Respect bro. I've been clean off that sht for about 7 years now. IV user for years too. I'm always happy when I see dudes change that sht around cause it's honestly just a terrible scene. I remember seeing dudes that had been at it for DECADES and how melted their minds were and how empty their souls felt. Like zombies sorta. Just ..vacant. I agree too - it's way too easy in this country to just remain in that state and after awhile it feels like they want you to just stay that way. I'm glad you doing better and your Yt channel rockin. God bless man and stay up.

All addictions are difficult to overcome. That being said, m3th is absolutely one of the most difficult drugs to give up. I was a h3roin addict, and a m3th addict. Detoxing off H was nothing compared to M. The brain is literally rewired by M. It took me 2 years to feel functional, and left me with symptoms similar to Alzheimers. There are multiple FDA approved dr*gs to treat H addiction, yet nothing for M. And recovery from M has the highest failure rate. I am 4 years clean from everything, and I don't even mess with caffeine or alcohol or nicotine because it took me so long to get my brain chemistry back to functional. Much love to everyone trying to get sober and staying sober!
@johnthompson5302
@johnthompson5302 Год назад
How would you suggest someone with over 5yrs of constant M use go about quitting? Does suboxone help at all? I didn’t think there was a physical dependency for it, is there? Just not sure how to start…
@Quandussy
@Quandussy Год назад
Seriously. Even less potent amps like Adderall (the drug I personally was severely addicted to). It's gotta be because amps flood the brain with levels of dopamine far greater than opiates, alcohol, even cocaine.
@Quandussy
@Quandussy Год назад
Addiction at the end of the day comes down to our need for dopamine, and amphetamines completely override and rewire that system more than other drugs.
@Quandussy
@Quandussy Год назад
@John Thompson I'd suggest, if you can, that you check yourself into a detox, find a good IOP program after that, and pretty much rely on meds from a good psychiatrist to not feel as terrible while you get used to living without M. There's no good alternative to that imo. You can replace your addiction with less destructive drugs, but that just perpetuates the problem.

It takes a long time to feel "normal" without dr*gs, but it is possible. Remember, it's just the brain craving the chemicals, so the brain causes us to feel crazy and terrible till we give it what it wants. The brain has to learn how to make and regulate it's own dopamine, serotonin, etc again. The longer you stay off the drugs, the more the brain heals and learns to function again.

I know he said he was uncomfortable about the sexual abuse, but I think more people should start talking about their assaults, to expose how common it is. I was victimized by a predator when I was around 5 years old, and I learned that talking about it helps a lot, and I found out that it happens way more than people talk about it. It's crazy how me talking about my abuse to people, have allowed them to feel comfortable to tell me that it happened to them too. This is why I get extremely disgusted when I hear people trying to normalize pedophilia. It's worse than trying to normalize rape in my eyes. At least people who fall under rape, are generally adults, it's way worse for a developing innocent mind to be victimized by a pedophile predator. I was groomed by a person that I looked up to, and didn't realize that they were a deviant predator. It's disgusting when people try to make "grooming" a normalized thing. This world is full of perverted predators, and the last thing we need is people trying to make them feel comfortable. I don't understand why people who get abused, turn to being predators too. After what I went through as a child, I wouldn't want to put any child through that. Plus I don't see an innocent child as sexually attractive. We need to start calling out the predators and weirdos, that think grooming children is okay. As a victim, it turns my stomach. Pedophilia should be a death sentence, 30 to life at the very least, and without having the luxury of protective custody. It's murdering the innocence of children, and causes a lot of metal health issues. It's not easy for a child to carry the burden of sexual abuse.

He was just a little shook because Sergio's experiences go against his (Mark's) perceptions of Asian folks. These problems are prevelant within certain segments of the Asian American community but a lot of us don't really talk about it because of the whole "saving face" thing so it gets underreported and not really seen by the larger American community.

I'm a Korean who grew up in SoCal and have struggled with addiction to weed. We treat it so casually here but really, even weed, is a crutch for so many. Sure, I can function, go to work, even going to back to school, but I know I'm addicted to weed. I've had some sober runs but they are short-lived but what I do experience when sober is both amazing yet too much to handle at times. Thank you Sergio for your story. You painted such a clear picture of what addiction can look like.

Agree with you, my husband has smoked pot the whole time we have been together. He’s gone through periods of full on use, all day everyday to only at the weekends. I can say when he was smoking all the time, he was holding down a job but his life was going no where, while he spent all his money on drugs, sat in a stupor and had no motivation. I managed to save enough money to travel the world and get through nursing school. He wasted those years. It is a blur to him, he wasn’t present in our relationship at all and it was like being in a relationship with someone that was asleep the whole time. My son also had a full blown addiction to it and his psychotic episode probably saved him as it scared him enough to quit and he hasn’t touched it in two years. Any drug has a potential to be dangerous. But there are also a lot of people that are able to use drugs of all types and still have happy and productive lives too :) good luck

I love hearing these stories of survival ending in thriving! It resonates with me so deeply. Overcoming abuse, poverty, depression, cptsd, anxiety disorders and now being Mrs. Earth USA rep. Indiana living in a million dollar home with 12 years plus of sobriety. I love, love, love hearing someone say they are clean and worked a program and they have a beautiful success story ending with happiness with all the lessons learned along the way. Today, I advocate for domestic abuse survivors and focusing mostly on the prevention of causing trauma to the children who witness it or are abused themselves. Many focus on solely the victims and perpetrators however, 80-90% of adults suffered some sort of trauma they are silent about. I’m out here trying to tell others they are Not alone, and it’s ok to speak up and be loud now and that there is hope, joy, and abundance waiting for them on the other side of healing those childhood wounds. I even have spoken and shared my testimony to perpetrators of DV to help them have a better understanding of how the witnesses of the abuse are affected forever and how much work it takes to overcome that past trauma. Another great interview. Mark, this is the most beautiful art I have ever seen. ❤❤❤💜 💚

That thing Sergio mentioned about being Asian (East-Asian mainly) and feeling like a failure compared to your peers is real. I'm Korean (East-Asian) and it was true for me too when I was going through addiction and poverty. East-Asians in the US tend to be well-off, so being East-Asian and poor is a trip. I grew with more Southeast-Asian folks than East-Asian folks, and with Southeast-Asians it's a whole different experience living in the US, since most of them live below the poverty line and came here as refugees. Koreans were refugees too, but it's complex because the US occupation of South Korea made it easier to assimilate and get ahead. My family left South Korea because the US-backed far-right dictators Park Chung Hee and Chun Doo Hwan were brutalizing civilians during the 50s-90s. People also forget about West-Asians (Middle-East), South-Asians (e.g. India, Afghanistan, Pakistan) and Pacific Islanders (e.g. Samoans, Maori) are also Asian and have a completely different collective experience compared to East-Asians. So as an East-Asian myself, I say we gotta stop using the term Asian so loosely. We gotta be more specific.

Things are not spoken about or discussed. But like every other culture if you dig deep enough you’ll find horrifying things that are happening behind closed doors

I did have a brother that protected me a lot from doing the heavier drugs, but we both went down the wrong path and did drugs none the less.
