Record Store Day for April 20th, 2024 happened and I picked up six metal and rock vinyl releases from the event. Given that, we’re going to open up each one, show what’s inside, maybe talk about them a bit, and all of that. So, stick around and let’s check out some RSD records!

I picked up a copy of Tad - Infrared Riding Hood from a record store online the day after. Thats all I needed. Happy I was able to snatch one up. Never smoked pot in my life, but love Cheech and Chong. Up in Smoke and Next Movie are damn near flawless. Nice pick up.

I wasn’t really excited about RSD this time around, but I think I’m going to need that UP IN SMOKE soundtrack. That movie is one of my favorite comedies of all time. I had the soundtrack on CD many, many years ago, so I think now that I’m rebuilding my physical music collection, I should get that on vinyl.

Fortunately, I work part-time at a record store and get albums at cost. I picked up most of the metal albums available. Including the Black Breath box set.

I did attend and grabbed a lot! Bought similar items as you, minus the Voi Vod as I already have it. Was not interested in Cheech n Chong. Did get Thin Lizzy, Excel, Pigs (X7), and the Forbidden. Stayed within budget 😊. Did grab the new High on Fire when I was there, too. Recommend that record, it’s fantastic! I was slightly disappointed in the Eric Carr piece as I was hoping there’d be more since it was in such great packaging. Happy to have it regardless, just being picky. Still enjoyed this year above recent RSD celebrations due mostly to content and releases. I’ll take that trade over lack of inserts and extras as you noticed as well. Take care, Matt. Cool pickups Matt! Agree that Creatures of the Night woulda looked badass with the light up treatment. You missed out on the Taylor Swift vinyl, it was the hottest item this year... I feel bad for you, (LOL)… Voivod etching also badass. No Dio Zoetrope? I'm still trying to figure out how to get the animation to work on my copy. Got most of what I wanted… except the Acid King.

Got quite a bit this year, not all metal/rock. Spent near enough £150 approx over six releases. Only disappointed was missing out on the South Park triple album set. Oh well.

There were a few I wasn't able to obtain, but I got that Witchfinder General, Tad, Dio 'last in line'... and I managed to get an At The Gates from overseas once they started selling their leftovers online. Think I got one more, but can't remember what it was

Other than RSD is good for the Mom & Pop record shops, I’m personally not a fan (especially the “flipper” bullsh*t). But, there are usually 1-2 records released on RSD that I have interest in. This year it was the Ramones and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult LP’s.

Omega Wave unfortunately has a gap separating the intro from Forsaken At The Gates, when it is designed to blend into the 1st song just like on Twisted Into Form. Quite unfortunate. The original vinyl release does not have this issue.

I was 11th in line. I got there at 3 am and it was cold here in Colorado also. There was a bunch of people asking what people wanted and I didn't have to worry, everyone wanted Eric Carr, and The 1975, stuff like that. I go for the soul and latin records, but the one that got me out of bed was the Joe Pesci rsd release. AND I GOT ONE LOL. Great listen if you've never heard it

Cool pick ups! That witchfinder looks sick. And nice packaging on the Eric Carr album. I didnt do any RSD picks this year. But maybe if I see stuff marked down in future I will pick some up

in worc. i was there at 5am and was 22nd. got what i wanted though. forbidden, witchfinder g, tesla(overpriced af!) and the dio z-trope.

I am surgical in opening my new purchases. Your style is more of a "get that thing open" approach. Do you keep the hype stickers and tuck them into the jackets?

If I can get them off the plastic, I actually peel them off and reapply them to my new outer sleeve.
