Great video! I work on lots of old obsolete stuff. Usually the housing and impellor is fine and all I need to do is replace the bearings and seal. Who is a good supllier of bearings and seals? I'd like to order by dimentions if possible
If the impeller or pulley flange of your pump has pulling holes, best plan is to pull them first. Sometimes there’s something hidden behind the pulley that’s important to know before you break the housing! Most water pump housings aren’t all that strong. when you get to pressing and the impeller is stuck, you can crack the housing. Sometimes you have to do it that way, but it’s best to pull impeller if there’s a provision to do it.
This is a great vid, but your particular seal style does not contact the impeller shaft as you indicate with a clearance fit, however there are ones that are an interference fit on the shaft and need to be pressed on. The pressed bushing of the seal will turn with the shaft in that design. You should have mentioned the press fit design as well in the video to avoid confusion to the assembler when they go to "slip" the seal over the shaft and it interferes.
Thanks a lot - a really helpful video and very well done. I am just rebuilding my tractor water pump and your video is perfectly on target!! George Rutherford in New Zealand
Thank you for a good video that explains how to actually rebuild a water pump. Many other YT videos are fluffed with nonsense about what a pump is or how coolant works. :)
but you started after the pulley was of and skipped over pressing the shaft out of the impeller those are the are the things people need help with without it the video is worthless.
Nice info I'm mechanic auto Can u change water pump move not from crankshaft but into turbines using turbocharger it will increase enggine power also reduce enggine baggages.. and oil pump also Re.. Andy
my car has a special water pump that costs over 400$ I found the same pump but not the same cast, the internals are identical, can I simply press the 68$ rebuilt pump's internals out & install them in my old pump?
I have a John Deere 1050 tractor it overheated. It was the first time it is overheated that I know of. I just checked the thermostat and it opened in boiling water. So here's my question. It has a direct fan yamar three cylinder Diesel engine. If I spin the fan fast enough with the top radiator hose off (and the thermostat out) would I be able to identify if the pump is working by the water sucking or shooting out of the top?
I do not order by dimension so I don't have supplier. OEM suppliers many times have kits or aftermarket kits are sometimes available. tiredirontractorparts . com
Not all bearings get pressed out the pulley side. I did it your way, inside to outside, and the Impeller broke. The pump is an F2244R. On this one, once the pulley is removed, and the hairpin keeper removed, I press the bearing to the inside, and then block the impeller and press the shaft out.
thanks for your patience many countries of south, america do not manufacture spare parts for vehicles, so we have to repair, thank you for your videos ..
Man, it is great to know how to do this. My water pump on my car just went bad. It costs about 189.00 dlls. This could definitely save me some money. Thank You very much for this video.
Cool video, really informative. i think people should overhaul water pumps more often. what would you commend I use to remove a pulley hub for a spin on clutch.
I have your video series and they are great. You do the best job I have seen in explaining what you are doing that I have seen. If you would really get into various repairs on different makes of tractors you would have a tremendous following.
