So, I own quite a few machine vises and I built more than my share of AK's but this just seems like a real elaborate and expensive way to avoid buying a good hydraulic press.

I get what you’re saying as I have several methods to do the barrel work/heqdspacing. I haven’t finished the video yet but this thing beats the socks off doing it with a press. I could see in a professional shop they could make up the cost of this thing pretty quick. As a home gamer- it will never be worth the price of admission but I could say that for a lot of the tools I have.

@@kelleys81 I wouldn't say that. Its just a lot more complicated and considerably more expensive. Press the barrel down onto a go headspace gauge with the bolt installed. Thats it.

@@mikeandnatalyathere is an older thread on the files about doing that and an example of ending up ruining a chamber. My guess is they really went off into left field with the pump handle. Either way, it’s not more complicated than a press setup and in a cheaper form would be a good alternative to a press setup but the vice alone cost is bananas.

@@kelleys81 Like I said I have several good machinist vises and would never consider that a "better" way based on the expense alone. Im sure some dipshit could fuck up a chamber over pressing it but this is nuts. The blocks alone are more expensive than the vise.

@@mikeandnatalya its a much better way. there is no way to do accurate work with a hydraulic press when working in .001 of an inch you will always get popping when the barrel finally decides to move. this essentially being a screw press you are able to set up a dial indicator off the back and see exactly how much youre moving with no guess work. saves time+money
