You really should put a book together mate, it’s completely fascinating to hear what and how much you know on two stroke engines and especially how to get the best out of them.
Perfect timing. Have tried two freshly kitted Tilly carbs on a 272 I just built and flooding out like all hell. I will try this. Thanks as always for sharing your knowledge!
I learn something every time I watch your videos. You are a world of knowledge when it comes to chainsaws thank you so much for taking time to make these videos.
Mr walker I have a solo model 647 chainsaw - l am looking for a tillotson hu63a carbi or equivalent .. unable to make it run / idle erratic . Just to give you the history of the chainsaw I’ve had it for 20 years and it’s been very very good to me. I’ve done a little bit of work to it. It has great compression. There’s no air leaks in the actual motor itself. It’s only the carburettor that I’m having trouble with. I’ve replaced the new kit but it seems like petrol is coming back into the air filter for some reason, if you could help greatly appreciate it thank you .. in Australia. We do not have a solo any more. Thanking you, Michael.
Thanks Don. I am putting a new carb kit in my Echo 701SVL (1978). Your showing me how to test for leaky metering valve will help so much. The saw had trouble with starting. I had to take off the air cleaner and prime put a thimble full of gas in the carb. Haven't used it in several years and decided to put it back in service. Thanks again. You made my testing of the carb so easy. PS if you have any video on where to look for obsolete parts for these old saws it would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Donny, you lost a bunch of weight brother 👍. All that walking with Fozzy dog is paying off. Keep it going man, all goals are reached with consistency.. SLANT'E
Great to meet you, Donny. I had heard of you from Buckin and Tinman. Thanks to Buckin I got an old Mac 200 and for trying to make milling saws, I am in the process of rebuilding 2 OLD STIHL 051 and 075 saws. I will possibly be acquiring a 2nd 075 that I tested and saw running. However it would not idle and was a bit tough to start. I suspect a few things and yet need to verify. I am hoping it is as simple as a carb adjustment/ servicing, a good plug and maybe new fuel and fuel line checks. What I hope not to find are ignition problems, or saw case leaks, piston and cylinder damage etc.
I LOVE DONNY WALKER SAWS BUT I SWEAR THOSE GLASSES MAKES HIM LOOK LIKE THEY GET ANGRY GUY FROM THAT MOVIE DODGEBALL NO DISRESPECT INTENTED YOUR A LEGEND
Great video friend! I've never tried the toothpaste on a q-tip trick, but I'll be giving it a try. Thank you for talking your time to make this very educational video! You just got a new subscriber and thumbs up. 👍 Have a Merry Christmas!!
Donny: I’ve got an old Husky 380CD which normally runs like a top. She won’t start now. I wanted to richen up the main idle on the Tilly HS-122A carburetor. Can you refresh my memory: which way do I turn screw the main idle in to introduce more mixture: clockwise or counter?
I have a brand new walbro WJ-76 with the big 76mm jet for a Stihl 066 that won't pass 11,000 rmp & the H screw bottoms out, could the metering level be the problem? 🤔
I Just bought my Grandmothers house and found an old Husky CD285 but some guys on a facebook page think it can possibly be the 2100 with a 285 pull cord cover because it has the manual oiler, just wondering what your thoughts are on this saw, same brand carb. i think it is a cool saw but needs some work to get it back to life, and how would i be able to tell if it is a 285 or a 2100 it also seems to have good compression and i went and stripped the last bolt on the muffler and gotta figure that out to see any numbers lol
HELLO I have an older 390xpg runs and dies... cleand carb and installed kit... adj carb per your tips...thanks... but eng starts on choke...rough idle...turned up idle little bit...THEN ENGINE RACES... but it is only a couple times... removed and checked intake boot...replaced....NO CHANGE Pulled flywheel and clutch/oiler to inspect crank seal...no visual leakage....but I should preasure test... pulled exhaust to check piston for scoring...tiny bit...but not serious... Hi, Donny, I can’t locate the posting of the replacement gasket for the Tillotson carb. Having problems with startup with. HU 10A carb. Can you help me? Joe
Does anyone have any information on a Tillotson carb. It came off an older model husky 266xp. The only identification is S163A417 on one side and top and bottom say made in Ireland and 1963, possibly a mfg date? Anyway, I can’t find anything about it to even order a repair kit. I bought the saw used so I have no history on it, but I have my doubts that it is original to the saw. Any info would be appreciated.
I have an older 181se that quit running on me , It had some wiring issues I fixed all that . I rebuilt the carb, now it will start up for a minute but then it chokes itself out. I also noticed it will run longer if it's just sitting on the bench. As soon I pick it up to try to cut it stalls right out. Do you have any ideas or should I just buy a new carb. It used to run really good and I love using that old saw. Thank you.
@@donnywalker4691 I followed your instructions for the carb rebuild. I think it's right. It starts up sometimes normally w the choke then when you turn the choke off it wants to stall, and if you pull the choke back on it will stay running. So if you feather the choke in and out it will run a little. I think the motor is in decent shape it always ran strong. And I appreciate your help and all your videos too.🙂 the 181 is so much faster than my 357xp it's killing me not having it.
