Recliner seat frame fix

Fixing the wooden frame of a lazy-boy like recliner. The frame for the seat broke apart, due to weak joinery. I made some new wooden parts to make it stronger than new. There wasn't anything wrong with the reclining mechanism.

I love turning old recliners into outdoor furniture, I remove all the material and replace was soft wood, usually ceader. I will bo to stores and buy outdoor cusions and use them. @bloodgain
@bloodgain 3 года назад
@@SuperAWaC Well, I have one that's about 10 years old and one that's older (14 years, I think?), and aside from some normal wear and tear from almost daily use, they're both in excellent condition. They have a few loose stitches or tears in non-visible places where the fabric touches wood, usually because people (me) push off those places to readjust their position. They need a little lithium grease where metal meets metal once in a while to kill squeaks. But the wood and overall frame is still in _excellent_ condition, as is most of the fabric, to my surprise. Now, I do agree that they're steeply marked up. La-Z-Boy can be hard to haggle down, too, unless that's just my local place. But since they've lasted WAY longer than any other recliner I've had, I probably came out ahead. And believe me, I assumed it was a gamble, but I was tired of replacing junk chairs, so I figured it was worth a shot.

Kudos! Nice fix and improvement! I had bought a recliner from Morris that failed (snapped) within a month of use- and we're not a 'heavy' family. I could have fixed it in the same manner as you did and made it even better than it was, but it wasn't even a second hand purchase let alone a trash pick and I refused to do that to a brand new chair that turned out to have workmanship not even worthy of the dollar store. (The gall some furniture manufactures/retailers have to pass off absolute crap as quality is beneath my understanding!) I returned the chair and after a long battle with the retailer and mediation from the BBB I got all of my money back.

I am currently working on repairing the wood frame on a 1995 Franklin recliner I saw on the side of the road. It was just like the large recliner I had slept in for 6 years, but due to moving company's policies they wouldn't help me load it in the car, so I had to leave it at the storage place. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in over a year. I am so grateful for videos like this. And yes, I do have a Shark steam cleaner.. I do like to be able to reuse and repurpose things, and not be so wasteful. And with the economy the way it is right now, it's a damn good idea.
