It is important to know the process of receiving a freight shipment. Make sure that the product you are expecting arrives safely, and undamaged.
Do not sign the bill of lading until you have thoroughly inspected the unit.
You cannot tell the status of the equipment simply by inspecting the outside, you must unwrap and unpack the unit in order to see every inch.
Although some shipping crates or packing may appear to be damaged on the outside, you'll be surprised to see that they kept the compressor safe on the inside.
Verify this, and THEN sign the bill of lading. Otherwise, when you sign the bill of lading you accept the condition of the equipment as it has arrived.
