This was terrible. I am glad you are better but very sorry you went through such terrible pain and trouble at the hospital. Your husband is such a wonderful man to help you. What kind friends you have to bring you food and help you with showering. My surgery was not as severe as yours but it does take a long time to get back on your feet. You have however given me a little bit of courage. I had knee replacement surgery and while my doctor says I can go back to riding I have been a little afraid to. I will be getting back on in a few weeks as the weather permits. Thank you for sharing. I hope you keep on getting better and better. I have missed your videos and I hope this coming year is much kinder to you. Keep the videos coming as we all learn so much from you.

Thank you for your kind words. My husband had both of his knees replaced several years apart though. That recovery is way easier than this type of fracture. I wish you the best when you get back in the saddle.

😧 holy cow Cathie!, I was in pain in my heart as I watched this video! I know a bit about Hospital care , and from the screaming person 😩 to the rude lazy Care givers , I was horrified. ( as a chaplain the screaming seemed evil). I have had many calls to Hospitals to pray over such spirits . Usually they shut up when I read Psalm 91 . Anyway, I wish I could Hug you . I wish I could have prayed over you During your nightmare Hospital Stay 🙏Your strength to carry on and show others to keep going no matter how big the mountain is , will strength others . That’s what The Lord says sufferings are suppose to do. . And these amazing Horses are so Healing for our Souls ! Especially yours ♥️ wonderful to watch you ride again. Huggggs and prayers and a Happy Happy New Year to you , your Husband and your precious Horses ♥️♥️ Laura and Little Bear my new 6 month old Gypsy cross Colt

Sorry this happened to you. Glad you found my video if only to confirm the healing process. Good luck with your healing, Super happy day when I was told I was able to walk, but big let down when my leg did not agree. lots of PT got me back, still a long road. A year and three months out I only limp when I've been sitting in my truck for an few hours and them I can walk it off. I do feel the hardware in my leg when the weather changes.

Yes, I was lucky to have a friend (NP) that worked in that very hospital and was there the day I was admitted as I would have never received any pain medication when I first arrived. I had a patient advocate (I think) come in and say please don't wait for pain meds. So about 15 minutes later I said I needed something. The Nurse said he would order it. 20 minutes later nothing. Then my friend NP was sitting with me she was off duty I think, she asked him to please check on it. and hour later he said the doctor "forgot" to order it. My friend gently tried to tell him to go up the chain of command, as a newer hire I think he was afraid to. After two hours I finally got my pain meds. Also I was in a hall way for most of the first day (That's fine, I understand they were busy, beds were full). but when three nurses were moving me with the sheet, I looked to the left at the one that had my bad leg, that was off se,t broken, still no surgery till next day and softly pleaded "can you go slow please". I had never seen her before and she replied "I do this all day long" I wanted to slap her silly. NO compassion. I could not believe it. I'm just so grateful to be able to walk and ride again. God is good!

Cathie, this is so painful to watch. I feel terrible for you. I too have learned not to get on other people's horses so quickly, as they truly cannot be trusted all the time. May God bless you with a speedy recovery. You certainly did the right thing with your emergency dismount. I do them all the time when a horse starts acting like that horse acted. I'll keep you in my prayers Cathie, my time learning from you has stayed with me to this day.

Havent even finished the video yet, but wanted to tell you, the way you fell down, I was like WOW. you fell so well, if that is at all possible. Im so sorry you were injured. And so badly. My dad, who was a psychopath and enjoyed seeing others in pain, used to sit me on green or spoiled horses and make me do all sorts. I was very young and fell off many times. Ending up in hospital many times. I was told to get back on, again and again. I was terrified and dissociated, it was like I was hovering next to the horse (even though I was riding it), watching it run home like a maniac because it knew there was a pile of oats in the stables waiting for him. The running wasnt too bad although very frightening. But the way it ran, underneath very low trees, so I had to lay down flat on the horse so not to get hit. My dad would drive next to me on the road and measure the speed. I was around 12 years old. Many other things happened with the horse which are too painful to think about, let alone speak about. But I wanted to share it because I feel inspired by your experience and bravery. And I hope that I too will be able to heal. I have no physical scars any more but my fear of horses is very deep because the horses were also very frustrated and angry (I assume because my dad wasnt able to train them properly) I remember one day, a horse ran up to us from behind (my dad and I were walking across the paddock) and as it passed me it kicked me on the leg. I had a huge black bruise. Anyway, it has now happened, that my friend can no longer look after her mare (12 hh) and asked us if we could take her, even if it is just to keep the grass down. So we took her. She is very spoiled, never really had to do anything she didnt want to (she was never ridden nor had any ground work done). She is pushy and disrespectful of humans in general, especially our space. She is 5 years young. But I can also see the side of her that wants to submit and be at peace, just follow and be content and trusting. so now it is up to my husband and I to build up that trust LOL God has His ways, doesnt He? I am absolutely terrified of her so my husband does most of the handling right now while I just watch, but now and again I feel confident to lead her and even do a bit of ground work basics with her like backing up and walking in a circle. She probably isnt very big to others, but to me she is HUUUGE and powerful. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience, maybe it will help you in some ways lol. Not sure how but I just wanted to say "I can relate to your pain, and evil nurses in hospital!"

Thank you so much! As a trainer I know my job is dangerous, but I think many people do not forewarn what you are stepping into. If they know the horse has a habit of doing something it would be nice for them to inform the trainer. For instance I went to another job a couple days ago, and it was not until I arrived that I was told the horse attacked if you went into his stall to feed him, or went into the pasture he would charge you if he was eating his hay the first half hour. (If you waited an hour you were safe) I addressed the stall issue no problem, but it was touch and go with leading this horse from a distance as he came at me hard several times.

Sorry to hear, glad the video could help. Hope your healing goes as well as it can. It's a long road, but you will get through it a better person in the end. You will learn who your real friends are, and have more sympathy to those that are in the same boat, or that will never get better from being disabled permanently.

YOU DESERVE A MEDAL CATHIE, I WAS THINKING OF BUYING A FOAL AND BRINGING IT ON ?. AFTER WATCHING YOUR VIDEO, I DON'T THINK SO XXX
@bobcatfarm
@bobcatfarm 2 года назад
Raising a foal is really hard work. Actually not hard work, hard to discipline oneself to treat the foal like a real horse. I have raised several three from the time they hit the ground, and one at 4 months and two were yearlings. With the first one he was more like a dog. We imprinted several but I think you can go overboard. none were rude, mouthy etc. But I have worked with many at my jobs that even as weanlings they bite, kick, rear and strike. They learn this from their owners that don't know how to correct. Just like human babies, they don't come with instructions.

Wow no brace! Crazy how different doctors do things. I wanted to take my brace off at night to sleep and I was told absolutely not! the only thing I did was loosen it for about an hour when I was laying on couch or chair. other than when I washed the lining. Ugg,good luck on your recovery.
