Yeah I usely side chain to a 2nd mixer track and the 2nd going in to the master also that 2nd track I put my effects on or I just use a lot of different mixer tracks and side chain my main vocal to all the separate tracks and drop effects on each basically it's different vocals mixing techniques so I think that's where some music producer's may have an issue at setting up recording vocals in fl studio I could be wrong maybe they just don't pay attention or read manuals lol
Yea this is why I switched to studio one. Image line should really make this process easier. I use to have to export to record vocals in pro tools. Studio one was a life saver but I still wish I could do everything fast in FL. Been a FL user since 2004 🙏🏽
Hello, thanks for the video! You already explained it but I still can't solve this. When I record my track with the fx in my channel that's routed to a blank channel I hear myself with fx. But afterwards I can't change the fx they are permanently on there. I did the routing and all but I must be doing something wrong.
I just don't understand why FL Studios not giving me that pop up window to buffer my audio. I just found out a week ago why I couldn't record. If you left click on the record button at the top of the program the drop down menu will expose recording filters for automation, instrumental, audio and clips. Make sure you check audio for sure. Now I looked at several instructions on youtube, but didn't find it until I read up on it in the FL Studios manual. Word of advice some people can't be taught through instruction, the instructor tends to miss small menial things because they're well versed. I was like that in school, what do we need teachers for if we have books. For 6 months I've been trying to figure it out. It was that simple. No one on YT show that, or at least the ones I've seen, including this one. I almost gave up on my passion, because I couln't find the answers. My determination to produce music is divine. So make sure you cover all the bases on whatever you choose to teach.
I have to use Asio for all driver for my Presonus 16.0.2 i hear myself but its not recording and my track is linked and enabled, Studio One is much easier with recording
I am following your instructions, my issue occurs right after recording I am not hearing my own vocals and everything is set to the T of what you did, Can anybody help?
i hate recording in FL the only reason im watchin this is because i left my house without setting my cubase. cants stand that you can hear yourself whilst recording
I was setting up fl studio to record vocals then all of a sudden my speakers started to make a sound as if its raining anytime im playing an audio, any idea how to fix this?
10:25 THIS is the ONLY thing that annoyed me with FL Studio and never knew why it did this and I never seen anyone go over THIS issue with recording then RErecording vocals in the play list. Having to record in a new empty mixer channel is such a fxckaround annoyance and just time consuming. What daw would you recommend for just recording vocals?
How do I get it so my mic doesn’t record the music from my headphones? I’m not sure if it’s my setting or if it’s cause I don’t have a stand alone mic and only a headset with the mic on it
Turn the volume down in your headphones. Or, drop the levels on the track you have your beat playing through and your mic as well. -12db should be sufficient. In doing so you will get better quality. The problem is you have to consider the factor of leaving headroom for any filters to work right. So by lowering the volume on the playback you can keep the reverbish ambient effect to a minimal. If you can get a mic with an interface, great. If not you have to make due with what you have. I have been in that position myself so I can personally vouch for the benefits of having the latter. Best of luck to you in your endeavors.
But if you mess up on a part how do you rerecord just like a piece, in adobe audition you select the part and just click record and stop where you messed up
I’ve been recording for 2 years now and my vocals always sound uncomfortably mono when yours right off the bat sound nice the way they are. To make them stereo I HAVE to use a stereo imager to make them wider and the stereo knob on the actual track I send my vocals to doesn’t sound anything. I wanted to watch a beginner video incase I missed a key step but I didn’t. Your vocals sound perfectly fine without any plugins. Just need some help here. Thanks
@@anthonyfusco9339 I got a condenser mic and my sample rate is 48000 and buffer size is 64, I keep only one channel input on whenever im recording so I don’t get the echo reaction or distortion
Slim, I can't express how thankful I am for this video you made. I've watched several videos over the last year, and been unsuccessful at all of them, until this one. I'm literally singing and recording songs I haven't made music to yet, just because I CAN now!!
as a fluent logic user switching to fl studio, I thought I had more to learn because the recording workflow in fl feels terrible. I just hate assigning every take to a channel manually and also having to turn my effects off, and also mute the link to the master. logic workflow is just record, listen, delete, retake. so simple
FL is the best DAW for beginners to learn and professionals to use. Which does not extend to the mobile version in my experience. Also a very effective tool for each aspect of the entirety of the creative process, however, it is critical to read the tutorials that pertain to the parts of the program that you are trying to utilize. I have been using fl studios since fl7 and am constantly learning new and better ways of doing things. Recording in it is admittedly difficult at first. But once you understand the process, it is as easy as 123.
I need help with my Yahama MG10XUF. I’m trying to use it to record audio(microphone, etc) and I set up my mixer with fl studio 20. On fl studio I select audio settings and chose ASIO 128samples rate. So far everything good. I open a beat on fl and also do all the channeling to get ready to record. I’m able to record e all of that but Now my issue is that I want to know how can I record vocals on my microphone and mute the monitors while recording? I’m not sure if the mixer can do it or if I need to choose any option on the daw. Can you help? The only work around i found Is to turn down the monitors volume knob on the back while recording because mixer does not have any button to lower Monitors volume.

What about for Apollo twin how do you route your mix to that interface because when I switch to asio it starts recording my vocal records thru the computer mic instead of my actually interface
BRUH i thought I was tripping when It started recording back things I already said in my earlier verse because I wasn't even saying anything yet into the mic but it was showing the same sound animations as the track above it. Made me figure maybe I'm doing something wrong. searched up this video for the exact solution to this problem which is what I did btw. glad it was simple enough to just send to a different insert track. fl needs to fix that bug frfr tho bc that's a little much back and forth at times.
You have to show how to record into the session the beat is being made in, not how to create a vocal session over an imported beat. This is the confusion and problem and nothing works the same both ways.
It works the same way and most people dont have computer that can handle doing that. If you dont have a low enough buffer size you will get massive delay. This way is the simplest.
I will never figure this out, but I figured out a way around it. I record my vocal on my phone, and use my phone as a preamp. This is free. I then Bluetooth the wave file to go to a folder in FL Studio and drag my perfectly synced vocal into the playlist. Then I layer the effects over the vocal and boom, perfection. I don't even have to fight with levels, feedback or recording to loud, or getting to much air noise and trying to clean it up with Edison. All headaches gone. Works perfect for any DAW even LMMS.
Only prob I have with recording into a phone is that it's mic ain't quality like a good condenser microphone. But if quality isn't an issue then this is a def great work around 👍🏽
@@txddyfarquh69 For me once the effects are laid. The vocal does not lose even 1 nuance and actually ends up being a quieter recording. I actually bought an interface and he worked with condenser mics and struggled Everytime.
I recommend getting a dynamic microphone with an interface. You can use a usb mic, however the podcast mics are just that. You can clean the audio up with filters somewhat but if you want crisp clear recordings without having to use those dynamic is the way to go.
😶 I'm gonna try doing exactly cuz I keep hearing this loud ugly screetch hum Thing. Did some research suggesting I needed an interface. Got this Beringer mixer interafce thing hope it works.
