Sarah Stewart The full, complete, and heart consuming love he felt for his son when he was born, helped him understand the love the Father has for us. Becoming an actual father allowed him to connect the dots and understand the reason God is called our Father and what that actual means, feels, and looks like. God's capacity for love is much greater than ours, so if Cory can feel such a strong, loving desire for his son, God must care about our well being and love us infinitely more than that. I'm guessing this helped him trust God's character, goodness, and love all the more, now understanding the father son relationship. This may not be exactly what he meant, but I think this is somewhat along the lines. Hope that helps a little
GOD loves us mo matter what we've been through or what we are experiencing, His love is unfathomable and unexplainable in good or bad times, He still remains GOD.
I was in Israel this past March and was blessed to see Bethel perform 'Reckless Love' on the southern steps on Temple Mt. It was a life changing experience . The Holy Spirit was so heavy you could almost swim to heaven . I am so Grateful to the Lord for the anointing He pours onto His musicians.
Reckless Love is loving someone with all of your heart in the off chance that they might love you back just as much. That is exactly the kind of love God has for us. Cory Asbury explained it perfectly in his song. I wouldn't change a thing.
Watch this video with an open mind, listening carefully all the way through and you may very well change your mind. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-79rjZLjh-cI.html
God's love is never reckless. I don't care how well that sounds in a song....when we sing we are supposed to be praising and worshipping God.....we don't do that by insulting Him. I refuse to see this song.
I can relate to Him saying reckless in a sense that His love tares down walls and mountains as the lyrics suggest. We are teaching too deep into our own view of recklessness. The song speaks for itself. The premise of reckless is how God's love is towards anything that gets in our way from living in that love. God's love will break down walls and make them crash. He will tare down strongholds, and be reckless against anything that stands in the way of us receiving that love.
No I simply disagree look up what the word reckless means God's love is not reckless. His love is selfless, relentless and neverending but definintly not reckless. We are not teaching too deep into the view of recklessness. We are looking at the definition to see if it describes God's love correctly it doesn't.
That doesn’t mean you can misappropriate or change the definition of the word reckless then ascribe it to God? Sacrificial is a better word in context.
There are references in scripture that refer to God as The Great and terrible God or dreadful. But this description is positive. Be careful not to judge. Reckless is being used to describe God’s love as one that will go to any and all lengths. You are taking the word to literal. He is thinking outside the box., poetic. You may not understand it but God does and I do and I’m sure there’s others who do I am blessed by his ministry and he doesn’t need to change the title not at all
I’ve been revisiting this word reckless when it comes to God. He in my belief is not reckless I’d think His love is perfect and is constantly perfecting, not to be flawless but to change our hearts from within and then outwardly. All glory pointing back to him and not ourselves.
Cory and his family are great people. My kids love Cory. We miss you at IHOP. Wish you could come back. Great to see how the Lord is using your life. What a Great Love God gives.
kicking down walls, tearing up lies, fighting till finding...........shining light into darkness, searching for those whose own candles have flickered out and for those whose candles still yearn for light....a God willing to fight for us..... dying in the effort to reach us....... purposefully reckless...........
Praise God for His testimony. God's love is not reckless but perfect. He know who belongs to Him. We shouldn't try to be poetic and use words that do not describe God. Reckless definition: heedless of danger or the consequences of one's actions; rash or impetuous. Everything that God does is perfect not reckless.
I know a lot of people hate on this song because God is love and saying that His love is reckless is really saying He is reckless. I love this song because I hear a humble servant singing praises to a God he has yet to fully understand. I'm sure there are some out there that will say they know everything there is to know about God. But in my opinion, I don't think we'll ever truly know the full magnitude of His love until we are with Him in all His glory. His love seems so reckless at times to us simple beings, like allowing people to have children, when by the standards of many it would seem reckless. But really, God's not reckless at all. He can use everything for His glory. He is in control at all times. I don't think our words will ever be enough to describe such a magnificent God, so we are left to let our heart sing praises as best as it can.
Some Christians take exception to the words "Reckless Love", but recently in a house church study it was shown that the word HESED in Hebrew (as shared by Michael Card) really captures the theme of this song. If Reckless offends you replace it with HESED as you are singing it in your shower or car...
The day I heard this song I was soo touched . Cory and I shares the same testimony it was right after my son was sick he couldn't breathe, urinating blood seeing him we thought we were gonna loose him but his reckless love chases me down surely there is no mountain he won't climb up coming after me. I sing this song everyday. JESUS is Lord

it means that Gods love dont care about your situation. its reckless regardless of who you are, old or young, alien or human, Gender all that you can think of in the world. Gods love is reckless.
nicholas qarshie I’m _not_ sorry to say, God’s love is *NOT* reckless, and this video should help you understand that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-79rjZLjh-cI.html You can also just google the definition and synonyms of “Reckless” and see nothing that reflects God’s character.
@@nicholasqarshie6714 that just isn't what the word reckless means. Relentless yes, unconditional even more yes, but reckless only fits if you contort what the word reckless means to fit it within acceptable doctrine
the reason behind this song makes me love it even more..gives me hope for my what seems like a broken relationship with my son..i didnt think it was possible to love this song more ❤❤❤🙏🏾🙌🏾💪🏾
I agree, the Bible does not describe God's love as reckless, given that the majority of definitions of reckless are synonymous with careless. His love is kot careless, but I can see poetically, one of the definitions is without regard of the outcome, which can like I said poetically or figuratively match God's love. It is a beautiful song!
Priscillah Mihegwa me too!! I always think that way!! May God bless us such to comprehend the depth of His love....i still don get how He can love me like dat
I am touched by this song and its not just a song it's more than a song to me. Gods presence just wave arou me during the worship and tear rolling down my cheeks. Its a wonderful song guys...keep up the good work.
Reckless love because people are reckless. We are all sinners. No matter what we do , He still loves us with an overwhelming, never ending love. He gave everything for us despite of people being reckless/sinners.
I love this song sooo much. First time I heard it my 9 yo daughter was singing along to it and it made me cry .. now I listen to it daily 🧡 it’s beautiful
The beauty of the English language is that it is forever changing. It’s alive. Unlike say Latin. Words’ meanings change throughout time and space. Those hung up on linguistics and some “legalistic” view of how God’s love is defined are frankly missing out. This song is anointed.
Would you think it irreverent to describe God as "wicked" seeing as how that word has a more positive connotation in popular vernacular? If words don't have a fixed meaning they become worthless.
Five Star's ✯✯✯✯✭ Five Smiles😍😍😍😍😍 God is never a FLAKE ...His LOVE never changes . He is the same today as he was yesterday and will be the same FOREVER . My life can sometimes be pretty **WRECKLESS** but God will leave the 99 to restore us. Nothing can separate us from His great ➤ LOVE
"Reckless love" Our Heavenly Father's love seems reckless. Think about it. We have betrayed him. Mocked him. Turned our backs on him. Ran from him. Done everything to deserve his wrath right then and there...and yet, his love is there. He allows us another day to live. Another day to turn back to him. Another day of hope for salvation. Another day to repent and accept his love. His love seems reckless because how could you love someone as miserable as we have been with him? Thank you Father..
Amen brother totally agree, people are to eagerly to judge the word reckless. We are all human we do things recklessly without thinking; we dont stop and think! We act upon things we shouldnt be doing, that is why, he explain gods love for him is reckless because we dont see the consequences of our own action that is why gods love is reckless, he comes looking for you. Pray for the direction and guidance of the holy spirit! Thank you father we know you are not reckless. But you do really care for our safely. Thank you Jesus
or selfless. No meaning of reckless fits with God's character. Just wish Worship leaders were more thoughtful with their theology. This was and is the strength of the old hymns - Theologically rich and full of truth.
The reckless end Of God in my life of of all the time of my life all the disobedience and the perverted way and the many years of addition he had me and Im so grateful for his Grace and mercy he has shown me thank you father
If you want to understand if God's love is reckless all you need to do is go into His word, take it from His word, not from man and then you can comment. His word say He is love, and it (the bible) explains what His love is - its patient, its kind, not proud or boastful, longsuffering, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Leaving 99 to go after the one is not reckless - its purposeful, He knows what He's doing when He does it. God so loved us that He gave Jesus and Jesus obeyed God's will to be our sacrifice. that's not reckless - its wonderful, beautiful, awesome, marvelous, gracious, merciful, all loving. He pondered the consequence of His actions before He did it and did it out of His love and mercy for us. We may describe it as reckless from an earthly perspective but from Heaven's perspective, its intentional.
The Holy Spirit entered my body. i really felt it when he entered me. i was filled with peace, love and comfort. God shared his love with me and gave me understanding of how much he really loves all of us. God loves the worst person out there. Even a murderer who killed 50 million ppl. God said he loves that person and hes ready to forgive them if only they ask. He's ready and willing to forgive u and remember ur sins no more. It was love that none of us could express. God told me he doesnt want hell for any of us. Hes not mean at all like some of us may see him. He only warns us because he loves us so much and wants us being reconciled back to him. I felt the holy spirit grieve in me. i started weeping nonstop for hours. The Holy Spirit was weeping for all the lost souls. He told me to pray and plead with God for forgiveness, mercy, grace and more time for all the lost sinners. pray that they come into a repentance and God softens their heart. God doesn't want hell for us. He weeps when 1 soul goes to hell. The lil bit of grief he allowed me to feel was too much for me to bear. i told God i cant handle this grief. its too much for me. God took the grief away from me. He just wanted me to know how high, deep and wide his love really is. I had hate for my enemy and unforgiveness but God gave me HIS OWN love for my enemy. And now i have love for my enemy and ive been trying to help him get saved and be reconciled back to God. There's no way u can love ur enemies on ur own. U can only love ur enemies when u SHARE in Gods love 😊💖 God is truly beautiful and he loves you so much. He doesnt want bad for u. He wants u to know and feel how much he loves you and he is for u 😊💖 we may fail God and get mad at him, but God will never fail us and will never leave us. I know this from experience😊 Jesus loves u 💖😊 read the bible starting in the book of John 😊 The NLT version is more easier to understand than KJV 😊💖
It doesn't make sense right? Why are people trying to justify it saying that the song is saying "in our eyes" the love of God is reckless....its not reckless no where in the Bible does it say God's love is a reckless one. WE humans are reckless....🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
There’s no one in christian music that has paid their dues and earned their position more than Cory. He’s been blessing me with his worship since his ihop prayer room days
No it doesn't, however its definition doesn't change. As a worship leader, should I choose to perform this song, I must now explain to my congragation why I am using that word so as to not stumble any potential weaker brothers or sisters every time I perform it. The meaning is not stated or explained nor is it inherent in the song itself. I am not against why Cory uses the word, because yes from a human perspective it makes no sense and it seems reckless and unplanned. But we need to keep in mind it isn't about our perspective, its about Gods eternal glory. It may seem drastic to us, but it was known to God before the foundation of the world. Wording can mean the difference between Christ centered worship and worship attributed by self.
I see all of the comments and all of the responses. There is no need to argue the point at all. Just find the concept of "Reckless Love" in scripture. Let scripture dictate if God's love is Reckless (By Definition - (of a person or their actions) without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action.)
Nope, no where in Scripture is God’s love described as reckless. The song is terrible. It is wrong theologically. God is not reckless. Describing God’s love as reckless diminishes God. It turns God into a desperate fool who will do anything without regard to the consequences. There is no nobility in acting impulsively, without fully-understanding the nature of the situation. God is not impulsive; He is not clueless. There is nobility in calculating the cost, contemplating the consequences completely at Gethsemane, and going to the cross anyway. That is more noble and glorious than recklessness. Not only is this song terribly theologically, but it is also narcissistic. It really is self-focused. "There's no shadow you won't light up Mountain you won't climb up Coming after me There's no wall you won't kick down Lie you won't tear down Coming after me." This is a man-centered song that preaches the gospel of narcissism. This song is perfect for a generation that are lovers of self rather than lovers of God.
It tickles me that he looks similar to Scooter Braun & Justin Bieber recently sang this song.. 😅😂 Great testimony..! 🔥🙌🏾🔥 I also love how the interview is genuine & flows so seamlessly..! 💣 - @Acharich
I think this song has made people take time to really check whether God's love is really reckless, and that is when you will encounter God personally. Find me someone so lost and unworthy of God and that is the very one person that God would gladly leave 99 in the fold to bring him/her into His love. In our human thinking, we unconsciously think safety first and we would find it logical to the ONE because we already have 99, one wouldn't matter. But I am so happy that God doesn't think like us. Love you my brother Cory.
The Bible is very clear about Gods love. Please study your Word and don't base your christian world view on lyrics. No where in the Word of God will you find a reference to God's love as reckless or any word related to reckless.
Get over yourself and appreciate the meaning behind the song as a whole. It appears reckless to sacrifice yourself for people who deny you and hate you. To love so dearly the very people putting u to death appears reckless. Appreciate the context will ya? Christians really need to stop nitpicking.
Before you judge this song and the lyrics, you might want to dig further about the story and the idea behind the lyrics. Cory already explained the meaning of reckless love on other video. And stop saying because the words reckless love are not on the Bible, they are not biblical. It's a poor way to interpret Bible. The term Trinity isn't on the Bible. So will you say that our God is not Trinity?
I think some people are defending the song’s use of the word reckless because they have gotten an emotional high off singing the song and they don’t really know what reckless means. Reckless has not changed it’s meaning and we don’t get to use a common word like that to mean something else. It is inappropriate, it is wrong, to refer to God, or his love, as being reckless. This isn’t about being Pharisees, this is about people refusing to accept correction when they make a mistake. Pushing back and attacking the correction is changing an honest mistake into insolence. It is sad to see people so unwilling to submit their opinions to truth because of their emotional experiences.
Nathan Boyle reckless is acting irrationally. Not thinking about consequence. God has a plan all these while. He knew what he was doing right from Genesis
The song is terrible. It is wrong theologically. God is not reckless. Describing God’s love as reckless diminishes God. It turns God into a desperate fool who will do anything without regard to the consequences. There is no nobility in acting impulsively, without fully-understanding the nature of the situation. (God's love for us was well thought out.) When we were unable to help ourselves, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly. God shows His great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:6, 8 The Lord says, “My thoughts are not like your thoughts. Your ways are not like my ways. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9 2 Timothy 3:1-5 English Standard Version (ESV) Godlessness in the Last Days ( lack of reverence or proper respect for God) But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, ►►reckless◄◄, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
Ugh, c’mon. Have you even tried to understand what’s being said. Your literalism really limits you. That God would lay down His own life for a sinner such as I? That he’d leave the 99 for the 1? That doesn’t seem reckless to you!? It sure does to me. Not to say that it isn’t also good. It sure is. But yeah, it’s reckless if you are looking at it in real world application. And that is what makes His love so fantastic!
Show me biblically where the word TRINITY is in the Bible. You can’t because it ain’t there but you sure can find an accumulative case for it. Same with this word reckless that you are so hung up on.
Here is the bottom line of all of it, we should be just as willing to pursue God as he is willing to pursue us. That means totally answering what he has called us to do, no matter what. Not a sermon, just a thought.
I feel it's reckless from a human view and maybe he sing from a human view. It like it you meet someone and on the first night they where willing to die for you ! At first sight. A lot people would think that reckless. But to God he knows it what he's doing. I love the song
If you do not believe that God's love is indeed "reckless" then you may not understand the level of your own depravity and exactly what was done on your behalf. God the father gave his only son Jesus for us when we were dead to him because of sin. Reckless isn't the half of it!
Definition of reckless: heedless, careless, headstrong, rash, imprudent, lacking good sense, creation of substantial and unjustifiable risk to the lives and safety of others. Where is scripture is God's nature or character or His love in any way described as such? Why do we insist on ascribing sinful, human behavior to a Holy, Righteous and Perfect God? God's love is not reckless. His love through Jesus Christ is SACRIFICIAL. There is a huge difference. Should we continue to offer to our perfect and Holy Father a song, (as well intentioned as it might be), that mischaracterizes and slanders His Holy character? I realize that Cory here has composed a song with the best of intentions, but good intentions do not equal truth and we are called to worship God in Spirit AND in TRUTH. Reckless love is not truthful about God's love.
ive researched this a lot. Cory could have used a better word than reckless, but the way he intended to use it, was that the definition of reckless is what it seems to us. It seems reckless and childlike to love the way God loves, He loves the very people who hate Him, and who have fallen from what He intended them. Thats what he means by reckless, like in our human minds we see it as reckless. I dont think its a good worship song, worship should be found directly rom scripture but it is a good praise song.
reckless without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action. ........ God will recklessly do whatever it takes to save His children. If He needs to shake up their sinful life in order to give them a new one, God will do it no matter what! If He has to bring an addict to rock bottom, sending him/her to the hospital, near death, until the addict repents and calls out to the Lord, for the very first time in their life, to save them, then God will do anything need be to bring glory to His name. So, if that means someone has to be at their breaking point in order for their hearts to finally be responsive to the voice of God, may His Will Be Done! If God needs to recklessly allow someone to be put in danger just so they can see Truth, hear Truth and believe His Truth, and be saved! Bring on the danger. No matter the consequence! A season of Homelessness, Abandonment, Illness, A Broken Relationship, Anything! If a season of suffering brings along a change of heart in a person, may His will for their life prevail. Salvation comes with a price, if one's whole life needs to be torn apart in order to be built into a godly one, God will do it without caring about them losing a life they once believed they needed. He will recklessly reveal to them that in reality, all they (WE) need in this life is Him.
E. J. O. Yes I agree, maybe my words wouldn’t be reckless, but I truly understand! I had to know I was lost first before I became found by my Savior King! Numbers6:24-26
@@heismightytosave527 Yes, reckless wouldn't have been my word to use either, but when you look at it from another viewpoint, "reckless" also fits. God bless you sister.
The love of God seems reckless to men despite of me being a worse sinner that no one could ever forgive me, still God came to search me and left the 99. Isn't God's love seems to be reckless to a man??
Why are people not understanding the love of God being reckless ? He leaves the 99 to pursue the 1, he runs down flights without any concern for himself, how it may look to others, he doesn’t care, not even considering the cost, to him, it doesn’t matter, he bankrupts heaven to have you ... basically he continues to love you no matter what you do, even to his detriment he continues to love you, over his dead body he continues to love you, reckless is a perfect human word for how God loves, simply because human beings don’t understand that God is love - to everyone on here worried about the word reckless I challenge you the become more intimate with Jesus you simply don’t understand him as you could, and drop what you think you know about him and become personal with him you will experience the shear reckless love he has for each of us. Stop hating on this mans message and experience Jesus individually as he has, you simply can’t understand something you haven’t experienced yet
Neither God, nor His love are ever described as reckless in Scripture. Any experience that leads us to a conclusion about God that is outside of Scripture is a lie.
The story behind the song takes the song from being bad theology to being heresy. Cory Asbury stated that God throws himself out there on the off chance we respond to him. Essentially, Cory stated that God acted without knowing the consequences. That is the heresy of open theism.
