This 4-part series of brief videos offer information and advice about recovery after stroke. Part 1 of 4. The consequences of stroke and the pathways for rehabilitation over your lifespan.
Excellent series of 4 videos. As the father of a 22 year old stroke survivor and as a physician, I recommend watching these 4 videos to any one who has a loved one that had a stroke.
This was so helpful. My stroke was not severe and mainly left me with Alexia without Agraphia (I could not read but I could write) and difficulty recalling names and specific words - I cannot recall numbers at all and get most confused. But in the first year I was able to write a book with my husband reading every page back to me as I wrote it. Thank you for helping me better understand my condition. By the way - they also found a brain tumour with the CT scan for the stroke.
Hi I have a question. Hypothetically patient A had a liver biopsy on December 1st, December 2nd they had a brain MRI and it showed signs of ischemic stroke activity. What would your course of action be in that type of situation? Would you start that patient on aspirin 325 mg a day after finding out that there's some type of ischemic stroke activityn in the brain even after having a liver biopsy?
very insightful...not to mention it takes away depression. Still have a lot od questions while going through it right now. Almost 5 months already..hit last July after my endoscopy w/c the doc never mentioned it entailed a risk tsk tsk tsk... Mayra I'm training my hand by pickingup beads and rice that might help also clothesline washers can be used according to the therapist that helps me. hope that info is helpful :)
My husband is 27, he suffered a major stroke in his left hemisphere 3 months back. He had broca’s aphasia which is slowly resolving to transcortical motor aphasia. Please advise recovery chances.

How is your father? I hope he got his abilities back. My father had a stroke a month ago and lost ability to speak and move right side of body. I'm worried about prognosis.
Hello, My father was from Monterrey, Mexico. I had several strokes after surgery on my Aorta. I was in a coma for 4 months. I woke up on life support and very little use of my left side. I'm now home recovering and have full function. I still need to build strength because of muscle atrophy. Here is some helpful info: www.flintrehab.com/2018/how-to-reverse-muscle-atrophy-after-stroke/ One more thing, it took me about 2 months to walk without a cane or walker. At first I could not stand but now I'm walking around the house and to the corner down the street. Just keep your dad moving the weak parts.
Must remember presenter is talking about best case scenarios in most of this talk. You may find a need for advocacy as your health care provider falls short on delivery of therapies. Find an advocate early!
