Which paints should I buy to get started reborning? What do the Genesis Heat Set Paints look like and what do I use them for?
These are a few of my most frequently asked questions from beginners and now we're finally doing a detailed review of Genesis Heat-Set Paints: the must have, nice to have and better off without. The quick guide is still under development, but I will drop a link here when it is done. :)
At the same time, I still want to hear from you! So please respond to the poll questions in this video so I can better understand what kind of paints you are using to make my courses and tutorials as relevant as possible. I only get five options per question, so please pick the one that best represents you. If all the options are way off base, feel free to drop your response in the comments.

I have stopped using premixed paints primarily. I've been mixing my own colours and it seems to be working better. I might occasionally start with a premix but add other colours to it. Kim, You always explain things so well and anyone can understand. Thank you for that. Cheers!

Thank you, Donna! I've also reduced my use of premixed paints over the years, but it was a great place for me to start and learn what kind of colors I like and how I'd tweak my own mixtures going forward. :)

i use warm blush to warm my skin tones as i mix them. i have most of the pre mix colors from bountiful baby but i add other colors in to get the look i want for skin and i love using the nail tip for teeth aswell, and most of the time i use the eye lash purple to do creases insted of the crease and wrinkle mix on the heads and limbs. i love watching your videos and i have picked up a lot of tips from you that have helped me so much. thank you for making videos!

I tend use the eyelid purple for a lot I usually mix it in with the other colours I also really like it for mottling but yes aswell I don’t really use it at all for the eyelids as it is very hit and miss once it is on the colour can take a few minutes to show up fully and then once it is baked i find it either settles down the purple or goes really purple, I learn so much from your tutorials thank you 😊 do you have a tutorial on how to do extra details like baby scratches? I can’t seem to find any tutorials I haven’t even found / come across one tutorial on doing baby scratches for some reason hoping you can help, keep up the great work it’s beautiful and helpful thank you again ⭐️

The baby skin is actually a nice completion color but I use the peachy keen mix with the satin varnish to give a nice glow while I'm sealing and doing the final skin texturing layers 😊 I'm looking forward to the primary colors video as I have the set but haven't cracked open one jar lol

Hello Kim, the factory is no longer making genesis paints, every supplier is dwindling in their preserves and most popular colors are already out of stock on almost every reborn website, etsy and ebay, those who still have some left are charging ridiculous tripple and quadruple prices. Do you know if there is anyone who has found an equivalent match? Thank you. Grace

Hiiii in your opinion how many babies can be made from those small jars???

LOTS. LOL Complexion colors get used up fastest because you're covering the whole doll with it. I probably made at least 20 dolls before I ran out of Flesh 08. I do run out of the varnishes and mediums because I apply them so thick, but the colors are used in such thin layers that a tiny jar goes a looong way. Most of the paints I use today are the same jars I got in my starter kit years ago. :)

Premix paints are paints created specifically for reborning. For example, Warm Blush is a premix paint that Bountiful Baby created out of Genesis Colors specifically for blushing reborn dolls. It is convenient because you can start painting without having to mix your own paint. By contrast, Pyrolle Red 02, for example, is a Genesis Color that can be used as an ingredient in creating your own blushing color. The challenge with a premix is that you don't know what's in it, so it can be difficult to use to make your own mixes and colors. So if I'm trying to make something really custom, I'll start with a Genesis pigment rather than a premix. That was a good question. If you don't mind, I'll also post that on my blog :)
