Enjoyed your video and seeing your tie collection. My father was a men’s neckwear designer. I always remember him bringing home beautiful swatches of silk material. A lovely and elegant man who passed too soon back in 1964.

Very cool video. I just came across a big box of vintage ties from my grandfather (I'm 46). I may keep a couple for myself just because they look awesome. Not sure what to do with the rest.
That was a great video! I am female, but used to wear ties when I dealt cards and loved ties! Of course that was my Before Christ days, and I went to nursing school. But now I am an eBay reseller and I can look for ties again!!! Yippee! You are knowkedgeable and easy on the ears for listening. Thank you!
Loved your video. You seem very knowledgeable on this topic. i am a vintage tie collector and got a box of new old stock that has never been sold. I can't tell if the ties are from the 20's or 30's. They are very short ties with no lining in them. They are a lot shorter than 40's ties. How could I verify the year in which they were produced. Do you collect or wear any other vintage clothing? If so could you make a video on it or showing some of your other vintage ties? If you have any from the 20' or 30's and show them in a video this would help me on determining the year of ties that I got. Keep making video's, you did a great job and im like you I wear vintage almost every day at work.
How are you able to find ads related to a certain tie? Is there an archive? I have many ties I love and I’m certain are old but am interested where to start. Thank you for sharing and I hope you educated that waitress on proper fashion! It’s a shame she couldn’t recognize style.
Great video! Super helpful information for me. I collect vintage ties but only ones I wear. I only like skinnier ties so it’s more limiting for me but when searching for ties for myself I come across many wider vintage and antique ties. I get my ties cheaply and I known these ties have value even if they aren’t for me so I do sell on EBay a bit. I only list the ones with tags because I can get an approximate value, year, and fabrics used so I know how to price it. With so many older ties not having labels do you have any advice or know any resources to help determine an unlabeled ties value? I think this subject would make a good follow up video to this one as well as I’ve seen the interest in vintage and antique ties grow the past few years. Thanks for your time! 👔
i recently found a tie that I'm sure is vintage (the label just looks old) but it's italian and I ca't identify it. The maker, Al Duca, is still in business but there's not a shred of info online about his vintage silk ties. Do you have a resource for identifying such ties? (it does have a pull through loop so i guess it's post-60s)
Instead of “square,” you’re looking for the word “symmetrical.” I was totally confused when you showed two ties with triangular ends and said that one was square and one wasn’t. Also, “lined” or “hemmed” would be good descriptors for comparison.
You know, I honestly haven't tried. I would try a small bit of Woolite on a cotton swab on the back side of the tie in a very small area to test it out. If the paint is raised or textured at all, I'd probably avoid it.

Keep this in mind when you put yourself on a public platform the terminology you use is important when you talk about antique versus vintage to quote Google and many experts: "For an item to be an antique, experts agree that it must be at least or over one hundred years old. While there's no official expert consensus for an item to be considered vintage, many agree an item should be between twenty to ninety-nine years old."
