Picking up and packing those boxes was awesome! Fantastic video all around. I couldn't imagine Santa Monica likes wasting time sending three trucks down all these tight, congested alleys each week. What a nightmare with all the carts on top of each other! I suppose the alternative is less desirable, so, whatever. haha
and the alleys in this area with 300s get trucks 3 times a week! Kinda makes me wonder why they went automated in the first place (or at least as early as they did) given how much of the city is far from ideal for automation. A rear loader would be far easier for these alleys, especially given the amount of property damage these trucks cause and the constant slow maneuvering they do to be able to grab carts properly. Thanks!
My last two years of working for the City of Milwaukee I drove a one-armed Bandit as they called it and it was for so good at it I could pick somebody's pocket with it that's a good machine
Why are there 3 (or more) types of blue carts?? I saw some of those large one's (the shared community carts), but also Another Blue cart whit a Different Color Of Blue...
Yellow typical of a Toter EVR II. Santa Monica needs to buy from roto again or get the EVR I. A few cities and companies still order the EVR I. Way better for fully automated collection.
Why is he sometimes picking up 300 gallon bins and sometimes not? At first, he wasn't picking them up, then he pics up the ones. Why is that? Also, at 32:45, he picks up a trash along with a recycling. What was the point of that?
is this a saddle bagged ASL? charlie turned me on to the garbage truck youtube area the FEAT of modern engineering right here is magical THANK YOU for posting this it needs to be more accessible in a museum.

Lol my neighbor cussed out our trash guys, they literally suck. They squeezed my barrels and left a dent in them, and accidentally pushed one over, and left another dent.
Utterly bonkers how people don't bother cutting up or folding their cardboard boxes and just put them in recycling bins wasting a ton of space. 300 gallon bin fits like 3 unfolded boxes when it could fit 50 wtf
I want to take one out during a zombie apocalypse and pick up zombies over ride the gripper so you can drop them in the hopper lmao the crap I think about while I'm at work
