I don't want to sound like a jerk, but you must find the correct doctor. I agree that it's so much more difficult now, but for chronic pain sufferers, you must find the right doctor. I don't take opioids any longer, but I do find that a combination of two Advil and two Tylenol really knocks down my pain - that may not help you, but it has been pretty effective for me.

You can still get them proscribed but you have to see and be managed by a pain management group.

@@denisesalles7248doctors have actually found that taking 2 Advil and 2 Tylenol is like taking a narcotic for pain and it’s true in my experience with my which I suffer from severe body pain! All over body pain! Neck,shoulders, back, elbows, hips, wrists, knees, ankles! It’s literally head to toe! Of course some days the pain is worse and more unbearable in my back whereas others it’s worse for my knees! And so on. So I take Advil and Tylenol on a daily basis. I was prescribed opioids for a couple years and thankfully something occurred to where I could no longer get the medication and had no choice but to go off of it or God knows where I’d be today! I’m 38 years old and shouldn’t feel the pain I do and my only diagnosis thus far is Fibromyalgia (which is bad enough in and of itself) some people may mot think so but it’s an awful disease! My mother suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and that my fear! Or even worse! So I have a doctors appointment on December 4th and I’m praying for a diagnosis and result to my issues. But refuse opioids! Will never go down that rabbit hole again!

@@purearea5142 if you can afford it and are believed about the pain. Then you’re treated like a criminal. I have experienced this broken system. Fired for looking for alternatives to the options offered. I found healthier alternatives that are not paid for or supported by dr’s trained by the pharmaceutical industry ie med schools. Because they don’t get kick backs. Look into prolbzome injections it’s liquid oxygen doesn’t have amy of the side effects but works wonders. NOT covered by insurance who decides what treatments are appropriate instead you’re given steroids which have so many side effects and destroy tissue and then you’re going to need pt and surgery to replace joints that fail. Its all about the money. My mom and mom inlaw suffered from all these injustices and died from the consequences. I have spent 6 hours suffering in agony from stomach pain for which my husband had to beg them to help me. 0 drugs in my ua they took upon arrival. My friend had an accident and broke her finger so badly they did surgery the next morning she was given NOTHING for pain even though it was clearly fd up. They tell you to take Tylenol (liver killer -dementia later) or ibuprofen which eats your stomach or suffer. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🫤👺💩 not as clear cut as go to pain management.

Correct, administered by a physician opioids can have great value for people that are suffering severe chronic pain.

Yes, I needed the pain medications after the fall. I think what would have been more helpful after they were prescribed, was a provider asking about cravings, over medicating, home-life, stress, and history of addiction in my family. We need a systemic change in our entire healthcare system where we’re treating the entire person and not just prescribing medications for symptoms or elevated lab/test results. Perhaps with screening, my addiction, and many others whose began with prescription meds, could have been avoided.

I’m sure you didn’t mean for your comment to sound as if my recovery journey has been all bunny rabbits and rainbows. I know many people have a hard time because I have been there, too. Please don’t minimize my story or success because I went to rehab one time. It’s time we reevaluate what treatment does and doesn’t work for every person in need. Let’s look at who is really benefiting from 28 day (or more) treatment programs and what level of success is found in those walls. Hint: the outcomes are pretty abysmal. Not everyone with a substance use disorder needs rehab, not everyone with a substance use disorder has a set back. Let’s change the narrative and build upon other recovery pathways where people can find recovery and positive outcomes without a 28 inpatient stay.

You need to rewatch the video again. I said in the video that I was the one who took the pills. But, physicians are part of the problem when they don’t offer solutions to prevent addiction or they know there’s a problem and don’t address it. I took responsibility for what I did to myself and to others. I’m in the prevention and addiction field to pay it forward and help others make change. Part of the reason I do that work is to continue to take responsibility for the harms I’ve caused to society. No where in this video was I blaming someone or a group of professionals. Also, I don’t identify with the word addict. It’s stigmatizing and labels me in a shameful manner. I have a substance use disorder and was a person who used drugs, please address me as such.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. What we need is systemic change in the healthcare system so that people are never treated the way you were. Stigma, lack of education, and lack of accountable have gotten us to where we are today and it must stop. People are going to the streets to treat pain and in the age of fentanyl they aren’t surviving. I sincerely hope you are in a better place now and have found someone that can help you. V
