Chapter 7 has literally no reason to exist other than showing that Airy's wings are counting down. But they could have just started at 4 in the first place.
+Swiggity Swag in my opinion, they should have cut out chapter five, and merged chapters seven and eight. we still get the looping worlds established, but with far less tedium.
With the celestial thingy with Tiz, I think that the celestial in Tiz is supposed to be the player. Think about it. When the celestial realm opens in the final battle, the 3DS camera turns on and displays your face in the background. Ourobouros might be trying to gain enough power to invade the real world, a.k.a, the Celestial Realm. The celestial in Tiz supposedly make the warriors of light you control "different from the others", according to Airy, and these are the only Warriors of Light you control, allowing them to break the chain. It might just be me being wierd, but hey, it's not like it's new for me.
Forrest (Spoiler Bravely Second) in Bravely Second Tiz wakes up because of another celestial called Altair which has a very deep connection with the story of this game.
@Kuma I prefer the make everyone a Valkyrie (read: Dragoon) with at least 1 of them knowing hasten world from time mage, then never take damage again strategy
I really wanted to play Bravely Second but could not for the life of me remember what happened in the second half of Bravely Default, this video was perfect, thanks man!
The funniest thing is, Tiz pretty much spoiled it when first seeing her. I'm pretty sure that went over a lot of heads on their first playthrough, including me.
The reveal of Airy as a traitor I saw coming a mile off and was a little disappointed but after completing the fake ending and going to the title screen seeing the subtitle fade to red leaving Airy Lies omg that's fantastic!
the player is the celestial spirit, " The celestial spirit is you the player. When Norende was destroyed and Till died Tiz was brought to state of near death, falling into a coma. The reason he finally awoke from that coma at the start of the game was because Airy's sister led you the player into him. Your spirit gave Tiz the strength to awaken and live once more, and then you guided him and the rest of the party to take down Airy and Ouroboros. The celestial spirit inside of Tiz is what Mephillia was talking about when she said another soul resided in him and why DeRosso called him hollow. During the confrontation with Ouroboros he speaks directly to you the player and in fact his whole plan was born because of our world. He saw us as fellow gods but thought the world we lived in was a boring place, and assumed we felt the same thus why we mingled in this world. That their world is just a game to us and that we mingle in it, commit murder, and feign emotion to relieve our weariness. So he sought to reach our world and bring to it excitement and chaos, essentially it would be making our world like the game world. He was connecting all the worlds till they basically reached the end of the line where he finally be able to break into the celestial realm, aka he break the forth wall. His battle shows this off as well he starts off by mimicking the way we interact in the world by copy our party...and then literally mimicking our actions. While in the last part of the battle he yells behold the celestial realm and rips a tear into our world, at this time the 3DS camera turns on starts feeding what it sees into the game...though the camera is so god awful a lot of people don't even notice themselves appear. Anyway after all was said and done Tiz understood the truth himself and knew that we had only joined with him to help Airy's sister stop Ouroboros. With the worlds safe, Airy dead, and Ouroboros defeated there was no more reason for us to remain. So he didn't want to keep us anymore even though knowing releasing us would mean that he falls back into a coma basically dead. That's why he walks to the grave that had been erected for all people in Norende who had died. Releasing us was an act of thanks and his accepting that our job was done." -gamefaqs Hirokey123 www.gamefaqs.com/boards/729328-bravely-default/69318069
Then, Bravely Second did even more with Providence almost forcing you to delete your save files but Yew and all the other characters come and save us to give us a second chance, to try again. This is Bravely Second '' the courage to try again''. These 4th wall break are amazing ^^
writting the game arround the time loop and connection to other worlds, and integrating those themes into the gameplay and game progression was such a bold move, one which sadly makes it a chore to replay but such a unique experience, best detail in this game is the background of the final boss, which is torn to show other worlds, then if you played on the og 3ds, the camera would activate without you knowing. So while fighting this final boss you look at the background and then see eyes!! and they move! and then you realise it's your own eyes and oh my god what a spectacular feeling experiencing that for the first time, definitely one of the smartest use of being on a portable hardware with a camera, i'm still holding my memories of my first time playing this game close to my heart!
Heck yeh dude. Made me LOVE this game. Like, sure the repetitive nature of the latter part feels boring, tbut it served so well for what they were trying to do, give the player time so that they could figure it all out by themselves. I just wish the 2 endings were somehow swaped, the true ending should have been triggered by shattering the crystal.
This is a fantastic video to go over the events of Bravely Default, thank you for making this. You didn't miss a single detail and the music also suits the scenes, I can see you have prepared this video very carefully, amazing work
The creepiness factor of Airy is a great idea and plot twist, but I felt like the realization was too sudden. Ringabel starting to ask questions is something they should have fleshed out more over those repetitive last chapters, because it would have given those gameplay stretches more of a purpose. They just briefly hesitate with the possibility that she's evil, realize it, and the plot quickly turns from there. Imagine the world becoming MUCH more dark and twisted with each loop, the party starts pointing fingers at who is at fault because of increasing pressure, then they finally corner Airy in a way that ties back into why this group is friends to begin with. Persona 4 style. Make uncovering the mystery be more organic instead of just a series of obvious amnesiac flashbacks. It sells everything that it is short. The Airy thing feels like a missed opportunity in some ways. It could have been much more unsettling if they had dropped hints more subtly.
Yesterday was my birthday and today I finally bought myself a switch just in time to play bravely default 2, thank you kind sir for having the indepth summaries for me to watch before I load that bad boy into the switch
Thanks so much for doing this video. Bravely Second comes out next week, and it's been a year since I played and beat Bravely Default and I didnt really feel like replaying it. Redo'ing the whole crystal thing 5 times was exhausting the first time lol. I appreciate this recap though now my memory is refreshed and I'm ready for Bravely Second!
LOL at bravely second, all old asterisk holders return excluding the chemist cause just like from ff5's alchemist, its an OP job with ridiculous combos.
This video is so helpful! I've been wanting to play the bravely games and was in chapter 6 of bravely default before the repetition made me stop playing. With this video I can move on to bravely second and bravely default 2 without regrets! Thanks dude
This is good man. I bought the second game and needed a refresher on the first, since its been like 3 years since ive played. Thanks man. These games are awesome tho. The quality of life stuff in the fluid combat, like auto attacking for grinding and FAST FORWARDINGGG. Ive never liked grinding games, so this game makes it bearable. And of course any game with a class system is fun. Brings back FF Tactics memories.
Thank you for this video! I got to chapter 5 and saw some forums saying that you have to beat the temple bosses 4 more times... yeah, that's not fucking happening... so I stop playing the game right there . 2 years later I decided to see what happens at the end of this game.
So... this game really made the player go through the crystal temples five freaking times? What the hell. I remember stopping at that pink city right after the desert segment, it was early in the game... damn, I am glad I did not continued with this anime nonsense. Hope Bravely Default 2 doesn't have the same kind of repetition. I don't hate the grinding in jrpgs, I actually enjoy it for most part... but to do the grinding by revisiting the same places over and over again? No way, that's lame as fuck. I liked the fairy twist, the multiverse/anime madness is entertaining, so I am still willing to give Bravely Default 2 a chance
Wow! What an amazing storyline and plot. I don't mean to make fun of the seriousness of this game, but they're journey, or journeys if you will, would of been a lot easier if the DOCTOR was with them. XP You know because he's a Timelord and all. Otherwise I'm seriously considering buying this game.
+cptkilgore I'd imagine based on which universe took 'precedence', Ouroboros would be perfectly capable of devouring the Doctor (the only reason the Heroes could win was due to thier thousands of counterparts, and to my understanding the Doctor is a multiversal singularity). Again it depends on which universe would hold priority; Bravely Default's or Doctor Who's...
I must thank you my good sir I bought BD special edition when it first came out and BS special edition but i dont have the time to play the first since i have a big backlog of games watching this video made me feel very informed before playing the second thanks again
Hope to see the second game recapped too. Though I saw Chrono Trigger in your list last time I checked here too, but it seems no longer there. Oh, and is Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis in your list too?^_^ Either way, love these 'what happened' videos.^^
Awesome video. Really wanted to know the story but i just couldn't get through the second half. Might go back and play it now though, those boss fights look awesome.
does that make the other ending(s) non-canon? its been a while since i've finished the game, but the other ending is where you deny the crystal, is there another besides this one and the one in the video?
You kind of skipped over the final stand in Eternia in the last world with all the bearers (wherin the heroes are acknowledged by Braev to be worthy to end the fight) and go over the 'false' ending. But as a condensed synopsis this was well done and covered all the major points of the story.
Am I going crazy or didn't you do a video on "What happened in Bravely Second?" I mean I know it's been a year or two since Bravely Second but if anything are you gonna do one?
This video along with the music is something I keep coming back to. Idk why but it just draws me in and I actually watch it to the end in each session. Gosh you're awesome.
I love this game so much. Coming back to this to re-experience the story a little while a friend borrows my copy. Can't wait for Bravely Second later this month!
Great recap! A couple questions I have though: 1. How did Alternis/Ringabel come to this world? 2. If Ringabel is the Alternis from the previous world, how does the Alternis of the current world know Airy is evil? 3. Ringabel says that the Angel is the Agnes from his world. But the Sage says that Agnes appeared to him on the battlefield 1800 years ago. Does that mean that Ringabel is from 1800 years ago too? How does that work? 4. In the alternate ending where you break a crystal, the Angel brings the party back to life. How is this possible if she is just a normal Agnes from a previous world? I just finished Bravely Default last night and watched this in preparation of playing Bravely Second. Then I'll be prepare to play Bravely Default 2 when it comes out next month :)
1. Considering the pillar of light transferred the heroes to alternate worlds at the end of chapter 4,5,6 and 7 and ringabel survived while they were at the pillar of light, it maybe that he survived because it made it to the alternate world at a convient time, transporting ringabel to the luxendarc we start in 2. Sage yulyanna, lord derosso and braev the Templar all know that airy is the the evil one. I’m pretty sure braev told alternis that airy is the evil one.
I'm confused, in chapter 5/6 the group speaks as if they know they're in different worlds, yet when they relight the crystals, they speak as if they have been in the same world ? Is that suppose to be interpret as the player not knowing about "Multiverse" or what ?
so, the characters on Bravely Second are not the same as the ones in Bravely Default? (because all go into different parallel universers) (i havent played bravely second so if it's responded there, i dont know it :o!)
There's just one thing I don't understand. What caused the crystals' corrupted state in the first place? And what would have happened if they had never been awakened?
thank you for making this! i can't enjoy bravely second because im not finished bravely default yet (getting bored in chapter 5). I really want to know the whole storyline first! now i can continue the second. i love you, but neither of us are probably gay :(
Re-fighting all the asterisk holders and getting more insight about their pasts and goals. It is a good game but the later half did drag a bit, and I did enjoy it.
In the AR Movie in the re-release version of Bravely Default, Tiz is inside the White Magic Chamber that Victoria was in. As he saved the world, releasing the celestial soul that shared Tiz's body put him into a coma. In the AR movie, they explain the amount of time he was inside the chamber. Scientists intended to do studies on him for having a godly presence. Before Magnolia, the woman in the AR movie comes to his rescue. Incapacitating the scientists and killing a strange beast sent through a tear in the skies. Magnolia reveals she's a Ba'al Buster, which will be explained in the sequel, Bravely Second. .(AR movie allowed you to see outside a few windows)
alternate clothing that you can buy and overrides the job clothing. its 200.000 pg and requires norende to be fully completed before being available to buy from the adventurer
+Andrew W Ahn-yas sounds like something pink guy says though.. ...if you don't know what i mean do NOT look it up. you will contract cancer and/or autism by being exposed to it.
That's partly correct. Keep in mind the original first game did NOT have the Bravely Second feature. That was a feature of the second game that was added for the re-release version of the first game, called Bravely Default: For the Sequel, which is the version the USA got.
An in-universe theory: The time bending power of Bravely Second is so great that it leaked into some of the versions of Luxendark (I hope I spelled that correctly) before it was invented by a character from the sequel.
In fact, it's the adventurer from the 1st game who gives it to Tiz in the first game. He got it from BS which Yew gave him for something special. But I won't spoil what it's use for :P
