I'm blown away. The perfect dinosaur figure. I can't find a single gripe. I have the mountain variant incoming. Also, I'm glad you're so enthusiastic about Peter Jackson's King Kong!!! So many people I've talked to don't like it. I treasure that movie! Definitely one of my top 10 films of all time.
Clever how they call it a Tyrannosaurus to avoid any copyright association. To anyone who didn't get to buy the more expensive models back then(I believe those were made by Sideshow Collectibles), this is a good deal.
They actually almost got in trouble when Weta Workshop messaged them about it, but the screenshot they posted of it got deleted... though now I forget if it was a joke or not
Rebor has done it again. My gosh these are gorgeous. 7:00 Don't be silly JC. You never bore us. I'd gladly watch you do another look at this beautiful figure or any figure for that matter.
Good to see a size comparison of the box with the Rebor King T. rex box and then later in the video, a review a size comparison of the actual replicas.
Mine arrived today and I'd like to say I'm super satisfied! The figure is solid and has some weight to it, which is what I like. I prefer a solid figure over a hollow one. I LOVE the bendy tail! I got the ''Mountain'' variant but am very tempted to get the Jungle one now. Darn it! EverythingDinosaur has a special bundle going on where you can get both of the variants! I got mine before the bundle. Oh well. I might get it someday though. So happy to finally have a statue of the awesome V-Rex from King Kong!
Love it! Was always looking to get a derailed V-Rex figure, but always wanted a Kong to go with it. Now that we have a detailed V-Rex, I might have to consider an S.H. Monsterarts King Kong
An absolute win by rebor! I just picked up the mountain version and I can say I'm beyond impressed by it! Quick thing I'd like to point out, the mouth can actually open a bit wider. The is another click you can push the mouth to and it looks a lot better. Like always great review and Im glad you showcased both variants. I'm tempted to pick up the jungle version as well but I also want to get some Rebor raptors.
@@dynestis2875 no, I have this figure and I tried it. You definitely don't want to do it too much though as it can loosen the mouth, but it definitely opens further than he shows.
This has to be one of the best models based on a movie monster I've ever got, and it's *unofficial* haha. You have to wonder how they're managing this level of detail, I wonder if there's 3D printing involved, like they made a digital model that's milled out. The scales are so fine and intricate!
It's extremely close to the vastatosaurus rex in almost every way it just needs one more claw on each hand. And yes I know it's a tyrannosaurus rex. Maybe this can be the evolutionary transition from t-rex to V-rex. Great video though.
Very nice not a bad price either sadly I have absolutely no idea what I would do with one and I would certainly be getting strange looks from some of my friends if I owned one lol.
Except for the colors, is there any difference between the 2 variants? At first glance, with the mouth open the mountain variant reminds me of the V-rex that looks 'older' in the movies, whereas the jungle variant with its mouth closed looks like the younger of the 2 to me. Is that intentional or are they both just copies of the same pose?
Awesome review JC as always, and these are such beautiful figures from Rebor! You had mentioned when closing the jaw that there was a “clack” noise when you shut it. Reminds me of how the V-Rex in the movie made a clack-like sound when its jaws snapped shut! I wonder if that was purposely done by Rebor, or an incredible coincidence!
If you wanted a reason as to why the teeth would be differently colored in real life the mountain version would have lighter teeth because there's less food in the mountains. So its teeth would be less dirty compared to something that lives in the jungle. As you probably know there's plenty of food in the jungle... that means plenty of grime get in the teeth.
Im torn between the 2 variants! Which one should i get? I prefer the teeth and overall colouring of the mountain version but i prefer the mouth and tongue colour of the jungle version
You contradict yourself. You just said its very detailed (which it is, its like its straight from the movie) and then you complain about the price... its 40 dollars ffs... video games costs more.
De pequeño tenía un juguete de V-Rex que se tragaba a los protagonistas junto con un juguete de Kong, los amaba, y ver esto me trae tantos recuerdos...
I was all cocked back ready to type a 'technically they are Vastatosaurus Rex in King Kong' but then I saw it only has 2 fingers so I guess the box isn't wrong.
That seems pretty accurate compared to the Papo T. rex size wise, due to the fact that the V-Rex is actually larger and bulkier that a normal Tyrannosaurus! So maybe I’ll pick this figure up for my dinosaur series, which I recommend you should watch! It’s really good! m.ru-vid.com/group/PLJjzZML2txoap1y7CQbN1xGMLkuvgfcD7
