I'll never pay 600.00 for a trailcam. Ill stick with what i have, from what i saw my cameras video and photos are better. Buying the cool most popular things isn't always a good thing.imo....Great reveiw Dave.
I appreciate the encouragement! There were over 2000 files I sifted through to edit this video 😮 As far as the pile of paper, it isn’t worth as much as it was a few short years ago 🤪
What a Awesome video and review Dave.U r the man.Mr Trail Camera. I like the spartan too.Lot of work & Money want into that review Totally Fantastic Dave 👍
I have a co- worker who uses spartan trail cams he loves them. Little to pricey for me 😂. Im going on 2 weeks with my new camojojo sofar im really liking it especially the price point with the hunting farmer discount code 🤣
The reconx cameras are great cams minus the price. Exodus is also a phenomenal camera only negative with them is their line charge of $7 every month for every camera. But they are supposed to be going to their own app this year. I was disappointed with the tracks cameras picture quality. Battery life is awesome though. Price point they are ok. Spartan cameras are really good cameras. They have come down on their price in the last couple years which is good. The live view is a nice option but will eat up data quickly. Battery life with mine has been very very good. All are great cameras they all have a lot of positives and some negatives like anything. Ultimately the consumer has to sit down and figure out their needs and their budget and choose from there. Customer service would also be something I would look into. Excellent review as always sir! Any plans on doing some other cameras like wiseye? Awesome little cameras and customer service has been absolutely the best I’ve ever experienced out of all the cameras I’ve run.
Appreciate the kind words about Exodus. We're working on releasing our own app with VERY competitive data plans. All past sold cameras will be able to migrate to the new Exodus app.
Cuddeback offers solar panels for $60, so by the time you were to buy 12AA or 16AA Lithiums for a comparable model (which would cost like $35) you've almost already made up that cost. I don't mind the D's...
Wow!! Once again, I double down, you are the trail camera guru. The amount of time effort and energy put into this video is impressive! As far as which one I would choose... well.. I'd choose.... the Gardpro x50 or the Tactacam 😂 ... I used to own some Spartans and actually really liked them. You would be a better judge bit it seems to me that for what you're paying for any of them, you're not getting much better than some of these other cameras you can get, if at all. But I agree with you out of those 4, that's exactly the order I would have put them. Though I wouldn't pay $600 for a camera even if I could afford it. Phenomenal review!
Nice video! It’s an interesting experiment to see if the more expensive ones are worth the extra money! Great to see them tested side by side, thanks for sharing
I can confirm that reconyx is absolutely trash! Paid 500$ for a camera and out of the box it would not consistently take a photo past 15 feet! Yeah i measured it. Past 25 feet it never took a pic at all. I called the "great American company" and the tech told me.....and i kid you not ....well what do you expect you bought a entry level trail camera!!!!!! 🤯 I told him reconyx wasnt a entry level company and theres no such thing as a entry level 500$ camera. They never offered to test it themselves they never admitted the camera wasnt working right never offered to replace it....NOTHING! So the so called warranty was crap! I boxed it up and sent it back to where i bought it and got my money back.
I feel like you did an amazing job reviewing all of these cameras! I'm very impressed! You really covered everything we needed to know! Thank you, Dave! 👊😁
Before you started doing your rankings, I didn't do a ranking, but I did say based on what I was seeing in your tests, the Spartan would have been my choice. I run Moultrie cell cams, and I never have even tried video mode. But Moultrie takes excellent pictures. I've never had an issue with them.
I want to use a camera that has live view or streaming on a bird bath I have on a mountain house. This are cellular but Will they also connect to a wifi network. I have xero cell phone signal there but I can do starlink. Whcich camera do you recommend in a case like this. Thanks! Great and informative videos.
Great review video and testing. We appreciate the time and work you put in to give us the best information to make a decision easier if we are in the market.
Hey Dave, this was a great review. I actually have 5 Reconyx hyperfire cellular cameras, that I spent a lot of $600 on. And I'm switching them out with Guardepro x60 cellular cameras.(because of you and your reviews) I'm tired of not getting clear pictures with Reconyx, they offer that HD feature, but you have to pay for it. Yeah I know you can go retrieve the SD card, but who wants to do that when its hunting season and you want to count antlers on a new buck that's on your property!?!?! Now I launched these Guardepro"s x60's out about 2 1/2 weeks now and they are working flawlessly. Im still tweaking them a little, but at least this camera sends you the 10bit video to your cellphone, or even both pics and videos. They have the HD feature too, I haven't tried that out yet, waiting for a few more months to go by and see some growth on some big bucks. So basically Reconyx needs to wake up and give what the hunters want, clearer pics and videos for a more affordable price! Oh and that Spartan camera looks nice too, might have to convince my brother to check that one out, I like the LIVE feature on it.
Thank you for this outstanding, objective and critical review. It tells me that I am doing just fine with my platoon of Apeman H45's out working for me now plus a GardePro A3. I dont have a lot of money sunk into them but they secure my boundary for me from trespassing. Glad I dont need to sink more money into them. I need to put up my Keen Ranger PT. Been putting it off due to being a low tech person. This is the best trail cam review Ive seen so far by anyone.
Thank you for the encouragement. Now will you explain this to my banker? The bank denied a second mortgage on the farm to pay for the cameras 😂🤣😂 I appreciate you watching 👍
How's she goin'? These cameras are all pretty good units so it's hard to pick one. And since they are pretty pricey, I don't think I'll have to choose anytime soon!! LOL One thing I did notice though, some of the cheaper cameras you review seem to be almost as good as these Cadillac versions. So am I off base here thinking it would be hard to justify spending the big money on one of these? You do some great reviews Dave and I enjoy watching all the tests you put the cameras through. Take 'er easy!!
Hey excellent tutorial I need something with video on motion capture. Have Wi-Fi capable, would also like solar charging. Should I go with a trail camera or one of those surveillance cameras Like KEEN Your tutorials are second to none
Hey Dave good review , unfortunately i ⛏️ number 3 🙄 so much for my knowledge 🤔 just an fyi I'm older than you but thank God still have my natural color hair 😂 and a gray goatee, work for a school district and one of the girl students said she'd multi color mine i said DON'T THINK SO 😂 but hey no disrespect yours would look better fully colored brother 😁 as always HTTM .
Awesome review as always!! The best camera reviews on RU-vid!! The only thing that was clear to me was how neither of the cameras were worth the price tags ! I’ll stick with my camojojo trace for the money, warranty, and video quality!! The longer I run my trace cameras the more I’m impressed by them !
The Bow Creek cameras have worked well for me. They have great color in the daytime photos/videos (probably better than most others that I use). The app that Bow Creek uses is not my favorite, not horrible, but not my favorite.
Love my 2 spartan cameras! My first one has been in the woods for at least 5yrs. now with no issues. Switched them both over to solar-powered systems which means I never have to go in and change batteries or cards.
Great review. My personal thoughts are I would never pay that much for a camera. I will stick with my 50-70 dollar cameras that do me just fine. Thanks for sharing this with us
I really like your review (as usual) Dave! I would agree with you but wow...the $$$$ - hey its only money! If I had something specific to watch 24/7 and wanted live interaction, the Spartan would be the ticket for sure! So what was that creature running through the food plot @25:53 - was it a starnosed mole? It looked kind of big for a mole. As always - You are the Man!!
I appreciate you watching Dave👍 That was a groundhog with a mouthful of leaves. Must be rebuilding a nest in its burrow. They usually lay low (underground) over winter. This one was getting a head start on spring clean up 😂
Great camera review, thanks. "Mide in china" that is a new one on me 🙂 The Spartan does look very good, I really like the gps tracker feature too. You would have thought that feature would be on all cellular cameras
Great video with useful information. FYI, the Exodus Rival A5 ($179) is only available on AT&T, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular networks, no Verizon. Exodus is releasing their own app, in place of Scoutek this summer, so hopefully it is more robust, quicker, and more reliable. Do you like the Spartan GoLive 2 more than the GardePro X60P (I think this was your favorite cellular camera)? Curious as to why StealthCam, Spypoint, BowCreek, and how they would rank against the top 2 from this video.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate you sharing the info on the A5. I’ve tested the other brands you mentioned (many of those are in other videos on my channel). The Gardepro cameras have their advantages (especially in price) but don’t have the live view or gps tracking capabilities. It really comes down to what you’re looking for and what you’re budget is 😜
Thanks for the review! The Exodus Render was designed 6 years ago so it was way ahead of its time back then! The advancements in technology with the Rival would have be a more accurate depiction of Exodus quality now. At $179 with the same 5 year warranty, the image quality and performance would be ultra competitive with the other high priced models in this test! Also, the Exodus App launch this spring is going to bring a way better App experience and more competitive pricing! Great review!
I threw my spartan go live origial away. Sent back for repairs and their tech people have to be on drugs. Mine took super horrible night videos and pictures and was defective. Was sent back without the seal in it to close it up for it to be weatherproof. I didn't knotice and it leaked and ruined. Spartan said not their fault. Should of tested the ridgetec dual outlook! I got one Id send ya for testing in the next group!
Wow, awesome comparison video! I would agree with your assessment of these four cameras. Interesting to see if Spartan brings down their prices per month, as that's pretty steep.
