Also, unlike other Vols fans I’ll admit the defense has been horrific. I think it will be slightly better this year just because we will have a more athletic secondary and more depth at MLB. Elijah Herring was the cause of half the yards we gave up when he was in the game. Too slow for pass coverage and always picked the wrong gap against the run. Tennessee is 1000% a better program than Mizzou. Last 3 seasons Tennessee: 27 wins 12 losses 2 Bowls wins 2 AP top 25 finishes 2 top 15 recruiting classes. Mizzou: 23 Wins 16 losses 1 Bowl win 1 AP top 25 Finish 1 top 15 recruiting classes.

Outside of one WR and one good RB who is now gone, what else was there on this Mizzou team? Cook? Plus hwen TN scores over 60 and one 70 score on you 2 of the last 3 seasons, well? Let us know when MIzzou beats Bama or UGA. TN has done at least one of those in the last 2 seasons, SC has not. I think we'd have beaten them if we played them earlier in the season before we lost many starters to injuries. And yes, I think Cook is better than Milton but not enough to where TN couldn't have beaten them prior injuries. But without Shroader I don't see them winning ten games this regular season. TN should have the better offense this season with Nico with more targets than Cook with Burdin. Outside of Burdin, I don't know who else Mizzou has unless someone targets emerge with talent.

The only question that matters here is this. Of those players that transferred out, did it improve their draft stock and draft moreso than than staying at SC? In their minds yes. More exposure, more money and they see guys that transferred out getting first round drafted. What can SC do to prevent this? Get better. How? Coaching and winning.

Truth. Mizzou would have 2 or 3 more losses if they played a Bama and Shroader wasn't on their team. Without that RB, imo, they lose several more games. Including TN. Burdin is not enough for Cook. One year is it for them imo. I think they lose 3 or 4 games this regular season. And once Cook is gone? I don't know who they have that would be an upgrade to Cook.

I don't necessarily think the o-line will get any better unless the coaching gets better. We have the same type players (lee/moore etc)and the others are very young. I think the coaching blended with offensive minds is what propels offenses. Coaching downfield blocking etc.

Hmmm out of the 3 Sports talk J mentioned, two went on to improve at those other schools. So what does those other schools have that SC does not? FSU and USC are national media darlings and yearly have athletes headed to the NFL. SC has them too but aren't media darlings and aren't at the top of their conference like these teams are so they can be bought out. Fair, not fair? Does it matter? No, not as long as SC starts winning or has deeper pockets to spend to keep them. This is what it looks like when your not near the top of your conference and aren't spending a ton of NIL money to get, "and retain" guys. Sports J wasn't lying and wasn't telling you anything that isn't true. It's just ugly truth. Would you as a player rather play for Shane Beamer vs Riley or FSU's HC? I wouldn't. No offense to Beamer but name recognition along with going to schools that are competing in their conferences yearly at or near the top. They see money, and national attention which is good for the draft. SC can get there and right now should have the edge over Clemson whose HC refuses the transfer portal in this day and age. How foolish. Win at a high level and this all goes away.

He will poach players, he will flip them but he will also play and pay them when they do come. Norvell vs Beamer. It's Norvell all day and you'd take him over Beamer too. We all would. I want the guy willing to spend and go get. FSU also just has a higher brand past successful name. They ahve some national titles. I don't even know if SC has a national title in football but the average person knows FSU does. I think SC can get a better coach. Want to make us worry at TN. Go get Alex Golesh and pay him a ton to get him to SC. Than your offense will be very very good, you'll win more. That's just my opinion. That is good because it gets those extra millions of revenue and donations to fix what's wrong with the football team. For the 3rd year in a row, TN is the most winningest sports school in the country and that is how we are upgrading everything, AD Danny White is probably the best AD in the country with having the money to hire who he's hired to win championships. So far this year we have 3 SEC titles and one SEC tournament championship. If we can do that, so can SC. Just spend the money and you'll have the money generated to handle spending season which is all year round now.
SC will be better when they truly become a developmental farm team. Now, they are, "Dad, at least I get to play in the SEC." Be happy Vandy is in the league. The new system of getting an even split with the rest of the teams and having a deeper purse may pay dividends down the road.

Sure that's an opinion but the it's fact that SC's top players transfer out.. That's all Sports J is saying. As a Vol, let me give you an example. If we were down to only a couple of good WR's and RB's, our best 3 players in these positions are transferring out yearly, we don't retain our best player for the position somewhere. This means Wright would have transferred out, Hyatt, and another, all on a team that has half the depth at these positions that TN has. And you and I would have the very same take as Sports J.
