Well I was thinking it shouldn't be that hard to get going again... but then I saw the missing rocker cover! I bet the engine has more water than oil in it at this stage!
British version of the diesel brothers with less beards, less drama, significantly less time promoting shit nobody wants and much less fucking about. More getting the job done. Excellent.
I'm amazed Phil didn't find any flints, he's mad for bits of flint. Mick would have said it was probably a religious structure. And Tony would have jumped into the trench without asking first. :D
Proper technique on using & tightening a bow shackle is NOT to tighten the pin up hard but back it off half a turn from finger tight otherwise they will tighten right up under load & distortion.
I don't feel like there's enough UK equivalents of all these American channels that go out in the sticks and recover abandoned heavy equiptment. Would love to see more like this 👍
How come it takes Dave Heavy D Sparks and 20 other dudes and 10 vehicles to recovery something like this and you pair can do it with a few tools and and a 38 year old recovery truck.... Keep up the great work
It'll be because Daves got a pile of money to buy fancy crap and make a movie production out of everything, this guys just running what he was given and getting it done L.O.L
Brakes are spring applied pressure released, feed oil to the fitting at the brake housings next to final drive (hose you removed), a hand pump with a suitable hose(JIC fittings) will release the brakes. Alternatively remove track motor and brake unit but do not remove the planetary gear cover as this will give more headaches. Early m/c may have a disconnect shaft behind a small plate behind the sprocket But can’t be certain, maybe mixing it up with the larger machines, 225,235,245 The LC stands for long undercarriage giving better stability.
Thus proving there is absolutely NO situation that cannot be made far easier with the arrival of a Foden! I was impressed how the CAT refuse to turn a track though ...
And what a Testament to the Foden Recovery Vehicle to all those that never saw this "beast" working in the Military. It can do a lot more. Good old British Engineering.
Gotta love the fact the Clarke & Dawe sketch lives on from generation to generation - it’s over 30 years old now - and a classic… And the front fell off…..
I used it in my local bar last week with the Aussie barman, he just rolled his eyes in weariness. Sorta says it all, Australia's version of the parrot sketch.
Nice to see the foden in its natural environment dragging reluctant machinery back from history to civilization. And i got all the references. I'm sure leatherman will fix/replace your tool under warranty. Keep up the good work guys
Heavy D would have a crew of 15, turn up in a fleet of unsuitable vehicles, including a helicopter for reasons no one has ever been able to work out. Perhaps he just likes to flex. The title would be" Our Most Dangerous Mountaintop Recovery, Ever! Will We Die?" Most of the video would be him talking about how great he is, which is his favourite subject, or plugging some dodgy sponsored product, while Alan does all the actual work. The English way: two blokes, a big hammer and a sense of humour.
@@ForeverNeverwhere1 Yeah that old silo they demolished was a complete Shyte show, I wonder what the late great Fred Dibnah would of thought about it !
@@super6954 "we've become a nation of conmen, living off selling double glazing to each other" none more apt a description of heavy D I have ever heard. That dude would sell an empty box labelled "water" to a man dying of thirst. And then boast about the crap he bought with the money.
Excellent to see you putting your resources to a normal civvy reclamation job. Foden is King!! I wonder how a modern recovery truck would compare with it. You had better check with your friend if he wants it started, I am sure you would succeed.
You guys are the closest thing to RCEME on the civvy side I've ever seen. Antique wreckers pulling derelict equipment out of swamps? Just another friday! Can't wait to see that old Cent ARV in action. I've been loving your videos lately. Cheers
We all love a will it run video! Also I’ve seen enough people trying this and mostly, if it won’t run it’ll never move. Well people with tank recovery equipment don’t seem to have that problem. Nice work.
Nice to hear some Time Team banter. They are filming again, alas sans Phil Harding (what a legend). Maybe you could still get a Time Team cross-over called Tank Team ;-)
Great to watch the Foden truck's recovery winch pull the excavator (with non rotating tracks) as if it was a go cart! I can only imagine the force required to move the excavator; 60,000 lbs (roughly 27,000 kg) or more would be my guess. I hope the old Caterpillar excavator becomes a new project soon; it should be interesting!
Theres having the right tools, and then theres also having a Foden! If you boys are up for it, the Titanic needs dragging back to shore, I think the Foden will do it with ease!
Can’t believe it, hilarious as well as constructive-beats a lot of similar stuff I have seen elsewhere by a country mile. Brilliant, just brilliant, no BS, you know exactly how to get stuff done without stopping every 5 minutes to explain it all to the viewer, what a pleasant change. Greetings from Tasmania Australia, a Leeds tyke living in exile down under, you make my day.👍🛠😁🇦🇺🦘
You wouldn't have done almost nothing without the powerful Foden, a great vehicle 👍! But now I'm very curious about this excavator with blocked tracks but I'm sure you will managed it good as you are 👍👍👍
The front fell off?. The bloody lot fell off that shed.. well done lads. The Clarke and Dawe reference was bloody hilarious, and features in alot of my ramblings,
thanks for the videos! with respect regardless of the accent i believe it is professor or doctor Harding! he worked hard for the titles and i think he deserves them.
@@Rover200Power im going to have to pull a tony lol University of Southampton Doctor of the University (D.Univ) its a technicality but im running with it lol
need to get a big single axle with truck wheels, and small platform for the tracks to sit on ,lift it up and put the axle under the middle of both tracks, undo the hydrolic lines and fold the arm and bucket in, and chain it, then tow from the bucket, done in an hour, and on the road without having to get a trailer
It was a good thing the driver's door was locked on that loader. Someone would have stolen it if it hadn't been. (Sarcasm.) Good luck getting her running! ( Not sarcasm.). Too bad there isn't a 105mm on the turret of that thing, your friends would be more excited about working on it. Love your channel!
That set up was badass. Man that thing didnt even sound that strained at all doing that. Heavy d from deisel bros would have pulleys upon pulleys set out and his rigs look like their about to explode.
