+RainbowSocks099 Me too. Hardcovers are so costly in India. It is just impractical to buy hardcovers. I don't really see them in bookstores that much because of the same reason.
Glad you mentioned Percy Jackson & The Olympians. Those books really lifted my spirits after recovering from a depression I had over a year ago. That and no one has ever brought Greek mythology to the modern world like Rick Riordan, who is my favorite author.
Everybody really needs to stop talking about the ending of Allegiant. It was ruined for me because of these damn comments. Talk about it on a forum or something.
Agreed, holy shit. I read the first two and on a forum, someone had a topic "Divergent (spoilers)" and it had Allegiant spoilers -.- Hate being mislead but will read it nevertheless.
musarat365 I just finished Insurgent and I too am mad that I was spoiled about Allegiant in the comments. Makes me less excited to dive into it. But I will! XD
I love Percy Jackson & The Olympians, Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, Warrior Cats, Wolves of the Beyond, Guardians of Ga'hoole, Twilight, Divergent, Hunger Games, Mortal Instruments, And Harry potter. Books are life.
This came up in my recommended 6 years after and I remember watching this video back when you uploaded it, I can't believe it's been that long. Anyways, hope you're doing amazing! 🥰💖
I read the Cinder, and Scarlet... T_T IT was such a good book series! '-' .. I really liked the book cinder, and how she pretends to be like ''cinerella'' and goes to the ball, when the prince finds out that cinder was a Cyborg!! xD Then They go on this adventure on the plane and stuff, it was a action filled story! LOved it :P
Trina Gaye Campbell Sorry! I just thought sense we were talking bout' Cress you've had read Cinder and Scarlet. Next time I'll be sure to say: Spoiler alert? Soz.
Kat i love how energetic you are when your reviewing books! i just love watching your videos! i seriously just went out and bought half of the trilogies you talked about because of how much it looked like you loved and enjoyed them! So thanks :) P.S I got the Unearthly series and omg girl i am hooked! i feel like i owe you my life for introducing me to these amazing books!!
Looking through this (you know what I mean) I was wondering if you've ever read the Inheritance Cycle by Chrisopher Paolini. It's this four book series that is kinda for younger people, but it's amazing. It's set in the world of Alageisia, where the tyrant king Galbatorix has ruled since the fall of the Dragon Riders, a hundred years before. It was believed that all the dragon eggs were gone and that the only dragon in excistent was the king's. That's until a young farm boy makes a great descovery. That's like my own summery of the first book. If you think it sounds good, you should read it. It's mostly fantasy, but it has a bit of romance in it.
I'm so glad you showed these books some love!!! Most of these series and trilogy's I have read, but some I haven't and I'm going to get started on that!!
I'm 19 years old and when I was in school I hated reading I hated the thought of books but now that I'm out of school and I have a lot of free time on my hands I have read so many book and now I'm addicted to book! Like I need to be on that Strange Addictions tv show lmao
I love how you're not afraid of sharing your opinion on Twilight series knowing people would judge you and I love how you won't change your opinion because of other people. I love those books too. The people who say they hate the book read all 4 of them in 4 days, nobody can deny the fact that it was addicting. And considering the books I forced myself to finish, or I've read in months, it's a great success.
YES i was so waiting for you to talk about The Darkest Minds and i didn't think you would but then it came last and i was like yes!! literally one of my top favorite book series ever.
Watching this in 2016! I really got into reading last year because of Divergent and I just have one question for you! How hard did you cry and how hard did your heart break when you read chapter 50 of Allegiant?!?!?!?!
I'm currently reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone! After having heard you rave about the books and then read a couple of Laini Taylor's blog posts I just had do start reading it ;) By the way, I lovelovelove you and your channel! One of my all time favorite booktubers :D PS. Just wanted you to know, I'm from Sweden! Your awesomeness has spread all across the Atlantic ;D
Have you tried Morganville Vampires? Inheritance series? Evermore series? They're all quite good. Haven't read all the books in these series but enjoyed the first couple.
I have a recommendation for YOU. The best series I have ever read is the Ranger's Apprentice. The first book is the Ruins of Gorlan. READ IT. It will change your life! :)
OMG SOMEONE ELSE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE ACROSS THE UNIVERSE SERIES!!!! YOU HAD ME AT CASSANDRA CLARE BUT NOW.......ITS A WHOLE NEW WORLD OF GODSPEED FULL OF WONDER
Thank you for mentioning Darkest Minds! Never Fade is actually going to be out October 29th now; a week sooner!! I love how it's a week after Allegiant and a week before Champion! SUPER EXCITING!!
I think you'd enjoy reading the House of Night series. There are a lot of YA novels that get on my nerves in the romance department and I have to say that House of Night does a pretty decent job capturing the confusion in romance that happens in those teen years while still directing the story and keeping it intersting. I also enjoyed how dark it gets in all aspects. It's a supernatual occult-vampire series and takes place in an alternate world where vampires are "normal" though shunned and about as well accepted into society as goths and other such (life)styles. People know of them and can become one at any time by seemingly random occurrence (later explained) during their adolescence - at which they are then sent to the local House of Night school for development and further education. There's this wonderful underlaying theme of Cherokee legends and beliefs, as well, which brings its own uniqueness. There is a magic system that's elemental based (and is connected to the vampires) which is also very cool. Oh, additionally, there's some slight exploration of polyamorous relationships, though not much but I still found it to be a nice add (as someone who is poly). A couple others that you may enjoy are the Sword of Truth series and the Shannara series :) They're both amazing fantasy adventure series that have their own distinct worlds and histories. Both have TV series that are loosely based on them: the Shannara Chronicles (which actually starts with events from the second novels - in book release order) and Legend of the Seeker. Sword of Truth takes place in a three lands D'Hara, the Midlands, and Westland which are separated by magical barriers in order to keep peace. The one seperating D'Hara from the Midlands has since come down and D'Haran forces have been terrorising the people of the Midlands and enslaving them. The barrier between the Midlands and Westland still holds and effectively keeps magic, or anything, from going into Westland. Westland making up an area where people decided to live without magic and shielded themselves off from it (after it was used to create the barrier). Every generation has its own Seeker, however not all are what's known as a "true Seeker", which is a hero who actively fights for truth and justice in the lands. Now, a true Seeker must be named to combat the tyrannical dictator Darken Rahl - that is, if prophesy is to be believed... the Shannara series spans a vast amount of time not only from novel to novel but in story arc couplings as well. So, for example the first in chronological order is the Word and Void trilogy which tells of the beginning of the apocalyptic events that eventually lead the world to become the fantasmic one we know in later series such as the original Shannara trilogy - and there's a dozen of these "mini-"series within the series. Shannara takes place in our world however long since humans have destroyed and mutated themselves into separate races known as: Men (who mutated very little or not at all), Dwarves, Gnomes and Trolls (who mutated the most, arguably). There as also Elves who evolved (from beings known as Sylvans) and came out of hiding during the Great Wars. The series has a theme of daemons and overcoming evil, but at a price. What I love about the daemons in this series is that they're not just hellish beings of ultimate evil that just spawns out of nowhere but manifestations of the negativity, primarially of man. All out hateful thoughts and ill intents embodied after the person it came from is lost (metaphorically or literally). This aspect is heavily explored in the Word and Void series. P.S. I don't think people who enjoy the Twilight novels needs to feel anywhere near the shame of those who actually enjoy the films should xD lol I read the novels and they weren't bad, and they were able to hold my interest...for the most part. Second book has me skipping over her whiney nonsense There are definitely better books out there, but there are also ones that are way worse xD By the way, if you get the chance, read Nightlight aka parody Twilight :P it's funny
Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices are me all-time favorites I hate to choose between them! Then Heroes of Olympus, then Percy Jackson and the Olympians, then The Hunger Games, then Divergent, then The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, then The Host, then Twilight, then Of Poseidon.
I've only read two out of all of these series! Harry Potter was childhood defining, while the Twilight Saga was just a quick read to pass the time. I'd have to think about what my top 15 would be. Great video!
Read it!!! I want to slap myself in the face for reading it late because I thought it was geeky it it was the first book EVER to make me CRY. And I don't cry for books, plus Harry is my book husband now. 💁
I'm happy you can accept the controversy over Twilight and still accept and back up why you love the series and can still accept it's flaws at the same time. Kudos to you! I'm glad you were one that read the books before they got big also like my two best friends. I've never gotten into it so I can't say much >< but I admire you standing your ground for them.
By the way There is a third book in the Divergent Series and it's called Allegiant!!! And there is a fourth Divergent Series book and it's called Four because it's all in Four's point of view
Agree on the UNEARTHLY trilogy..Really enjoyed that series, even though people generally don't like angel books. Loved HEX HALL trilogy too. The MC was hilarious and snarky and I just loved her. Also love the LEGEND trilogy, one of m y favourite dystopians! NO to cover changes :( I was super upset with the last cover change too, but it's growing on me. "I just want to swim in her words."
I loved the Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand! Wonderful, and beautiful...and just ah! Love. The Lunar Chronicles is wonderful...and good lord I cannot wait for Cress. Have you checked out the 5 chapter preview that's out? And don't even get me started on Daughter of Smoke and Bone. That book...seriously. Why has not everyone read that book? What were your thoughts on Days of Blood and Starlight? Also...subbed, love your channel!
I'm so excited because I just finished book 2 in a trilogy I'm writing. 97 is the first and it's available on Amazon! 98 will be coming out November 2014. Here's a description: A no-nonsense and hard-working Jane enjoys her small town life until a handsome stranger comes to town. William brings with him a taste of mystery and a life-threatening predator. When she learns that he risked one of his last lives to save her own, she realizes they have something more special than just a friendship. Woven amongst the modern tale is a clean yet seductive history of the evil men who created William's Warrior race. The two accounts together form a captivating story of loyalty and betrayal, history and timelessness, love and revenge. I love your videos they really helped me with writing my book :) about this video... I love hunger games, delirium, the mortal instruments and my absolute favorites are the daughter of smoke and bones and divergent :D Im from Slovenia and many book haven't been translated yet :/ but I'm patient and read them the first day they're out :P I have a question about writing...what do you do when you get awesome ideas, but you're already writing about something completely different?and what do you do when you have a 'crises'?
Across the Universe: A work of art. Each book kept you on the edge. Each book had a climax and the trilogy itself had a climax. 1st: WOW. 2nd: OMG! 3rd: Mind. Blown.
