Instead of welding that diff, assuming this is to be a street truck, I would put a Truetrac limited slip in there. That's what I did to my '92 and it's awesome.
Austin, trust me, watching your videos is one of the best moments of the day. I would like to congratulate you on your perfect job and edition of your videos. I have a channel where I restore old toys (Nylint trucks from the 60s) and I know how complicated is to filming without forgetting the key moments which make all difference. One more time, thanks for sharing, your job is awesome!
Great job Austin, others may take notice. This is a great example of concise tutorial within a great shop environment without a lot of gibber jabber. Very thorough and above and beyond normal rebuild. I was just looking for a good representation of disassembly/assembly order for this subject of rear axle teardown and reassembly. As I am in process now on stepsons' 87 toyota pickup rear axle bearing and seals replacement. I am 40 year Aircraft tech, car and motorcycle enthusiast, mechanic.
So glad I found this chanel recently. Started with the transformation vids of the green and red truck and was amazed by his skill, and now i've watched every episode of this new build. Love chanels like this where you can actually learn, and be inspired to take on projects on our own trucks.
*Setiap videomu bisa dinikmati penonton, karena proses yang rinci dari pembongkaran, seni dalam pengelasan, pengecatan warna, sampai perakitan sangat memuaskan.* 👌 *PERTAHANKAN !*
Again and as always. Another great video and enough to keep me / us looking forward to seeing what's next. I know you already see a finished product. The world is also eager to see a finished product.... that's what makes your videos good.
Hell yeah man, i’ve learned how to rebuild an axle from you with the green pickup! And it doesn’t stop me from watching any of your videos! Thanks for the great content! 🔥
I put bearing kits in and replace that crush collar before and that parts not bad. It’s intended for new bearings but I believe I’ve heard that some guys say you should replace that crush collar every time you retorque that nut. That’s what the crush collar does of courses is sets the on the preload on the bearings. I’m not sure though because for example on wheel-bearings you don’t torque an old bearing anywhere near as tight is you torque a new bearing. Once you’ve overtightened an old crush collar however I’m pretty sure it needs replaced as the way you describe the this one with your bearings tightening up.
I know Australia is a long way from you but if you check hand brake cable kit for your hilux it should be available via Australia! Love the builds you do. Cheers from Sydney Australia MATE 🇭🇲👍🦘🐨👍🇭🇲🇺🇸🇺🇸
So I need to reseal my rear axle on my 89 because its leaking gear oil into the drums, is there any way to replace the seal without using a hydraulic press to remove the axle shafts? I've got the seals for both the axle and the backing plate, I would like to replace both at the same time.
We pretty much have the exact same tacoma setup. I need to jack mine up for long term storage, any recommendations for jack stands that will fit the lifted setup?
Put an electric switched hydraulic brake line lock on it for an emergency brake, push the pedal in & push the button it's locked, push the pedal to disengage its so simple
Cost like $45 & they work even if it gets ran into it won't move ,I have disc brakes on the back of my 82 4×4 & no emergency brake cables to worry about, & it would make a great video too!
Man I would kill for a shop like yours it’s so awesome with all your machines and tools I am so envious. Having the space and tools makes working on trucks so much fun. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing 😎
I went to pickapart self serve wreaker and scored a LSD centre for my 89 Hilux for ...............$50 it was diff sale day! Get a LSD you can show us how to rebuild them..
I love these model yotas. Had an 85 with a 22r in it and we use to pull a wrestling ring built out of 2 inch square tubing that was about a few thousand pounds and it pulled it like it wasn't even there .
nice content, at 02:16 when remove there is a thin rubber O rings (Like rubber band) in my hilux and in your video i dont see any. So is it ok if i install it without it
SEM makes good products. 👍 Really happy w their satin black chip guard on my new custom grille & bumper. It really layed down & hardened over about a week too. I think I’m going to try their clear chip guard on my rockers, when I get my new paint done.
Hey Austin. Absolutely lovin’ your videos mate. It’s a pleasure to watch. Giving me a lot of inspiration and ideas for my 2000 ln167r Hilux here in Aus 👍 keep it up!
Check Toyota yard in Rancho Cordova Sacramento CA. For your break cable they might have it or LCE In Arizona. BTW AWESOME BUILD 👌 NICE SHOP I wish I was your neighbor almost done with my 87 pickup just dropping the motor in.
Better keep an eye on those rear brake temps. There is a reason drums aren't factory powder coated. The metal has to breathe for it to dissipate brake heat.
