Strong work brother. As a former lacrosse player and the cartoonist who painted that wall- I salute you! Teamwork is not lofty ideal, it is a way of life!

Hell's Kitchen, NOT Clinton! Well done. I see Gerard Nevins a few times, that's nice💚. I like to tell this story. Was less than a year on the job, marched in the St Paddy's day parade in 1999 with the pipe band, got an early relief so I could catch the band bus from Boston that morning. Ended up staying over that night in the new yorker with my parents. Didn't want to go home without a shirt for the guy that came in early. The next morning we went walking( me still in my class A's), KNEW NOTHING about the FDNY, the three of us happened on Rescue1. Gerard Nevins met us at the door, brought us all in to the kitchen to show us his firehouse, he could not of been more welcoming, a very nice man. Offered us coffee, met Capt. Hatten and Al Bengiman, bought a shirt for my buddy and left. I always wish i bought one for myself

Fun Fact: @ 1:39, you can see a piece of a black iron fence on the wall. There is also a picture on the wall in that same room of R1 members assisting the victim with the fence still lodged in their chest in the 70's or 80's. A very small but cool piece of their history and even cooler that they saved the guy according to the current members I talked to. Great video as well, this company is truly "Outstanding".

@@davidlionheart777 I couldn’t agree more, I have so much respect for all first responders but especially those who put themselves in the most intense and dangerous situations like R1. Again, great job on the video, I loved the way you explained who Rescue 1 is to those who don’t know without dumbing it down.

Funny thing is, Delta has sent guys to Rescue 1 in order to train them on how to operate safely in a burning structure and to team them about forcible entry.

Sadly the uk doesn’t do the same , fallen colleagues are forgotten by the uk Amb / fire service , people who gave their life for the job are forgotten . I work for the Amb service and all photos of Lost colleagues. Have been thrown away by the big boss who wants every Amb station in his area the same , sad but that’s the uk Amb service ,

The term "occasionally patriotism" is DISGUSTINGLY insulting. I'm a 5th generation New Yorker. My immigrant relatives suffered and worked hard. My Uncle escaped Tower 1 of the World Trade Center with 10 minutes to spare. He was a draftsman and 30 year Port Authority veteran who worked on the building's original design in the 1970s. He knew about the non contiguous stairwells and led 30 plus people to safety. He died a horrible death of pancreatic cancer 10 years later. And, I watched the Towers burn for three horrible months from my kitchen window. I DOUBT this filmmaker is from NY. BUT some of us have been here way before it became a overpriced Disneyland.

Good afternoon Mr. Garbato, I hope this finds you well. I want to thank you for taking the time to view the film, I would love to give you a little more background on myself and the purpose of the film, Obviously the vested history you have in the city and that of your family, I would be honored to share with you more about our story. Could we email privately? my email is playforyourfreedom@gmail.com - Your passion for NY is what we are working toward instilling in our youth and making sure they do not forget all of NY's civilian heroes as well as the public workers on that fatal day especially sacrifices from people like your family members. Obviously we mean no disrespect and I believe after we speak you will see that our intentions are focused on honoring NY and its Heroes. thank you sir. David L.

Here Here Play for Freedom, as a life long New Yorker and love for both the fire service and lacrosse Job Well Done. Every human on this earth tries to be the best that they can be, often times it takes a little help and inspiration, the Saints get theirs from Rescue 1, no better roll model. The Saints then bring that esprit de corps on the practice field, in the locker room, game day, work day, home and in their respected communities, we’re every they my be. Being an American is being a New Yorker. Job well done.
