Marine Reconnaissance Troopers with Maritime Strike Force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a visit, boarding, search and seizure exercise aboard the dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), underway in the Coral Sea. Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, which debuted the 31st MEU, operates in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready response force for any type of contingency, while providing a flexible and lethal crisis response force that ready to face various military operations.
