At the bottom of the Baltic Sea lies a relic of the might of the German Hansa, a league of merchantmen founded around 1200 AD. Archaeologists are retracing its final voyage using state-of-the-art technology as well as ancient scripts. Their search takes them to the Norwegian port of Bergen, to the Shetlands, and even as far as Iceland.

Here in Bergen, Norway, the local beer is called "Hansa" and still brewed according to the German purity law.

17:50 The map zoom in is totally wrong. The area shown as "Bergen" is actually part of Øygarden (island farm) county, a barren, treeless, windswept region west of Bergen. It's easy to see on the map where Bergen actually is, to the right/east side of where it is marked, beyond the large, "elephant"-shaped island, called Askøy (Ash Island) and into the bay, on the opposite side of the "trunk" of the "elephant", where you can clearly see grey areas on the map, from all the urban settlement that go back a millennium and used to be the capitol of Norway before Christiania (Oslo) took that title, and the royal palace.

23:56 "Notow" in local, Norwegian dialect sound a lot like "Nautøy", or "Bull Isle"

The scene at 20:35 is mirrored that of 21:05. Weird.

29:55 another etymological clue, Krysuvik might mean "crystal bay". My Icelandic is not the best though...

30:21 I really hope she dropped that plan. "Sølvi" is Norwegian for "Silver", but it's a feminine name, used for girls here. Hopefully she knows her stuff and chose "Sølve", that is the masculine version. "Sølv"=Silver
