You really have to do long form content for your own personal enjoyment knowing ahead of time it's going to get very few clicks. I will say this. The content I'm most proud of has been the long form content I did for Wolfram Von Eschanbach's Parzival. Nobody watched any of those videos when I originally posted them. However, over the long haul that series has gotten more and more views. I often get comments from college students thanking me for posting those videos because they find the text difficult to understand. However, the most watched video in that series still has really low views compared to an average book haul, TBR, or wrap up video. Book hauls, TBRs & wrap ups are the bread and butter of BookTube. I don't do them. I know it hurts my channel because I don't make that type of content.
That gives me a lot to consider. Seems like my videos always range from 20-35 views. Doing the poems will give me a consistent weekly series and I don’t have the disposable income to do like biweekly 15+ book hauls I see a lot of people do lol. Imagine getting to a point where books could be a write off 🙏🏻
@@Dillon__Morris like you said weekly series have value. Just be cautious about starting too many things and overextending yourself. People doing multiple ongoing series that are scheduled will suffer burn out. In my case doing a TV series review every Thursday for Star Trek is enough. I wouldn't want to attempt multiple ongoing series. I have to sit down and watch the episode. Then I usually watch it a second time to analyze it. That's already 2 hours of my time before I ever sit down to think about what to say and record it. Can you imagine how much pressure it would be to start a second scheduled series? My suggestion would be start a limited series. See how it goes. If you're enjoying reading the poems and you feel like you're getting value out of it then by all means continue doing it. However, you may find you're not enjoying and you may want to do short story reviews instead or a chapter by chapter read along of a novel. It doesn't really matter as long as you are getting value out of the experience. ✌️
I think this is great advice by Dustin. With the long form deep dive stuff you're going to really want to have to do that for your own enjoyment. I don't see these doing all that great all the time and like you said there's a lot of work involved. I personally Don't read poetry but I think that would be a good thing to have on your channel. Just from the couple comments I've seen, everybody seems to be interested in that. Would take less of your time and it would be something consistent that people would look forward to. So poetry is my vote.

Lol😂 But let's see what happens when you get to 52. I used to be in decent shape. All those muscles that I built just added weight to my poor bones and pour on a little extra fat to go over top of those non-existing muscles now. Lol okay sorry I'm getting a little dramatic. 😂
