Chris, I’m 56 , ran a marine towing and salvage business for 30 years. I always felt I was a very good operator, my friend , watching you over the last year, as people have said to me about my water operations, you have skillz !!!! Truely a pleasure watching a skilled craftsmen!!!
I see how much you love Volvo equipment. My dad sold heavy equipment for 40 years, they started with International harvester, then John Deere, and last Komatsu and many others. He got to travel all over the country visiting manf. Plants. He loved Kamatsu. I was blessed and got to go to the Yukon with my brother and best friend last summer and work on a gold mine for 3 weeks. Had an amazing time they Had a lot of Volvo equipment I ran the EC750E excavator, Volvo rock truck, and cat D10 dozer, they were monsters. Experience of a life time, I'm going to go next summer to. Love your videos keep up the good work
Hey Chris, it's to bad there isn't a lot more operator's like you that would've never built a dam with sandy soil and other crappy soil. good Work as always! Brian
Been watching you for about 10 years now love your work ethics and trying to do the best that you can for people that have hired others that don't give a crap. Great videos keep them coming
Are you joking? These guys are half-assing these jobs. That fill should be moisture conditioned(dried) and/or treated and compacted properly. That frigging small dozer isn't worth a damn other than spreading dirt around - no pun intended. Barely getting 80-85% RC is my guess, when it should be 90-95% RC...of course, no geotech, no inspection, no testing = half-assed.
That is still easy digging compared to the part of Maine I'm at. You would be pulling out VW bug size boulders out here. I would give anything to see green right now, we still have two to three feet of packed snow and two and a half feet of frost in the ground but we could hit 60 degrees on Saturday. Keep up the great work!
This is why your are in great demand. Anyone can build a dam but it takes experience and knowledge to do it correctly. This should be required viewing for all engineer apprentice programs.
I find I watch your hands working the controls sorta like a concert pianist. I always wanted to be a cat skinner like my grandpa but wound up being an electrician ,now I’m too old to start over, however I still like watching a smooth operator. People around here used to tell me that my grandpa could make a dozer do anything but talk.
This comment instantly made me think about “sometimes you just gotta get mad at it” one of the funniest videos of taking a stubborn tree down, I don’t think Chris would agree tho, sounded really pissed off but it would be funny looking back
Thanks for the great video mate ,good job tim only weighs about 98 pounds and didn't break the crust on that mud ,imagine the paperwork you'd have to fill out .That rock truck has a great sound ,you should see if jpaydirt could hook you up with a switchblade turbo ,that would make it sing ,cheers from down under.
Damn that weather looks nice! Spring started here (SW Wisconsin) -- then we got hit with a blizzard, then ice storm, then high winds with sleet. Can't wait to get out and get things done myself!
I have been binge watching your videos thru this pandemic. I think i'm ready to repair a pond dam. I just need to buy all the equipment, learn how to operate it and find someone who needs a pond repaired. So, who needs a pond repaired :)
When Tim was jumping on that mud it reminded me of my 4th ex wife. 6 months into our marriage she said she lost some weight. We went across a bridge and the expansion joint made her stomach wobble like that. I asked her what all that was if she lost weight. That core looked Sandy too but what do I know once it mixes in and gets wet it may be more clay than I think:)
Nice job. Do you ever install rubber roofing vertically inside the dam to help stop leakage? I saw some material like that installed in a huge dam up north. Thanks for the great video's.
Thanks for all your videos. To be honest my favourite videos when you burn pile. I love it. Please make a video when you burn all of this stuff. )))))))))))
You need some Alabama red clay for making the dam my grandparents said that you could build a house out of stuff it holds so well, just my old family advice!
ive been to the northeast they have HUGE rocks, and apparently there above the ground and below the ground. they have so many rocks there that digging would a pisser offer but its so beautiful
Vt has the largest deep-hole granite quarry in the world called the "Rock of Ages" Over 600 ft deep and New Hampshire's nickname is the Granite State. We got Rock if ya need it. Some of the nicest places to go swimming up here, is in an old quarry, crystal clear water but cold !
Speaking of Big Betsy...Have the cows arrived yet and when can we see them? The tree didnt look that big until it hit the ground! Thanks for videos this week and have a great weekend!
Maybe we should have Jason haul a load of white oak down to you from my yard being he's 30 minutes away from me and he's always out driving around ! Lol
How wide does a typical core trench need to be.....assuming about 5 to 6' is deep enough? I have the exact project to do as this on my own property....just with smaller equipment.
There is a very easy way to keep trees off the dam even if you can't mow it by simply waiting till the dry time of the year and create a few fire breaks around the sides then start a fire at the bottom and let it burn the trees and dry grass on the dam. Repeat every 3 or so years and you will have healthy grasses and no trees with an hour or so of work every 3 years.
We had a Bradford Pear 🍐 tree 🌳 at the house 🏡 we had in Cary When we lived there 17 years ago now but we got it at a Nursery, it grew Quick but the branches break off easy in the Ice Storms 🥶❄️☃️ Never 12:28 Seen a Wild one though 🤔🤷🏻♂️ I will take 8 big Scoops of nice Red Clay please 28:48 On this Beautiful early April North Carolina country day... Oh and make that in Less than Two minutes if you will... THANKS ✅😎
