutorials coming in the future, for various aspects, but even a lot of those could be done in express by using a slightly different workflow. For example, we animated the AT-AT in HitFilm Pro 2017, but if you rendered the AT-AT animation in advance, you could import it into Express as a video file and composite it into the shot.

For a short film used essentially to promote Hitfilm (An editing and compositing tool), that was very good. High production quality, nice cameras, and great visual effects. My one problem in this realm of thought is that the blaster effects looked cheap because the people firing the guns gave them no weight. The lasers didn't feel powerful because "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction". To make a blaster look powerful, it helps to make the recoil powerful. For a short film, this was not very good at all. There was nothing in the realm of emotional journey, and that's what a film should be about. The acting wasn't great, but I'm not saying the actors are bad, as I know nothing about them, but they didn't have much to work with. The writing was cheap and focused only on spectacle, but I guess I should have expected that from a promotion video for Hitfilm. As that, I'd rate it a 9.2/10, but as a short film, a 3/10.

Well. That took a lot of time and effort! Looks great, sounds good, awesome little vignette to take advantage of Rogue One while showing off Hitfilm Express. (Although that 1440p output and that AT-AT tell me there was some use of PRO as well) I'm actually feeling just a touch stupid right now. I've known you were working on this for months, and I have a perfectly good "Lucasfilm-style Hitfilm Logo" created in Hitfilm that would have worked nicely. Should have just sent someone the project file.

Wow guys this is fantastic!! This inspires me even more to make something awesome, i have a quick question though if i may from 1:17 to 1:34 the small lens flares look a bit off? It could be me being picky but i feel like the shape and possibly the length looks odd? bang on 1:33 they were too noticeable? sorry i don't mean to offend anyone. For real though HitFilm is class!!
