[WARNING: jerky POV filming! Watch at your own risk] Taking the standard NE ridge route from Halfmoon trailhead this is a gnarly 4.6 mile climb with 4700' of gain to Colorado's highest point! I go for the FKT (fastest known time).

Hikers are like 'glad we brought all this stuff up on our 6 hr hike up the mountain...' Then Sage rolls in with 1lb of clothing, sunnies, 910 and a camera. Does 8 hours of trekking in 95mins.

I ascended to 3k up Elbert in 1 hour 45 minutes but had to turn around due to an incoming thunderstorm, decended in 40 minutes or less, running. felt defeated that I chose safety over summit. I was in full OCP with a 1 gallon jug of water, no breaks. sad that I couldn't make it

Your heart rate was only 163? Do you have a naturally low heart rate?
@Vo2maxProductions
@Vo2maxProductions 10 лет назад
yeah, I was kind of was being a wuss! No, but really I think the altitude might have influenced that (stronger beats but not as fast). Also, the steepness of the trail reduced me to a power hike about half the time and when I'm walking/hiking I max out my leg muscles before I can get my cardio maxed out. My pow hiking form sucks and it still really hurts because my legs are failing but it's not because of lactic acid...it still freaking hurts! Usually I have to be going sub 5:10 per mile pace/effort on the flats to get over 170bpm so maybe my max HR is a little low for my age.

Vo2maxProductions I gotcha. Makes sense. I found out what the problem was with me. I was wearing my heart rate strap too tight and it messed up my diaphragm and breathing. I lost about 9 months of running progress.
