Recap of Drakengard 2 (RECAPitation) 

Drakengard 2 may be the black sheep of the series, but I'll always love it for how it is very uncomplicated compared to the other games. The characters are simple, their struggles straightforward, and it works pretty well as a standalone game. Adding to that, it has probably the happiest ending between both Drakengard and Nier, and I can't help but love it for that.

I can't help but cry every time I witness Caim and Angelus's deaths. In the end, they still had each other.

I still don't seem to understand the reason they hate this game so much, it's my all time favourite and I can't come to the thought process of why it's as bad as they all say. For me drakengard 3 is the one that's mostly out of place compared to the previous drakengards so I don't know what exactly is going on

Oh boy. I knew this was coming, but now it's here! >_> Yeah. I never liked this one. The anime-ridden story it told left me with a horrid taste of rancid disappoint, but I have to say that it refined the gameplay of the previous game. It basically reversed everything I liked about Drakengard. Still, I'm glad you're fully caught up in this convoluted storyline. I'll meet you on the next battlefield.

I know drakengard 4 won't exist but I really want to see some attack and dethrone god energy from the cast to finally break the cycle

I really love this game, probably bec it feels like a huge fanfic. But like as a game by itself it was kinda good and angelus&caim's death is still burned in my memory. So idk why the hate it gets and im replaying it atm and the feels is heating harddd

At last, Yoko Taro's Wild Ride has come full circle. All that remains is NieR Replicant: ver 1.22

At least this game has the more "good ending" than the other games

Oh, I can recap this game's plot in just a few sentences "You play as nowe, pronounced no-way; Noway is the dumbest idiotic protagonist in the history of dumb protagonists; He fucks up so bad he almost destroys the world; Oh, and he is technically a human dragon hybrid, but that translates into animu bullshit... Oh, and Caim is still around and is still the best, only he is an antagonist now and is the source of the one good boss fight in the game."

i like Drakengard 2, its story is straight forward, the timeline separated from the rest and the future is hopeful for the inhabitants... if i was given a choice to live in any Drakengard world i will chose Drakengard 2...

I've never played any drakengard games, but I was always interested. I see 3 on the ps3 eshop and always want to get it, but I want to play them in order of release. I know 3 is a prequel so should I just go for it?

havent played this game in almost 15 years... and now I realize Legna is Angel backwards xD

210 thousand copies. Then they decided to make a third game. That takes guts. It eventually lead to better, more popular games.

This series is one of my favorites of all time (obviously by my profile pic). I had gotten the first game when it was at Gamestop (only one copy). And my fiance had gotten the second one (same place and only one copy again). I was ecstatic and literally squealed when he pulled it out from behind his back XD. I had played the game so much (it got so scratched up and was unplayable). But I loved the game to pieces. I'm still hoping for a remaster of the trilogy. When I played the game, Manah was ALWAYS my most favorite character to play as next to Nowe in the game.

I love the series I never got to play the 3rd but watching gameplay I know I would love it I played the first Nier also but never got to play the rest and I loved that game also but was to young to get what it was about aside from saving his daughter and draken was to deep at the time for me to understand now I want to replay them

I much prefer the concluded story of Caim, and Angelus in this game... as opposed to being shot down by a fighter jet. That I did not care for.

Despite the gameplay improvements, deciding to focus on a generic chosen one who protects his love interest storylines was an awful choice. Taro's stories work in a very postmodern way to not only reject but also explain why these conventions are bad (specifically Furiae being a criticism of the creepy relationships between siblings in media, or the entirety of DR1 critiquing the desensitization towards violence games can cause through realism). Turning Manah into a waifu for Nowe to protect and save from her own trauma and making the story about Nowe being perfect the whole time just seems like a bit of a slap in the face. I thought the villains (besides Zhangpo and Gismor) were alright, especially Caim, and having an openly gay character was a pretty cool decision, even if Yaha isn't winning any awards for progressivism. The twist with Legna was interesting, too, if a bit poorly paced given how much of it is just exposition dumping, but yea I think it could've been really good if it didn't cling to such generic and forced conventions.

Drakengard 1 & 2 need the Automata treatment ASAP. That would be a dream come true
